Hey guys, I've yet to start IM because in all honesty, I have no idea where to start. I have no idea where to begin and how to start. Here's a little about my situation.

The name's Dave, I'm 21 and I still live with my parents. I've yet to hold a real job or look for one. I know I have social anxiety due to my weight problem and that causes problems for me looking for work. I know I'm a burden on my parents, because they still buy my food and other such stuff. They don't show that, but I know I'm not helping their situation.

My father is unemployed and my mother doesn't work either, my brother lives here too and he doesn't do anything either. I kind of want to be the provider of the family now, because I'm kind of tech savvy and know a bit about the internet. I don't want them to spend money on me, so I want to get a job in IM if at all possible. I need to know where to start, what a noob can do basically. I'll be happy with $500 a week, or less. As long as it's a weekly pay or a decent monthly pay I'm good.

I need to do something, and I need to do it now. I believe I can do it.

If I ever do get a job in IM, I'd like to know some more about; Getting paid, when do I get paid? How do they collect taxes? How do I report my earnings to the IRS? Etc. I've never held an actual job so I've never got taxed on my pay and got a tax cut at the end of the year.

I know this may seem like a lot to process, and I know your answers will be hard to process for myself. Thank you for any help!

As for any work I do currently, I do some stuff on Fiverr; forum posting, craigslist posting, blog comments, etc. Stuff like that.

I did make $500 or so through fiverr and other sources this year, but that's nothing.

Also, if this is in the wrong area, please do move it to the correct one.

Welcome! The only one that can answer these questions is you.
Give yourself the time to decide clearly on what matters to you.
Just remember two things: What you love and what you are good at.
If you need some fast cash, providing services is the easiest way to go (fiverr is one option).
Regarding legal and tax issues, make sure to consult experts in these fields to feel safe and free to move on.
I wish you all the best!
Have fun and the rest will come!

      Hey Bremaine,

I recommend getting familiar with the concept of creating niche blogs, and creating traffic to those blogs.

On these "niche blogs" you can put affiliate links from programs such as Amazon Associates, Click Bank, Commission Junction, or put ads from Adsense on your sites (etc).

I would recommend an all encompassing course by me, but I haven't finished it yet!!:p

A place that will really open your eyes to the possibilities is a place called "Wordpress Goldmine". It covers everything from site generation with Wordpress (free software) to generating traffic with Article Marketing, back linking, etc... There's also a good forum where people have been in the same situation, and are now doing very successful things.

I hope that steers you in a good direction. Good luck.

Hey $500 is alot more than most people get in years through IM. Congrats that is a good start I would recommend buying some guide or looking for some membership site and joining in. Talk with people on what they are doing. Start a blog and learn things and implement them as you learn them. Don't build up a bunch of stuff that you know may help. Just get out there put yourself out there and always try to help people, helping people will get you further in anything you do including IM. Good Luck! Get out there learn and implement.

Hi there Bremaine, I totally agree with JRCarson words. Getting familiar with the concept of creating niche blogs, and creating traffic to those blogs are really important and that's the easiest way to start with if you are new to IM. These are the most common foundation that you have to build up.

But before you start doing anything, build up your own system on doing all these things. It can make you a lot more easier to handle all the stuff once you are ready to go.

Frankly speaking, I am new to IM too, and that's the thing I am doing right now. I know I miss out a lot of important points here cause I am new too. But no worries, I believe there are a lot more warriors out there who are willing to help us in this! =)

Congrats on your earnings too my friend! =) Good luck in the IM world! Have a great day!

The main thing is that you've done something productive and gone out an earned a few dollars with your fiverr gigs. Try and find things you're passionate about and there's a market for and look for ways in which you can exploit your niche. It is a difficult business but one worth conquering and the first year is the most difficult, as you'll be spending time and money on things that, you're not sure about and if they'll be of any use.

      Best of Luck

Hey Bremaine I believe you will succeed because it seems like you have the drive and desire to do well in this industry.

It's not a big deal if you have no experience, everyone started at the bottom.
Warriorforum is full of great IM minds that could answer any questions you have.

Look into becoming an affiliate selling other peoples products on clickbank or amazon.

There are also many WSO's on this website that are extremely useful and would benefit you. Definitely look through that section.

Stay focused and try to do one thing at a time, not a million things at once.

    You'll do great!

    Yury

Something I am learning that is very powerful is to go with your strengths. There's a million directions to go in IM, and no one can or should do it all. If something in your gut tells you to stay away from a certain area (offline marketing for a random example) then stay away.

You are very strong and talented and certain things and go much further and faster with your strengths than trying to shore up your weaknesses, plus you'll be a lot more inspired.

Consider buying the StrengthsFinder 2.0 book at strengthsfinder.com - if you buy a new copy you'll get a code to take the online strengthsfinder test - it is one of my highest recommendations.

Hi and welcome! The main thing I can recommend is to stay concentrated and dont give up...Also Do not buy tons of WSO's or any E-books especially the ones saying "make thousands of $ the first day!" Try your best to learn from free e-books and guides. If there is something your interested in a lot and see a quality WSO with great reviews you might want to check it out to hone your skills and get started.

One thing you might look into is making niche websites and putting out CPA offers with that. Best thing to do is outsource articles on your niche and then put CPA offers. Affiliate Marketing - Find the Best Affiliate Program and CPA Offers from OfferVault = a great site to find CPA offers.

If you dont know what a niche and a CPA offer is then I would recommend learning the basics and getting up a site as soon as you can!

Best of luck, Keen creation AKA - Connor

I think you have to be prepared to try a lot and not get discouraged. It's not easy to do any money making activity. I've started to do offline marketing because I haven't had much success in online businesses. If you can contiunue to make money on Fiverr that is pretty good.

The great part about this industry is it's constantly evolving. Even the people who have been at it have had to learn and adjust along the way. You get out of it what you put into it, and it sounds like you're ready to put in the work. Best of luck!

    Hey Bremaine,

You're off to a good start by earning money on Fiverr -- the first bucks I ever earned online were at Associated Content and Textbroker. Looks like you've already approached the first hurdle of IM -- taking action. Go with that, and you'll build momentum, which inevitably leads to success.

One thing I might add to the above is that it would be wise, as you build your niche blog, to include an opt-in box. iContact offers a thirty-day trial, as well as a free account. Additionally, if you nose around the Internet you can find folks who offer a kickback on their iContact affiliate commission if you sign up through their link.

As a final thought, setting goals for yourself increases your motivation and allows you to accomplish "baby steps" towards a larger objective. It's empowering to see the progress you've made, and to know that you can accomplish much more.

    Believe in yourself.

    Hope this helps,

    Jon
