TIME IS MONEY, DO NOT WASTE YOURS

Just a few minutes ago, I read a Facebook Status:

" Every day EVERYONE has 1440 MINUTES deposited in their TIME BANK ACCOUNT, WHAT IS NOT USED TODAY CANNOT BE CARRIED OVER TO TOMORROW, IT IS LOST FOREVER.
YOU MUST LEARN OF HOW TO USE TIME TO IT'S BEST ADVANTAGE. "

I always kind of had that whole concept
in mind, but it was not until I read this
that I realized it.

Every day we're given a gift. Time.
Life tell us to do whatever the heck we
want with it. It has no rules, It has no
conditions. Life just tells everyday:
"Here's your time, go play with it!"

I was one of the people which also thought
that money, and not time, was the most
valuable asset.

There are many ways to spend your time,
and no one's telling you to cut off the
leisure time. No. What you need to find
is the right balance of it and watch over
the three main areas of your life:

HEALTH (general wellbeing), WEALTH (dreams+ career) AND LOVE (relationships, family and friendship).

Once you find that balance, you're good to go.
You're in for a very sweet ride.

Time isn't the most important thing either, it's what you do with it that really matters.

Gilearn if I held that limiting belief I might try a powerful metaphor to change it. So I would create an image of a boat on calm sunny water with words like " I have all the time in the world". Or maybe " I captain a boat with unlimited time, resources and energy "

This could be a powerful image to replace the limiting belief you currently have xx

That indeed is a dilemma we all have faced at one time or another!

I read somewhere that if you couldn't do it in 40 hours a week, you were doing it wrong!

That made me think, but...here's the funny thing about that.

If time is racing by and you feel left behind, I'd suggest taking time out to revisit your values and see if what you are doing is going to bring you the results and outcomes you desire.

If, then, when you do find you do have your ladder up the correct tree, the time you invest each day will fly, but not leave you feeling in regret, but fulfilled and joyously spent , as you head off in the direction of your purpose to serve others.

I agree. After reading the four hour work week for the fourth time, I really got serious about finishing business tasks in the minimal time required. Anyone who wants the same would like this next part.

I started spreadsheeting everything I did and the time spent. Specific minutes. Once a week I go back and analyze them and pull out everything I can do to make my use of my time more efficient. Looking at time spent versus results. That is the business side, though.

The rest of my time is free form. I'd recommend giving that kind of time analysis a try. You'll be amazed at how much time you can find for the rest of life. It's hard to put into words how much that process has changed my life.

Time is money so the saying goes.

Actually, Time is MORE valuable than money.

Money can be replaced. Time can't. Once it's gone, you can never get it back.

So make the most of today. And enjoy every minute.

Hopefully you're doing something you love.

Good thing for us Warriors, IM is such a friggin' blast.

Work isn't work when you love what you do. It's PLAY.

Not opposing this, but I find that time is somehow comparable to money
        in the same way.

Take into consideration two banknotes - a 100 Rupees note and a
1000 Rupees note. Both have the same size, same weight, same
texture. But one of them has more value than the other.

Time is similar. There are some time you feel more productive/energetic
and some time you feel less productive. Consider two "one hour
intervals". Both of them have same size (length). The first one hour
interval is when you feel more productive. The next one hour interval
is when you feel less productive. During that one hour of time when
you feel more productive you will be able to squeeze out more out of
your work, and do things better, faster, easier. But during the less
productive one hour you do things worse, take more time, and find it
difficult to do. So the more productive one hour has MORE VALUE,
because in this time you are able to do work better, and moving
        faster towards your goal.

So the point is to find out how much "valuable time" you are using.
By "valuable time", i mean the time when you are doing something
that is taking you nearer to your goal in a more EFFICIENT way.
You can consider various time intervals during the day when you
feel more productive, and these are your valuable times.

"Time that is gone cannot be gotten back" this statement puts stress
on us to work all the time, and working all the time sets out the law
of diminishing return, which RESISTS us to be productive in our work.

We all need refreshment of both our bodies and mind. And when we
spend time, after some stressful workhours, to freshen up ourselves,
this time can also be considered as a "valuable time". And this time,
although gone doing nothing, actually helps us being productive for
the assignment/task that we are required to do the next.

So all in all, "time that is gone cannot be get back" is a statement
that can not be applied every time. It is only applicable when you
are wasting your "productive" or "valuable" hours with unnecessary
        activities.

          I agree.

          Not all times are equal.

I'm more curious about what time is-if we know what time is-perhaps we can manipulate it.

For example, if we're sleeping, subjective time speeds up, when we're awake, it slows down.

Your absolutley right, i think we live in a culture where we have so much outside stimulis, tv, entertainment, so many things to do, that it gets hard to focus sometimes. I have tried cutting off things like watching tv shows, and other wasteful things. I've also been looking into outsourcing a lot of things, because there is so much to learn in IM and so little time.
I've looked at replacemyself.com and it seems to be legit. Time is important, but you also have to remember that your the ceo of your company, your online business. Work as efficently as possible, you don't see donald trump, or bill gates pushing papers or doing remedial work. They delegate, because their time is most valuable to them.

      I believe Money = Time.

It's not the Money we really want it is the Time or (Freedom) that the Money will Purchase for us.

I know this to be True because i knew Rich people that in their Last Days here on Earth would have Traded all of their Wealth and Play Toys for more Precious Time with their Loved ones.

If you know how to make money or have money already you can Buy all the Time you want by Hiring others to do your work and oversee and manage your Assets. (Outsourcing)

Your assets could be a brick and mortar offline Business or Investments in the Stock Market or Valuable Real Estate right here Online with Internet Marketing.

But I believe that until you Understand a Method or Blueprint (Successful Business Model and Plan) a Road Map to get you there, you will never be Successful or have Money that could give You Freedom of Your Time.

That is why this Forum is so Valuable and much needed Because there are those that have already Blazed a Path (The Road Map) and have the much needed Business Model and Plan. These Few have Truly Become Warriors and I come Humbly in hopes to Learn from Them and say a Heartfelt Thanks because by Teaching and Coaching they are Giving Me and You Their Most Valuable Asset = Their Time.

That is so true Max, we shouldn't waste our time idling and doing nothing. Let us make use of our time to be productive. Time is of the essence, utilize time to improve yourself.
Most people nowadays, especially the teens, are wasting most of their time going out with their friends, playing video games, partying, and just purely wasting their time doing nothing.
Every second counts since each moment that pass, decisions and choices are made that would change your path and your life. Make each time as important as anything else, time flies and then never looks back. Make your time useful.

I want to share with my fellow marketers for a moment on this thread. I am a professional graphic designer of more than 25 years and I can guarantee that most of you have bought products that I had worked on the graphics for. I've designed packaging for leading consumer healthcare brands, posters for leading a leading soft drink, yes...one of the top two on the global market. Posters, magazine ads, etc....

I'm getting to my point, hold on.... this isn't a bragging session, I'm hoping you can gain some understanding of how time is valuable.

I've been dabbling with affiliate marketing for about two years, maybe a little more. I never hit it hard, just dabbled...and over the course of that time I've probably made a total of about $500. So I knew this could work, but never moved to try and do it full-time. I wanted to, just never did anything about it.

With all that I've done throughout my graphic design career, I was laid off recently because my employer of 6 years dissolved my position in order to outsource the work. They did try to figure out a way to keep me. However, I was doing specialized work where the other designers were doing grunt work. So they decided I was overqualified to work there any longer and laid me off permanently.

So how did I handle it? By jumping into affiliate marketing head first the same day I came home from being laid off and never stopping. I had bought a program called 'Extreme Niche Empires' and followed everything to the button. I crossed all T's and dotted all I's and can say, I wish I had taken this leap years ago. It works. I'm starting to see some money trickle in and am very confident that I will be making steady income based on what I've been seeing.

So my point is that if I had only spent my time wisely through the past two years instead of wasting it on an employer, I wouldn't have ended up being laid off and instead, would have quit on my own terms. I hope this helps inspire someone to keep at it. It's definitely worth it. Keep at it and don't give up!!!

As what others would also believe, "Time is Gold", and that we shouldn't be wasting our time since it is like wasting precious gold to our life. In the 1440 minutes in a day, how many minutes are used to make our life productive? And how many minutes are put to waste doing things that one would say unproductive time?
We need to put it in our mind that time is money, since time will teach us to improve on our life, time will give us learning to the development of our life, and time heals all wounds both physical and emotional. It should be utilize productively and wisely, some people are just wasting their time doing things such as going to parties or just trying to disturbed the neighbourhood with friends and so-called gang mates.
Time when it flies can never be recovered. So, spend time wisely and always remember, time is money.

Another great thing to keep in mind is the Pareto Law, also known as the 80-20 rule. Essentially, it says that 20% of actions lead to 80% of results. The application and relevance of this principle to the waste of time is that, really, only 20% of our time (and often much less) is used to get the results we require. That's why it is a good idea to focus more on the actions that produce results, and stop doing the ones that don't. By maximizing profitable actions and efforts, you are increasing the 20% of useful actions and ultimately producing more and better results.

Always good to be reminded of that, thanks. And there's also the 1% rule, the winners are often only 1% better than the next guy. Think of one impactful thing you can do to be just 1% better - that approach is very achievable and I find snowballs from one success to more.

Time itself is abstract, what you do with that time, is important.

Time is just one of the "leverage" to get things done - others being Money, People, Knowledge, Energy and Reputation.

If you are 50+ and felt wasted your life till now, it doesnt matter. Nobody is putting you on some earthly scale to deliver a judgement on your death bed. You will probably measure up very well on a different scale that you are proud of. All the above leverages can combine differently to get the same effect. Your mind is the most important treasure, not the time. Brialliance stuck anytime irrespective of how long you are pursuing it.

I respect your opinion, but I have a whole different set of beliefs.

I believe that you cannot miss opportunities. If you don't take advantage of an opportunity, it simply wasn't meant to be. There is nothing more abundant in this universe than opportunities. Everyday, a new set of possibilities opens up to you, and the more you hold regrets over seemingly missed opportunities, the less you can focus on bigger and better opportunities that might be on the rise.

We got the same time each day to do what we want, and when you aren't investing time into personal growing, self-improvement and fulfilling your life then your wasting your time.

I think the best asset we got is our mind. There are a lot of people that can do a smart work and hard work, but still struggling to reach their goals. Have they wasted their time? If they haven't learn and get experience to avoid the mistakes the are doing, then yes, they loose their time. But these people are loosing time because they don't have the right mindset, their mind it isn't settled to learn their flaws, so they loose time by trying and not learning.

time is everything we have but some of us have little left for truly valued things. When earning money you sometimes can overlook your family. Invest your time wisely!

I prefer 'rich activity moments' when you can do 2 things at a time. For instance, instead of going to the gym, you can exercise outdoors when playing with your children. - and you will kill 2 birds with a stone.

Please, remember money is not everything in life.

    Invest your time sensibly.

Never heard it stated just like that before...

Quite correct though, but the question is...
Will a person do either one?

The human bias is towards lazy, easy, that is why 97% of people are not able to support them selves at retirement, so while what you say has merit, others pay taxes to support those who have not regarded money as important through out their lifetime.

I understand both sides of the statement.

I had to return to this Thread with more thoughts after reading Ecclesiastes in The Bible (The Living Bible Translation)

King Soloman had a lot to say about how we SPEND our Time. So i guess Time is Money and a currency we Spend one way or another.

This is a Book with only 12 Chapters (i encourage you to SPEND the 10 minutes to read it all as you will get a good return on your Time SPENT) and His final Verses Says:
Here is my final conclusion (
King Soloman):fear God and obey his commandments, for this is the entire duty of man. For God will judge us for everything we do, including every hidden thing, good or bad.

So My Conclusion (J R) is that if i will 1st SPEND my Time Learning what God's commandments are and are in Awe of God and Obey his commandments then i will fulfill my duty to God and will SPEND the time he allows me wisely.

This helps me put Priorities on my time and HOW i SPEND it as Today could be the last of Time that God has allowed me, so it is my duty to SPEND it Wisely.

      Blessings,

      J R

This is exactly right, you have to manage it well...1 thing I make my kids repeat to me everyday so that they realize this fact is " There are 2 things in life you can never get back, Time and Words because once you use them they're gone forever...so today use both wisely and you'll be putting a down payment on a better life" ....I mean you always hear people say "time is money", which I don't doubt that for those that trade their time for money but you can always lose money and find a chance to make money back but you can never get the time back... no way, no how (unless you master the science of tachyons then who knows...lol) I beg each and every person Today use them both wisely and in a positive, productive manner
