by hang-ups I mean the mental walls others live with in their minds. Like when you tell your friends your going to make a happy living making money on the inet, usually what i hear is something like, "oh well that wont work" or "if it was so easy why doesn't everyone do it". The bottom line is most people have these walls in their head that tell them how things are suppose to be and they simply accept these thoughts without challenging them. I try to not let their hang-ups effect my positive attitude.

Btw, there was suppose to be a link to a graphic that illustrated my point, but apparently now you need to make 15 posts before it will let me post links in my posts. If you want to see the graphic I'm referring to just click my blog link and go down to the post called, "This is a great depiction of how detrimental other peoples hang-ups can be to you".

      Thanks for asking!

I believe it allows me to post prior to 15 posts because I paid for the war room membership. Something I highly recommend, this whole forum is filled with priceless information, but the cream of the crop is in the war room!

    I agree.

I just posted something about this earlier.

    I gave 2 scenarios.

    --------

The Story of John and Jane

Here are 2 examples of 2 different people I have encountered when I sold Niche Optimizer website creation services earlier this year.

John Doe: John starts his internet marketing career and invests $988 to have 5 websites built for him by Niche Optimizer. After the websites are built John let's them sit and never touches them again. He complains about how he isn't making money online and then quits 1 month later. (this isn't uncommon)

Jane Doe: Jane starts her internet marketing career and invests only $247 for one website to be built for her by Niche Optimizer. After her single website is built she takes the initiative to learn how to build traffic to her website, add more content, and monetize the website with affiliate links. She continues to keep up with her website until she makes her first dollar (it took her 2 months). Now 8 months later she is making over $2,000 a month passive income with only 1 website. She then orders 5 more websites from Niche Optimizer to save her time. After she receives those 5 websites, she starts building traffic, adding content, and monetizing the sites. Within 1 month she made her first dollar on "each" website, and as of the last time I spoke with her she is making $200 a piece from each website and is continuing to push on.

These are both real scenarios that I have encountered in the past year of having Niche Optimizer released (it used to be a service, now it's turning into a course/service).

If you are interested you can find the entire article here: Niche Optimizer University - The Story of John and Jane

I feel many people allow others to go into a direction that doesn't lead anywhere. When I started out I had family, friends, and random strangers tell me I was stupid for going after my dreams.

And in the same respect, don't be hurtful to others. It sucks when you're put down, so put down others when they have ideas? Let them thrive

    Thanks for the post.

I guess the first step is getting to understand your own expectations for yourself, adjusting those that need to be tweeked and getting compforatable with the way you are, especially when you have woken up to the fact that the way you are is perfect, in spite of your preceived imperfections. Once we actually come to this place then other's expecations have little effect on you...

    @Alex, no problem dude.

First off your topic information was only one sentence so I was trying to express how I feel on the subject.

"What other people's expectations can do....."

It's a little short, but I felt it related to the topic as I have seen many people in the internet marketing world expect too much from something and they just tend to give up.

The example of "John Doe" which is a real scenario is someone whom started with the expectations that he was going to be making atleast $3,000 a month within his first month of internet marketing, and although it's not completely impossible, it's unrealistic.

The second example of "Jane Doe", whom is another real person with an alias actually expected the same thing, but instead of just expecting, she put the effort into actually trying to make it happen.

John Doe didn't make a single dollar in his first month, from what I saw he probably invested maybe an hour of work in that entire month and then gave up.

But the situation was the same with Jane Doe whom didn't make a dollar in her first month either had invested more than 5-6 hours a day on average.

Although she didn't make anything she didn't allow her expectations or others expectations get ahead of her. She kept trying and by the second month she made her first dollar.

She then worked for months trying to recreate that scenario and now she is making more than she did at her previous job.

Anyhow, I just felt like explaining why I felt this was a good example of expectations.

I copy and pasted the small excerpt, so I didn't add in the reasoning behind it.

Anyways, hope that helps clarify a few things

    Never give up

Sorry, this content is for students only.

@ Alex and others: very true. Once you let the expectations of others become your reality then you cease to have your own thoughts and ideas.

When you set your own expectations for yourself and realize that most other opinions do not matter. You have reached a position of great freedom and personal power.

I like to use the phrase: "There are very few opinions in this world that matter to me... yours is not one of them." This is usually said in my mind as a reminder that they can have their opinion. I'll choose if it has meaning to me.

That's why you MUST have the right reference group if you want to achieve something, you will usually require to change something.

That's why changing your reference group is critical.
Because to sustain motivation and exchange knowledge and support the people you look up to should ideally have to be sympathetic with your goals.

And it's easier to find people that are already doing what you want to do than try changing a tribe with hostile beliefs towards your vision.
