Who Is Shutruk Nahunte?

I am Shutruk-Nahunte, King of Anshand and Susa, Soverign of the land of Elam by the command of Inshushinak. I destroyed Sippar, took the stele of Niran-sin, and brought it back to Elam, where I erected it as an offering to my god, Inshushinak.

Is anyone familiar with this fellow?

Look in the texts but you won't find it anywhere. (Well, Google ya).

He was a King.

And behold his accomplishment cannot be found in any history book? WHY?

Because...

Great ambition and conquest without contribution is without significance.

What will your contribution be?

How will history remember you?

Shutruk Nahunte, utterly forgotten

Unlike the great men we do remember.

Aristotle. Ceasar. Augustus. Plato. Socrates. The Maimonides.

Many of the greats of religion and specifically for me in Judaism, the great sages of our past and modern history.

Many of today's modern greats. Jim Rohn. Zig Ziglar. Tony Robbins. Les Brown.

Giants of history. Men of profound characters.

Men who accomplishments surpassed their own life time. And survive even into our own.

Their story is our story.

And the future story, is our story.

So...

What will you be remembered for?

(This is a paraphrase of a great movie I saw last night called The Emperor's Club. A movie about a teacher and his students, his belief in their potential. And more so, how to appreciate what you have done in your lifetime, among some failures).

The other day I was talking to a friend of mine thinking about all our teachers/mentors we had in the past years...and to me one man sticks out.

He was my 12th grade High School teacher, a great man full of honor and respect. He is over 70 years old and yet has the energy of a 30 years old. He is full of life and has a purpose to show his students the way of being.

With that said, this man, a few times a year gave his famous "Funeral Speech" when us boys were not up to par.

The point of the speech was to point out what will NOT be said about us, at the end of days. Though the words won't do justice, just imagine an old man, screaming and even swearing, full of life, crying and a great actor if I must say so.

    It goes something like this:

    OYYYYYY!!!!

What a great loss today!!! All I can do is cry for this person. What a great man.

He was the best at being able to tell the difference between Coke Cola and Pepsi and gosh, did he know the different between Lays and Herrs Potato Chips.

OYYYYY, what a lost for this world. No one would be able to do what he does again.

And boy, to be able to see how he eats that donuts with such zest, no one will be able to live up to this man.

    END.

What will your eulogy be about?
