Greetings fellow warriors,

I just wanted to pass along my own experiences with P90X and IM. I'm very new to IM and have been getting overwhelmed by all the information out there as well as not taking as much action as I should.

I'm on week 3 of the P90X workout and I will say not only do I feel better and have more energy, but after my work out I sit down and start working on my online IM business and I feel more focused.

So anyone who has the extra money I highly recommend giving the P90X a try. Warning it is an intense workout but keep with it and I think it will help you like it has myself.

I agree that good exercise can help focus you more when working in any field that involves heavy thinking. I don't know if I'd recommend P90X to everyone though. There is a high percentage of people who end up quitting because it's too hard, then they end up doing nothing at all. I would recommend finding something that fits your specific needs and level of fitness. Something that you can do consistently, and that you can challenge yourself the further you get along.

Now if you ARE at a certain level of fitness, a great alternative to P90X is Crossfit. It's a free website where everyone does the same workout of the day. Amazing program.

Keep in mind how important it is to eat healthy as well. I don't believe in dieting. If you're going to make a healthy change it needs to be permanent, not a diet. Eating Paleo has worked wonders for me. Not only am I physically feeling amazing, but I've been sharper than ever.

    Hope this all helps!

I completely agree with you about Crossfit. It's intense, but it's a great option for those that don't have much time. I sprinkle them in (a couple a week), to go along w/ my regular workouts. P90X is good too. The key is to stay active and make exercise and nutrition a part of your life. You'll have more energy, self-confidence, and be more focused.

I've been doing a program called "You are your own gym." It's similar in concept I guess to P90X but focuses only on body weight exercises you can do at home or on the road. Definitely the best friend of a beginner, someone who hates the gym, or a traveler.

It's a (pretty intense) workout regimen that's gained some popularity over trhe last few months (at least among my group of friends). They're absolutely KILLING it at the gym (both in terms of weight loss and their actual bodies) and are burning off the fat and slapping on a healthy dose of muscle.

p90x rules, but it is the toughest program I have ever been on. I think the trick to it is not to try to be perfect but to just keep showing up. It might take 2 or 3 cycles of it before you can make it all the way through a workout without feeling like a complete failure. But the program does produce awesome results.

My biggest complaint is that some of the workouts are too long. I really don't have more than an hour a day, and with the hour long workout plus 15 minutes of ab work etc. it gets really long.

Workout/Exercise and eat healthy is the best way to go. I also take this supplement called Isotonix opc-3 everyday. They are kind of expensive but there is a reason. It makes me not tired and I get up in the morning with no problem, I can stay up another 2 hours without feeling tired.

          2 hours x 7 days = 14 extra hours of IM for me =)

Wow, thanks everyone for the input and alternatives for P90X. I agree it is a crazy intense tough workout, but I like the way the guy thinks that is showing you the workouts.

I just the various different things in the P90X program it' just not always working out arms, legs, back, you do yoga and kenpo think it gives it a nice change up.

He tells you do your best and forget the rest. If you do 1 pull up and at the end of the month you can do 2 hey you made an improvement. My thoughts to all is get back to it and don't quit no matter how hard any program or workout is, just make sure you are doing something.

      Razarulz,

The Program is on the morning infomericals haha. You get 3 phase to workout (3 months) and each phase changes up what you do and how you workout to give you maximum muscle confusion to get strong and better shape. You just need a place to do pull ups, push ups, some weights and a small area to move around in.

I tried doing p90x and couldn't do it, especially in the plyometrics, owww. But i told myself that i was going to get back on it during the summer. You kinda have to be in decent shape to even start it. I DO BELIEVE THAT YOUR HEALTH DOES HAVE A RIPPLE AFFECT ON ALL AREAS OF YOUR LIFE. P90X is pretty sweet, but like a lot of people said its tough and long.

On days where I'm busy, I'll just do the first half. 30 minutes of stretching and exercise is a LOT better than none at all!

P90x. It was very popular last year. Well, I think it still is.
The problem with P90x is whats next?
I mean after you've done the system, you loose or gain what you have been striving for, there should a much simpler one so as to maintain the body that you have worked for. I'm not sure if there is one like P90xB or something out there, but if not, I do hope they make one.

You don't have to stop after the 90 days (3 months) you just start over again in phase 1. Just keep doing it and you don't have to keep going crazy just do what you can and enjoy the workout.

As someone who recently lost 20 lbs in the last 2 months, I personally believe to good health is a lifestyle of temptation-resistant choices. Not easy, it's an inner game especially since I was a sugar junkie and comfort eater.

My exercise of choice. The Spartacus Workout. Alwyn Cosgrove's work with Men's Health on the new field of Metabolic Resistance Training is really the quickest way to gain lean mass while losing fat at the same time. Really tough but so so awesome.

I recommend Insanity, Turbo Fire and Zuzana's workouts at bodyrock.tv as well.

Team Beachbody, the company that produces P90X, has a couple programs that you can do after you finish P90X. P90X+, Insanity, and The Asylum are all really intense programs you can do afterwards.

However, if you haven't done P90X yet, don't let that be an excuse to keep you from starting. Just keep pressing Play!

What sort of supplement is that? Personally, I don't take any supplements because they have side effects no matter what the manufacturers claim.

Being natural is the way to go. And if you want to stay up a bit longer and not get tires, a healthy dose of caffeine would suit you fine.

Yep, as they say, you're the one who's got to live in your skin, so you might as well take good care of your body!

And your health really does affect you holistically.

P90x was a little too much for me. Not because of the workout intensity, but just because I felt like it took a lot more commitment than I was able to dedicate. My own fault really. I currently have my own workout plan that requires me only to workout 3 times a week, but it is a very advanced and high-octane program that actually requires me to have those 4 days rest. I really put a beating on my body the 3 days that I am in the gym.

P90x completely increases focus. Working out in general releases plenty of endorphins, in turn making you feel better for the rest of the day. I personally work out during my lunch break at work. Not only does it break up the work day, but it is a better pick-me-up than any cup of coffee could ever be. In renews my body for the second half of the day.

It is such a great feeling to workout hard, hit the shower, and then sit down and do what you want to do knowing that you got the gym out of the way =]

Keep up the good work, P90x will really transform your body if you stay with it the entire 90 days.

Yea I have tried Insanity, when I tried just the first day fit test to get your starting numbers I felt like I was going to throw-up. Did it for 2 weeks got really sick and never went back to it, now that I got off my butt thought let me try the P90X and so far I'm having fun sweating and being in pain.

Hey guys, I have P90X and i have been doing it on and off but wow when i do it - it works! I love the concept of muscle confusion - When I am active with it I start seeing muscles I never knew existed.

One advice I would give to those who are just starting off with P90X is to just do it and don't worry about your form and not looking good or doing the exercises perfectly - if you do that then it will take too long for you to get comfortable instead just know that being active is the trick.

Just move and have fun and you will see great results - now if only i had more time in the day to do it myself! haha I think I just might start again!

    thanx for the post

        Karthik,

I agree with gordon you really need to watch what you eat, always tough to do. I'm still fighting that part of getting myself healthy. I will always suggest a least a little bit of exercise. Walk around the block, do a few push ups and sit ups. If you can only do 1-100 doesn't really matter. What matters is you make the effort, just like in IM you MUST take action or nothing will happen.

As you lose some weight and feel better pick up the more exercise you do. This is why I like the P90X guy his slogan is simple: Do your best and forget the rest.

Please note this just my opinion, I'm no doctor, weight trainer or anything like that.

I just finished my first round of P90X and I'm liking the results...lost 16 pounds and I am leaner .

Going to do a second round of P90X but make it a little tougher on myself this time around by doing the workouts twice a day maybe with exception of Plyo and Yoga :p.

And like the first round stay on the Phase I portion of the diet.

I eventually will give Beachbody workout programs Insanity and Brazilian Buttlift a go too .

Working out definitely seems to give me more energy, motivation, and focus when it comes to IM stuff...I'm noticing now that I've taken a break from working out that for the last week or 2 that I'm not as energetic or focused

So it's back to working out and following the diet to a "T" for me .

I've never tried P90X, I just do my own workouts that I come up with. I have all the equipment I need in my house (bench, weights etc but no cardio stuff, that is what a bike and the outside is for ) Any exercise is going to help you think clearer and feel better about yourself and get more energy

Everyone seems to think there is some magic formula to getting in shape, but as Gordon Gekko said, your diet is a major part of that. I'd like to add that if you are looking to see quicker results and increase muscle strength etc, then you should make sure you focus on maintaining a perfect form when doing the exercises.

I think exercising at lunch time can be great as it is a good time-out and a good way to let off some steam and allows me focus better in the afternoon. It also helps me with my sleep too.

I wish you luck, not sure you should go for doing it 2 times a day but hey go for it. Yea I think the 2nd part of doing stuff it sticking with it. Step 1 must take action step 2 keep doing it.

Yea I agree taking a break at lunch or doing something just to get away from whatever, even if you walk around the block or something just to get away, always seems to help me also.

P90X will let you know the definition of "commitment" in the 1st workout. Just like IM, it hurts! But keep pushing play every day, do your best and you will get better!

My first day on P90X I was at 225 lbs and I am 5'11. I dropped 12 in 3 weeks without doing any modifications on my diet. The first 15 minutes I felt like quitting, but I did follow Tony's recommendation to keep going...but of course I took turtle steps to actually finish the program the first days for the remaining 30 minutes or so.

P90x is challenging, but try "Insanity!" My personal experience, it's way more challenging and gets you lean faster. Of course, a "NOS" and a "Adrenaline" will definitely help for a few days

Yes INSANITY!!! is the toughest workout I have ever done in my life damn there is nothing that compares to how tough it is, your own body is enough resistance and Insanity will prove that too you.

I just came across this thread and I must say that I am interested also in P90X.

I am currently doing IM but after hearing someone's advice , I need to do a daily workout also.

Now my questions is , before I start the program ( Already bought it ) , is it necessary to buy the vitamins/proteins they recommend ?

From my research , these kind of things are dangerous for our body , so I was just looking to workout without these things.

Anyone did something similar and had great results?

    Cheers,

    Tony Shuy

I'v been stayin on the first phase (3 phases) for ages!!

The P90X training is intense initially, still having problem to complete some of the sessions, but after a while your body will get use to the intensity.

I think apart from the exercise, diet is more important but i'v find it complicated.

    what and when to eat...etc.

    any idea???

Thanks for the links to my results posts, Timo!

Indeed, I've had great success with both programs. One thing to keep in mind though is that once you finish, you have to do SOMETHING active to maintain what you gained out of it. You'll shred fat, build muscle and feel energetic after it's over, but if you just sit and do nothing again then you'll slowly go back to where you were. You don't have to go through the program again, but just do something - sports, gym, whatever.

Both gave me killer results, and I actually like Insanity better because I can stand the instructor (Shaun T.) a lot more, and the workouts are a tad bit shorter, at least for the first 30 days.

If anyone has any specific questions about either program (or even Insanity-Asylum, which is the next step up after Insanity and what I'm about to try next), please let me know.

To be honest, I did sign up as a BeachBody coach (partly to get the 25% affiliate commission, but also because I really do believe in the program and want to help others too), but I'm not going to drop any affiliate links in here. Again, if you have any questions just ask away, or shoot me a pm or email.

      Keep bringing it Cheilman!

Thanks for the info patflynn !

I have one question , if you would like to answer.

    Does their protein/supliments help?

Because I don't want to fill my body with junk stuff and after 10 years suffer from cancer and somethign similar.

    Thanks in advance,

      Hey Tony,

      Supplements do help.

They do carry a line of multi-vitamins and protein bars, which I did not take because they were a bit pricey and I could get the same nutritional content elsewhere, especially if I just simply ate well/correctly, or went to Costco to get some protein bars, hehe.

They also have something called a "recovery drink formula", which is an orangey type drink with nutrition that your body needs at that moment in time immediately after you workout (you have a time frame of 0 to 30 minutes to really maximize the efforts of whatever you put into your body immediately after your workout). Namely, those things your body needs are protein and good carbs. Do you NEED this recovery formula? No. Will it help - indeed it will - a lot. Your muscles don't feel quite as sore the next day and you can crush the next workout, although again you can get the same nutritional content elsewhere (I found it in fat-free chocolate milk, which to me tasted a lot better and was a lot cheaper too).

There is one thing I've decided I will spend the money on as far as beachbody supplements are concerned, and it's for something called Shakeology - literally the best dang tasting nutritional supplemental shake I've ever had, packed with a ton of great things for your body. It's a bit expensive (like $100 for a 30 day supply), but I've recently been having it for breakfast, which is super convenient and to me worth the price, because it gives me energy, nutrition and it's all natural stuff. Google it and you'll see a lot of people raving about it - some actually give it to their kids before they go to school because they know it has all this goodness in it, and they like the taste.

Also, I'd just like to mention, from a marketing perspective, these guys (BeachBody) are a fantastic example of something this is definitely working today. Taking something that normally is 1 on 1 and not scalable whatsoever (personal training), turning it into a digital product that can be available to anyone, expanding on it by creating relevant products for upsells (all the supplements I mentioned above, plus equipment for some of the programs, etc.), and an affiliate program to build a sort of underground sales force (so that people like me who went through the program can answer questions for people, like I'm doing here) - it's just awesome to see happening.

Again, let me know if you or anyone else has any more questions. Cheers!

Sorry for my delay and super thanks to patflynn for replying. No you don't really need any extras. While helpful not 100% needed but does help. But there are many cheaper alternatives.

I know this thread is a couple months old, but I'm a P90X fanatic and had to jump in. I've completed the program 6 times over the past few years and think it's great. It's structures, easy to follow, and is versatile (provides options for each exercise as well as the nutrtion guide). After my first round, I actually felt I got too skinny (when did you ever hear of a fitness program that works too well). I lost 25lbs and got down to about 8% body fat. These days I spent half the year spending time in the gym and they use P90X to lean out a bit for the summer. When I do P90X, I use it for the resistance days and either Insanity or Asylum for the cardio days.

I think someone else here referenced Power 90. I started with that program first before progressing to P90X. It's a little dated, but it's basic and is great for someone not in OK shape if they're looking for a good fat loss exercise program. Plus it's half the cost of P90X, requires less equipment and the workouts are shorter.

If anyone is one the fence and would like another opinion or to see my results, feel free to let me know.

P90X is also why I got into IM (for those who don't know there's is an affiliate marketing side/MLM to it). I became a P90X/Beachbody coach to help others and then figured I might as well see I could use it to market online.

That's it, just wanted to share my story and thoughts on the program.

I have to add that P90X is the perfect exercise program for those that are working from home.

I can jump in and do the routine at any point of my day. It especially nice to mix it in when I'm stuck on a project. It clears your mind and gets you back on track. That will happen with any exercise routine, but P90X makes it easy!
