Do you believe in past lives having an effect in your present life?

I have been struggling to get over someone I love since there are a lot of reasons why we can't be together. What is really weird is that I fell in love with him in 4th grade, ( we were both age 9) I didn't even know what love was, but we fell in love then. Anyways things have happened and now I am trying to move on and get over him. It is really hard and I'm already 26.

I called a "spiritual healer" and she said the reason my pull to him is so strong is because we have been together in a past life. Has anyone on here had a similar experience?

    OMG, what a yummy topic~!! Can't wait to hear what others have for input. A writer (can't remember his name!) explored this idea extensively after being very "anti-past lives." He is a very prolific writer on the subject after hearing so many, many stories like yours.

    I'm out of town right now, but as soon as I get home I will find the author and post.

    Don't let anyone call you silly for considering this, although I'm sure there will be tons of folks who might.

        Well, The past few days things were all to weird for me.... making me feel as if it's time i start believing in past lives, soul mates, destiny etc.

        First off, I'm a very practical person, woman, I'm a Christian but do believe that there are spirits around us, souls and very different types of religions practised world wide.

        I have been been really having bad luck the past few weeks, and I have this one person, a guy, who has been my rock and basically everything. We know each other for 4 years, we found each other literately by chance, but we live 14000km away from each other, he is in a relationship and i was. The weird part is we have never met, but it is undoubtedly that we are soul mates, or connected in a way beyond words. Being so far apart we still feel what the other person is feeling, know what's going on in each other's heads and we are just there for each other. And i love him dearly, I have no idea of how to explain it, but i'd give up everything for this person.

        Now i have been really Emotional and in bad shape and decided to go to a healer just for some direction (something in me just urged me on) Well what came out still has my mind spinning.....

        Apparently, this friend is my soul mate, and has always been in my previous lives, I say lives because i was told that I have been reborn a few times by my healer.
        We have always been there for each other, and our lives has always run parallel with one another, apparently so far our paths has never come together because of how we have always lived our lives, but his soul was searching for me in this life, which half freaks me out because honestly, i cant see how i would have gone through my ordeal if he wasn't there.

        I'm not an emotional person at all , but I have been overwhelmed with emotions from the beginning of this year, I was told as well that In one of my previous lives I was a man with a septor (staff), but I was not a religious leader or Politician, my healer was talking about Centuries ago, Roman times.... and I was very Wise, Loved by my subjects and intelligent, my emotions was in check but I was not an emotional man. Apparently in this life it is my goal / mission / lesson to learn how to feel emotionally, keep my emotions under control and feel the true meaning of love and life....

        Is this making sense?? I'm not sure how to believe all this, or absorb it. Everything else she said about me and then as well my friend was 100% spot on with what has happened, but how do I handle all this information??

        Yes.... I believe.... I think!

      Yes don't let anyone say you're silly for considering it, but at the same time don't believe everything people say. It's up to you as an individual to decide what you believe in.

      This may seem obvious, but many people start to believe in things only because it goes against traditional thinking. And I think that's BS, I think everyone needs to look at the world critically for themselves no matter what other people think.

      As far as this spiritual healer, I don't trust anyone that makes such claims with 100% confidence. She doesn't know yet she told you she does know. If she really had those abilities she wouldn't be consulting at the level she does, she'd be a consultant to the top world leaders and making millions of dollars. Instead she tells people what they want to hear for her own personal benefit- to make money!

      Not saying all spiritual guidance people are liars, but you do have to consider their self interests and use your own common sense.

      I'd rather trust someone that says they don't know! Because the truth is they don't know about your past. And the people that say they can help without making outrageous claims are usually the ones who can really help. They study psychology and understand human emotions, I'd rather talk to them. Anyone can claim to have spiritual powers, not everyone can make it through the educational requirements and pass the state required exams.

      As you can tell I'm very skeptical of spiritual guidance people. At the same time I respect other people's opinions and I hope I don't sound like I'm trying to push my own beliefs on anyone.

      Anyways, about your situation. I'm very sorry to hear about it and I hope things work out. I know how hard it is going through break ups, and I've never experienced a relationship that lasted as long as yours.

      What has helped me in the past is just getting out of the house and doing things to get your mind off of it. Go hang out with your friends, start a new hobby, meet new people, etc. Maybe things weren't meant to be or maybe they were, whatever the case today is the first day of the rest of your life!

      I really hope you can use this opportunity to do some things you've been putting off and enjoy yourself a bit. I know its hard but doing the opposite (laying around feeling sorry for yourself) can have so many negative consequences.

        I believe, but I also believe spirits can move on elsewhere.

        I think Earth is some some of proving ground or passage of rite.

    If by "past life" you mean some life before birth, the mythological crap, I don't believe that. LOL! Okay, I know what you mean... I absolutely believe in the past life you mention. What we are today are the results of what we did yesterday.
