Business Is Like Sex Itself.........Mentally!

Hi Good People,

Gotta start by saying the new format and design of the forum is great..Kudos to the Team!

By the title alone I'm sure that's why many of you are here, and for good reason because I feel this will resonate with quite a few of you.
As "mature" adults and well thinking human beings.lol. I really feel the metaphor I'll use for such a post is fitting and will be accepted by most if not all.

Ya know, a lot of people who decide to become a business owner or those who felt it was simply in their DNA to be a business owner. Often miss the mark in regard to really hitting a home run and building a successful business sooner than it sometimes takes. True enough there are business that simply take time to grow and years of credibility building to establish, but I'm simply referring to the time lost and reaching success much sooner. The reason why the tite is called what it is because business truly is like SEX. Now, this is going to be quick (no pun intended) and to the point, but clarification should be evident and understood.

I'll only speak from a male perspective since that is what I am, so for the women who read this please feel free to comment. As men we are naturally aggressive and territorial (from my experience), and from the start of most things we involve ourselves in(particularly business). We tend to immediately assert our dominance subconsciously and consciously on how "we are going to leave our mark" or "I'm going to dominate this thing"..If your a man and you haven't felt that way, your lying out your teeth..lol. Anyway, with that type of thinking it serves us both well and less than well at times. For the most part it does invigorate us to take action and perform at our A game, but for those times when assertion and male ego have no place in the scenario. We neglect to turn it down a notch and being our bull headed self, lose sight of the bigger picture. Now, this isn't all the time, so for all the meticulous, literal readers...calm your nerves.

So, how does this tie in with sex, right? Here's your answer (as I see best) Engaging in sex sometimes requires us as men to be assertive and aggressive because just maybe our partner likes that...again SOMETIMES. But, in business we tend to keep the dial turned on high to long and to much that it leaves us with less than what we hoped for. The same is in the bedroom fella's, and take heed if you want. Just think about this and comment please... How often are the words uttered, written in magazines, or discussed amongst women and their friends about not being satisfied in "that way"? Waaaay to many..Yes, even about YOU!..lol. However, I've likened it to what we experience in business when results don't happen as we'd like them too. So, here it is in a nutshell... If you can take into consideration and treat your business like a woman and realize that sometimes assertion and aggression needs to be put to rest. If you notice that what works and what gets a "amazing" type of feeling and response most of us want to hear. Then juuuuuuust maybe fella's it's good to pull back and just ease into it and take it slow once in a while. Not saying be passive, but simply less concerned of getting what we want and truly aiming to please what our clients/customers..or partner wants. I learned this over time and it has served me well in both scenarios, so I hope you gain something from this little metaphor and take it serious as comedic as it is.
