Can personal development be a game?

"You shape your life and your destiny by your actions" is what most Role playing games are designed after, and most people take on them to live their dreams in virtual reality rather than making those dreams come alive in reality.

If life is a game, personal development must be a real time strategy game i think. And just like many of you already know, its all about collecting resources (good habits, skills, knowledge), using them to buy upgrades (reputation, wealth, job, happiness), securing your future (build network, establish relationships), attaining the game's goal - to reach one's life purpose. Just that, there is NO Game over.

Some days you play it as RPG (mimic your role models) , some days you go on stimulation (shut yourself for autopilot mode), some days on RTS mode (so much planning and execution) but your real enemy is only you - an undeveloping you.

What you think of it, can i make a game like software that don't eat out people's time and dont put them in virtual reality, yet gives all the benefit of playing it out for the "real" personal development?

Possible, especially for younger people like youth who need this type of interactive and fun learning. Robert Kiyosaki developed his Cash Flow game to teach people about finances so I would think that something in personal development is possible.

There's already a game on that, unfortunately. It's called Life.

The game will capture the path and method of progress of different walks of people who successfully transformed their life, this can serve as a blueprint to rest of people towards the optimal path and methodology thereby reducing the time people take to undergo transformation and increase the lifetime left over to do actual contribution to mankind.

Something i got the idea from reading this in Wiki:

Neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) is an approach to psychotherapy and organizational change based on "a model of interpersonal communication chiefly concerned with the relationship between successful patterns of behaviour and the subjective experiences (esp. patterns of thought) underlying them" and "a system of alternative therapy based on this which seeks to educate people in self-awareness and effective communication, and to change their patterns of mental and emotional behaviour".

If someone can program themselves merely following the behaviour of successful people, think about an online catalogue to choose from, exactly who (or how) you want to become, and actually measure your progress towards it?
