Hey Warriors,

I want to share my experience with affirmations . What I did wrong and what i did right and maybe steer someone in the right direction

Ok, so i heard it was a good idea to say affirmation so that you reprogram yourmind in the right direction . So i thought i give a go ... Anyhow, i Went to Harv Eker Seminar (which was amazing by the way) and he gave out some incredible affirmations

i went through the workbook religiously and said my affirmations out loud like my life depended on it I was almost homeless back then and not doing what they suggested was out of question

i have to say the affirmation did stick in my subconscious but there was a problem

I said affiramtion for 90 days straight day and nothing happened!!

This was because I wasn't clear what action am going to take to achieve

I just said the affirmation everyday and rejoiced everyday until I got to day 90.

Then i realised i was doing it all wrong ....

it is better to take new constructive action and change your results , then your affirmations would naturally change

When you get results , you won't think it is hard anymore . It is easy now because you know

It is no good affirming to telling yourself your situation is easy when you know in deep down in your mind you are really struggling

Your mind never argues with the experience you have .

if you have good experience with your challenge and you get around it , you would naturally have different things to affirm about your ex

If you really want to change the results in your life ,

make a list of the steps you need to achieve your outcome and then take action until you see results .

Your affirmations would naturally change because you experience is now good and you have the result you dreamed of

Take the constructive action first and change your experience , you would transform your self-talk and your life

Hope this post helps someone out there

Much love ...

Femi

I have to agree with you there.

I have been reading a truly inspiring book: "What you say is what you get" by Don Gossett.

If I have learnt nothing else it is that one's mind believes what your mouth is saying. The key however is to ensure that you actually believe what you are saying in order for your mind to accept it as fact and align itself accordingly.

Often this does require action on your part to change your circumstances so that your mind and your mouth will be in harmony.

    I'll agree with that.

It's less that affirmations don't work and more they work the way a trim tab on a rudder or tail fin of an airplane does, applying a little force to make going in the direction you want easier.

Yes, I stole that from Buckminster Fuller, but it works. And Fuller was awesome.

Basically: by repeating affirmations and feeling them as true (an important part), you create a picture in your head of what things could be like if they were true. Which often helps in actually bringing them about.

You still have to change what you're doing to what works and, perhaps more importantly, what works for you.

I like where you are going with this.

I think you really have to be in alignment with your source energy. Know who you are and where you live.

If you don't know these things then everything seems like a struggle. So... just repeating things and taking action will not last if it is not in alignment with you true self.

I think this is what you were trying to say, come into alignment by doing things that make you feel good and then the words for your affirmations will come naturally. Peace

I find my goals--the ones that really make me go, "WOOHOO!" every time I think about them, work better as affirmations. That is, if it's a choice between slumping on the couch and not taking the next step and a choice between taking that next step, I go to those WOOHOO goals and start really getting into them, and then I can move on with that action. The affirmations help by giving me the belief that I can, but I often find sometimes that they are even more counter-productive. Because on days when I feel lousy (and it happens!) I start wondering if I'm putting my dreams in danger because I feel too tired to feel positive, or feel too impatient, or am letting worry derail me. That's not a good state for feeling motivated!
