The Importance of Social Networking

Hey guys,

Just wanted to thank the warrior forum for the opportunities it has put in front of my way. I've never used Skype in my life, but two months after opening my account I've met great people and developed 7 potential projects. I've spoken to editors, product launch managers, an Emmy winner, an IM big shot, a mother of 3, and a guy who i'm helping out.

The thing I wanted to share with you is that you should never underestimate the importance of social networking. Even tough we live in a digitalized world, no machine can replace a human being in terms of relationships and networking (regardless how many Androids, iOS, Spiders, Crawlers, Search engines or others are out there). A human being can understand what your talking about and RELATE. You can't do that with an algorithm.

So, start searching, speak to people you've never met and bedazzle yourself in the process of getting to know someone (even tough my mom used to said never speak to strangers, she never said anything about Skype). Just keep in mind that there are some risks, and don't share too much private info.

This experience has helped me realize the importance of social interactions. I'm now using Mark Zuckerberg giant and i opened an account with the blue bird.
Feel free to add me as a friend or follow me (and i'll follow back):

Twitter

Thanks everyone and let's build a network together!

I'm finding that Social Networking gets you a lot of interest when before, there wasn't the platform to so easily network and tell people what you are all about and what you might be selling them. As long as it's good what's being sold, I'm all for it. As we all know, along with all the good that comes out of it, there are many who will seek to take advantage of people so we still have to be careful and watchful for these types...

Social networking is a boon as long it is used appropriately. It is a good tool to stay connected but is highly unsafe as all the information is public. Your photos to your contact information may be misused by many. It is better not to let anyone barge into your privacy.

Max, you are right on! We who work from home must get involved in social networking in order to meet other like-minded people. I don't think we can really build an online business without social networking.

I'm amazed at how many people now follow me on Twitter (I have three accounts, but the one regarding elder care has a huge following). Many of the people I've met on Twitter and FB have become friends and supporters.

We cannot succeed online if we stay in a vacuum. Just coming out here on WF was a huge step for me and I didn't start posting until recently. We need people no matter whether we are on a social network, a forum, or on Skype.

    Great post!

Social Networking can be considered as one of the greatest innovations in the Internet today. It was originally used to provide a community wherein people could share information. Now, however, it provides the means for numerous things like information dissemination, selling products and playing games.

Social Networking is great for meeting people!

Skype is more like a platform for chatting/calling/video or voice calls, or like a chat script.

Glad to know you've maximised Skype!

    Cheers,

    Gie

How very true. Although we work online, we do not and should not live in a vacuum. You are correct in saying that "...no machine can replace a human being in terms of relationships." In fact, I believe BECAUSE we are on the Internet, we need to more than ever connect with others.

Social networking has been a vital resource for interacting with people from all over the world. It is quite dangerous however to replace social networking as your main source of conversation in your daily life. The importance of human interaction without the help of any gadget or internet is huge. Make use of facebook, twitter, etc.. as complements to help you network in person.

When Social networking sites are utilized just the way they should be, then there shouldn't be any problem.. but when used as a tool to steal information or some other unethical activities then that's really annoying. I've heard from some colleagues about their Facebook accounts getting hacked or something..and I was like "really?"

There's Privacy settings and You can even customize the "view settings" so it is imperative to provide only the information that you think is necessary.

But all in all, the advantages that we get from all these networking sites and the opportunity to meet people from different walks of life are overwhelming!

But I must say it depends on situation to situation and product to product... Some of products you can sell with your strong contacts on the internet while there are thousands which don't need online presence.

Man is a social animal so he needs to have a crowd of like people around him/her. And this it the strongest reason goes in the favour of Social Media...
