A few weeks ago I heard the tail end of a fascinating story. It was about a top level Hollywood executive. When he first started out in the business he had no clients, no movies, no money. So he took out his book of contacts and made a point of starting every day by calling a few of them. Not for any reason other than just to stay in touch. He stuck to this routine like clockwork.

Over time, because of his ability to network, this person became one of the most powerful names in hollywood and credits this one habit, which he still does, for turning around his career.

Unfortunately that's all I know. Does anyone know about this story or who this might be?

I'm working on a blog post about the importance of one-to-one contact and this anecdote would be perfect. Unfortunately I've reached the end of the internet and can't find "the rest of the story".

If you know what I'm talking about, please share. I'm dying to hear more.

    Yeah, at the time when I heard it I thought it was a well-known story, so I just kind of filed it away as something I could easily look up later on. Turns out I was wrong.

      I have read some similar story from Robert Kiosaki books. There was a car seller as an example with similar strategy.

      Maybe you should outsorce that research to somebody? I have tried 10 min but nothing found in Google. Wery interesting story. Thanks.

    This could be a story for a great movie , IMO

    The story can't be find with Google.

    You could ask your friends about these , maybe they heard about it at news or similar source. You will have a better chance

    Yes don't know who this is, but I believe the principle.

    Also heard the story about the car salesman.. if it's the same one hes in the guinness book for records for being the most successful car salesman ever and his main thing he does is take everyones name and address who he deals with and send them a birthday card and a christmas card... hes known all over and gets so much business by recommendation... brilliant.
