The Power of Mnemonics and the Memory Palace of Mateo Ricci

I remember reading about mnemonics in the book The Memory Palace of Mateo Ricci (highly recommend this) and again in the Hannibal Lecter books, but don't really see too much else about it. Is it just because this practice has fallen out of vogue? I think its pretty amazing and only dream of one day attaining Ricci's mental real estate.

    I just reread Hannibal, and was thinking about this.

    At the end of Hannibal, Thomas Harris recommends Frances A. Yates' The Art Of Memory and Jonathan D. Spence's The Memory Palace Of Matteo Ricci. I read Spence's book a long time ago, but never read Yates' though I've heard good things about it.

    I'm thinking of digging into this more.

    Anyway, you might also enjoy this article by Daniel Levis.
