Were You Successful Today? I Was ... and You Can Be.

Were you successful today? I pose that question because, if you weren't, you chose not to be. It's not too late to make another choice though. You can choose success at any time.

You see, success isn't when we reach our goal at the end of the road, the real moments of success are each step we took to get to that last step.

Those steps often aren't fun. In fact, they can be tedious, sometimes difficult, and offer no immediate reward. Sometimes you can't tell if you're making progress, or even working on the right things.

Wanting success is easy. Doing what it takes to be successful ... not so much.

That's why so many never really get started, or if they do, give up too easily. There's no one to high five you for taking one anonymous and seemingly unrewarding step toward your goal. There's no one to admire you for following your own star. There's no money, no honors, and no fame for simply doing something - anything - that needs to be done.

But that's the only way to succeed ... one obscure step at a time.

If you don't take that first step, and keep walking, success will draw no closer to you. Why do you think the veteran Warriors around here keep saying to take action?

Take one step toward success, and then another, and another ... and you will get there. You'll be successful each day, and when you have taken enough steps you'll be rewarded for all that previously unrewarded daily success.

That's why I was successful today. I took several steps toward my next goal. You won't notice what I did, not today anyway. It was "behind the scenes" stuff. No one knows about it but me.

One day soon though, a virtual swarm of people will know. Many will reward me with their money. My newest "success" will be recognizable then ... but not the small steps I took to get there.

This is how to succeed in IM or anything else -- one obscure step at a time.

Were you successful today? I was. You can be, too, if you haven't yet. Just take some steps, even just one step, toward your goal. Don't have a goal? SET ONE!

That's the "secret" to success, daily progress. One manageable step at a time.

Action. Movement. You can't get there by sitting still. You may take some steps in the wrong direction. We ALL do. That's called experience. Learn from it and don't repeat your mistakes.

Success is waiting for you.

What steps have you taken toward your success today? Post it here, without violating the forum rules, of course. Make it a deeper commitment than you have before. It will not only help you, it may inspire others.

Are you ready to commit yourself to the drudgery of success? Or will you keep looking for magic buttons?

Thank you-- this is a great post. And I can say yes I have been successful today! So far I have accomplished the goals I set out this morning and I still have time to go. It's a great feeling when I do that. Sometimes I feel my goal isn't getting here fast enough, but I try to focus on the little steps and know that it's out there waiting for me.

Great comments and posts. Today would not be considered a success, but it was one day closer to working toward the goal. Keeping the goal real, insight and working towards attaining it. But wait a minute, on second thought, maybe it wasn't a major success, but reaching one of the smaller goals - so maybe today could be classified On the Road to Success.

Earl Nightingale defined success as,"the progressive realization of a worthy ideal". What makes that such an excellent definition is the part "progressive realization", because it allows everything we do that moves in the direction of our goal to become a part of our success.

That way, as has been discussed already, we can capture a bit of the vision that drives us forward and be encouraged. I was thinking of the pioneers who crossed the vastness of America in search of a new home. If they made their average quota of miles, something like 5 or 6 miles, the were successful in progressing on toward their goal.

I was successful today because I accomplished the minimum I expected to do and even approached the maximum I actually thought possible. The blessing that went along with it is the enjoyment I experienced in the doing of it.

I pray you had a great day too.

You hit the nail on it its head with "drudgery of success" because in many ways making money with IM is a lot like washing the dishes every day. It's not much fun, but the alternative is a lot worse.

I couldn't have said this better myself. Success comes one step at a time. If you don't know how to achieve success write down at least five things a day and make sure you finish them before going to bed. These small steps will begin you on your journey.

Some of it can be a bit “tedious.” However I find a lot of it enjoyable too. Particularly website designing and copywriting.

Glad you share the article Jonathan And yes, I agree, making progress, even the smallest amount, everyday is the way to move forward our goals. It's not how fast you get there, it's how long you stay!

it is very nice post. success is basically relative as achieving something that was planned. so before to be a successful, first you have to determine that what you are planning to achieve.
