Do you use only social media sites to promote your freelance business?

Hi everyone. I recently finished my diploma on Translation and I'm also in the process of creating my website announcing my freelance translator services. I'm very interest into getting clients for fields like "travel & tourism" & computer technology (blogs, internet, hardware, software, web development and so on).

One doubt I got from these areas is: who are the types of clients where i can get recurrent translation jobs?

Also, if i want to promote my freelance services through a facebook page instead of creating one from scratch, how can clients are going to see this?

First of all, congrats for your accomplishment.

Secondly, you can get prospective customers from social networking sites, but it won't be enough to get you the real sweet fruits.

Just done with your websites, and apply SEO practices over it, surely, you will got rush.

    Regards

If you're intent on using a Facebook fan page as you main promotional tool you probably want to drive as much traffic to it as possible.
I would suggest creating a Squidoo lens and a hub page as well describing your service with a link to the fan page in your author bio.

You could use free classifieds,PPC, and Facebook ads. When you register create an account with godaddy or hostgator they usually give your $100 adwords credit to use for PPC. GoDaddy threw in $50 for Facebook ads. I like the linked-in idea since it is more of a business network and you should be able to get some referrals from your networking.

Perhaps you could use Fiverr by hiring someone to get a bunch of likes for your fan page for $5. If you're seeking freelance jobs online I suggest Guru.com, Elance | Outsource to freelance professionals, experts, and consultants - Get work done on Elance and of course www.odesk.com since they usually pay more than $5.

Social media is the second step, first do you on page and off page optimization then jump into social media marketing.
