I wouldn't have believed it years ago, but slowly I'm starting to understand that everything I own, failures and successes, have all been designed and built in my mind.

Yep... our outlook on life can make such a difference. Being able to see the silver lining, or make lemon-aid when life gives you lemons is most helpful.

The mind is creating the reality that you live in.

The most exciting thing is realizing that everyone is creating a unique reality independent of everyone else.

When one takes a look at all the people in the world, you find millions of "different realities". People who see the world very differently from each other and people who live drastically different lives.

If you think of life as a game and the people as players, after a while you realize that each of the players are playing separate games that overlap each other from time to time.

That's only half true, because everyone else's reality is effecting ours.

Lately we've been finding that these theories are taken to the extreme by some teachers.

Certainly your thoughts create SOME aspects of your reality... but thoughts are not very powerful compared to emotions. Your emotions around those thoughts create MORE aspects of YOUR reality than the original thoughts do.

But the small-picture "tree reality" you talk about here is only one small aspect of what's going on. It's the world you experience in your house, your job, your relationships, your family. But the world is bigger and more expansive than that.

There's also a big-picture "forest reality" that you DON'T and CAN'T create with your thoughts; and yet you still experience it. All you can control is your reaction to it, nothing more.

If we each created our own "forest reality", then there would be no consistency among our own "tree realities". One of you would say that John McCain was the next President, another would say it was Ron Paul, a third would say it was Hillary Clinton. If your thoughts truly created 100% of your reality, then you would only experience Obama as the next president if you really, really wanted that to happen (or really, really didn't want it to happen, and focused all your negativity on it).

      Yeah, right.

      Life ain't that black-and-white. (And neither is Obama, he's half-and-half! )

You're ONLY responsible for your own personal actions, reactions, thoughts and emotions; you can't control what happens as a result of them. You can't control the consequences, or other people's reactions, and all that also affects your reality.

As for the babies... if you think every baby is born happy, then you must not have ever had one. As the mother of an 11-week-old baby, I can tell you that ALL babies cry, and the average is 2.5 hours per day. Many babies cry a lot more than that (mine cries less, and I'm happy for that, but he is still OBVIOUSLY not happy when he cries, and he's done it since the moment he came out of the womb, just as all babies do).

Critically thinking about these things rather than just repeating what a mentor says (Larry Winget calls it being a "Dittohead") is the way to honestly find what rings true for you.

You wont get any argument from me on this.

Thinking something is only the spark to get you into feeling it.

I think the key is that everyone goes around thinking (pun intended) that their conscious thoughts and feelings are creating their world, all the while ignoring their subconsciousness, which is creating 24/7 based on what you programmed it with starting as far back as childhood.

if you learn from them, failures are just as valuable as successes. The only difference if you learn from both of them is: successes make you a little something else

    Quite right.

Your mind is so important. It needs to be developed. It needs to be stretched.

They don't teach personal development in schools, but they should!

In the 17th century they used to teach logic. In fact, I think, Yale
had Isaac Watts 'Logic' as their main text book?

    Thanks,

    Richard

I am amazed that is has taken so long for people to figure out that Positive Thinking was only part of the equation. The only gauge we have to know if we are on the right path was our emotions and feelings. Thinking you are successful is not nearly as important as feeling successful. You know your on the right track when your thinking and feelings are both what you want in your life. Sometimes to help you get started in the right direction you must fake it until you feel it.

I agree too. Robert also mentioned that sometimes you got to fake it to make it. So do whatever it takes to succeed-> within the moral, and legal boundaries of course

I agree with most of info here.

'As a man thinkth , so he is" is so true. Our dominate thoughts create our lives.

So think good thoughts and watch the magic happen!!!
