What are your plans this week, month, and year?

Honestly everyone, set up some plans of what you want to do with yourself in this business.

Otherwise you will end up with Information overload and no one likes that one bit!

I suggest that you get something to help you focus. Whether it is a whiteboard, notepad, software, etc. , you should begin to make to do lists and set goals.

What do you want to get done today?

What about tomorrow?

This week?

This Month?

This Year?

The more you can focus the better you will be able to succeed.

I just got a software from Brian Zimmerman the focus master this morning and I've gotten a good amount done today.

It really helps to plan out what you want to do instead of being distracted by all the cool info here on the forum!

Agree, I think planning is the real key... and overlooked by so many...

At least thats what's really helped me. When I started planning - and I mean writing real, written down, solid plans (based off long term goals) that I swore to stick to... thats when I first started seeing some success...

Then I got obsessed by planning, writing massive daily to do lists, when I first started this would even include every single minor task such as "send 5 emails out to blog owners" and "write 2 articles for ezine articles".... everything got done, I was obsessed.... and this filtered up to match weekly and monthly goals.... such as getting x amount of new pages online on my main website, making more revenue, increasing traffic.

    So, anyway, here's current goals:
    • Today: Get another email sent out to my list on one of my sites.
    • Tomorrow: Write up 2 new sales pages and email some new JV partners.
    • This week: Email all previous JV partners and invite them to my next launch.
    • This month: Get all new product salespages online for my new site. Fully write an entire affiliate materials area for it, complete with emails and articles for affiliate use.
    • This year: Get my 3rd site up and running to the point where it's on target to grow and make $100 - $150k profit in year one and still growing to double up in year 2.
I truly believe... from past personal experience, that if you put in enough "Today" and "Tomorrow" type tasks, that the sorts of results in "This Year" type tasks are truly possible!

Wow those are some great goals.

      Here's my big one:

Build list of 20 K by August 1. Then Launch my first product "Internet Cash Society"

Hoping to bank 100k on my first launch.

I'd be happy with 10-20k though as well...

I couldn't agree more! At the end of last year I looked at my bottom line and realized that the growth almost ground to a halt in July when I stopped using my planning calendar and working on achieving the goals I set out for myself. Instead, I got caught up in the mundane daily work that HAD to be done but didn't move me forward.

Once I stopped that and went back to my projects and goals I found that life got better

There's a seriously good question I've been putting off for a while... I have an outline in my head but things happen clearer when they're down on paper.

I don't think you can ever plan exactly... but a rough map is a good thing.

    Hey Mike,
You have my name Don't let this go to your head but the Hebrew translation I belive is gift from God. Yeah thing about that, we're presents lol...... anyway could you elaborate more on this software? I was thinking about buying a planner the other day. I didn't know if this would actually make me more focused, or be another thing that collects dust. Thanks for your time Mike

I always write everything down. That way, I am always held to some sort of accountability.

Usually, I'll make a short "to do" list each night. I base it off of my wants/needs. First things that get done are the needs. Once I accomplish those, then I can begin to tackle the things I want to get done. That way, I don't get sidetracked and end up working on things I want done, rather than what I need finished.

Of course, there are times I get derailed, which is why it's good to take breaks. Sitting down for hours at a time usually ends up in hours of being unproductive. I'm better at working in bursts, as I find I'm more productive when I only have so many minutes to complete a task. I've had problems with procrastination (as I'm sure we all have), so if I *know* I have "all day", I won't get things done until the last minute.

I also write down short-term (this week, this month) goals, as well as more long-term (next 3 months, next 6 months, etc) goals. Celebrate short-term goals as milestones for your long-term goals. When you devise a solid plan that allows you to stay focused and on point, once you look back at everything months later, you'll be quite surprised at what you accomplished

I always write it down on a piece of paper. (Yeah, I'm a bit oldschool.)

But other then that, I'm just productive. I try to keep time spent on this
forum to a minimum, but that never goes according to plan? There are
times when self-control should kick in and get stuff done. So, discipline the
way you do things in the beginning.

I don't have any future plans in IM niche. Because, I'm not looking to go forward as internet marketer. I was an internet marketer since I need little considerable initial capital to starting my own software company. So, I work hard all the time for my dream. Through internet marketer's view, I think only about present moment.

Yea i agree, without planning ahead or setting yourself time contraints you lose alot of time. Set REALISTIC goals for yourself aswell, because when crunch time comes and you havet reached your goals it could demotivate you alot. Keep at it, keep focussed.

Well said. I think that when a lot of people start this out they think they're going to be making thousands with in days. This makes them set unrealistic goals for themselves.

FWIW, I use Mozilla Sunbird to organise myself. It's great because you can set such goals and measure them against the time you made them.

Week: Get a couple of high-quality backlinks to my sites, write a couple of EZA articles, make at least 3 quality posts to my sites.

Month: Triple my AdSense earnings from last month (should be doable). Finish a website, have made at least 10 quality posts to my sites and 100 worthwhile posts on various web forums (including this one). Finish one of the Flash programs I'm working on that will be the core of one of the new websites.

Year: By the end of the year I want to be making an amount of money equivalent to welfare. This might not sound like much, but 1) having been a student for most of my adult life I know I can live off that and 2) it represents independence, if not luxurious wealth. That can come in 2012
I want to have 10 websites up and running and full of high-value posts and a dedicated readership.

I just bought a software goalenforcer today, well it was free but i upgraded for $1 and it works pretty well for me. Goal setting is very important to keep you on track. I think i read somewhere that people that goal set are 80% more likely to be succesfull than someone who doesn''t. Well here's the link if anyone wants to try the program out.
