Hate "The Matrix", love the quote.

Here's a little something I noticed about IM and many of the threads here on WF. There's a lot of frustration, some talk about what works and lots of talk about what doesn't work, lots of struggle... On and on it goes.

So when I got started, all of six weeks ago, I quickly filled my days with struggle, frustration, and tried desperately to avoid failure. Didn't know what to do? Read more Warrior Forum! More confused than before? MORE Warrior Forum!!!

Finally, I recorded a nice little hypnosis that I entitled, "Quiet Creation". The hypnosis track put me into a state of focus and no matter how noisy things got around me, I would quietly do my thing. Don't know what the general opinions are on hypnosis around here but I find it very helpful for mindset.

In the three weeks since I recorded that hypnosis, I've sold over twenty articles and gained what I believe to be some long-term business relationships. I've made about $150 selling my writing and the future looks bright. It's as if I can't stop advancing.

So how about that non-existent spoon? Here's the thing: although IM seems to be rife with people giving up and getting frustrated, none of those struggles are yours until you welcome them into your life. That's right... as far as you know, those experiences aren't even real until you request them and take them on as your own.

The brain can't tell the difference between fiction and reality. If you read how IM is basically dead, how 99% of people fail, and how difficult it is, you will quickly find that...

  • IM is dead
  • You have a 99% chance of failure
  • It's extraordinarily difficult to do anything
And yet, people are making money all the time. Newbies and veterans alike. The difference is that the successful people don't seek out experiences they don't want. They mostly ignore the noise, occasionally acknowledge it but never accept it as they're own truth. To do so would be to self-immolate.

So I've got a bit of advice for those among us who have bought one too many WSO's, looking for the path of least resistance. Take your last $10, visit Despair dot com, and buy a nice, demotivational poster. Hang it over your computer and stare at it everyday. Accept the fact that you didn't really want success. You just wanted to try something new, fail miserably, and buy a poster from Despair to commemorate your failure. Happens all the time.

However, if you're ready, you can create your own little slice of reality. Don't allow the experiences of other people to become your cage. The brain works hard to avert loss so when it see's people losing all across the board, of course it doesn't want to go there. Ignore the noise and create quietly.

Just keep at it, this may not be the easiest field, but the rewards are great. And honestly, it is true, we do creat our own reality. I mean litterally, look up on current events in physics, but from what their understanding is that we do live in a sort of matrix, where we create the physcal. I'm not trying to sound like a matrix fanatic, but yeah, its true. You should watch the secret, its based upon the same principles.

Hey Tim. I completely agree. No matter where you go both online and offline there are always people who are doomsday folk. The world is ending; your company is closing next week - then the next, then the next; there's no money to be made online; you're just wasting time, etc, etc, etc. The list never ends and those people are everywhere.

I don't know if it's just lack of time or just being stubborn to build a successful business but I just ignore it all. I pay no attention to those who have nothing better to do with their time then to criticize others for trying to improve their lives and make a difference.

One of my biggest pet peeves are people who spend their entire free time watching TV and doing nothing but complain constantly about how their life has turned out. The act like the world owes them a favor, owes them a good life. They blame family, government, and the rich instead of taking responsibility of their life and doing something.

Sure I might spend hours a day working on sometime and yes there is a chance that it will fail.

One of my favorite quotes is from Wayne Gretsky who said "You miss all the shots you don't take". Can you imagine a hockey player taking the attitude of some people? "I don't bother shooting at the net because I know I'm going to miss anyways".

I say the hell with what others say and think.. Just believe in yourself and keep working on reaching your goals and growing your business.

    Take care,
    Shannon

P.S. I haven't tried the hypnosis path... but I find if you download MP3s of the sound of rain, especially rain on a tarp/tent, and play that with headphones (noise cancellation is the best) when there is noise around it drowns it out wonderfully. Plus the sound of rain is soothing and helps focus.

I find music distracting as I tend to want to sing along which takes away from my concentration on getting things done.
