What stole your time?

I'm doing research about time and happiness and was interested in peoples real world accounts for what steals your time. Keep it brief or feel free to elaborate.

Thanks in advance for your input, it's greatly appreciated!

Alex.

Agreed. Not only are jobs a time sink, but unfortunately, they are often a drain on your spiritual, physical, and emotional health as well. Stress is the biggest cause of health problems of all time.

If your referring to what steals time during a work day it would be facebook, its the worst I login to check my FB ads and next thing you know I am looking at a buddies girlfriends beach pictures At least I am aware of that and nip it in the bud and immediately get myself into check and back on the task at hand as her beach bod is not gonna make me any wealthier.

If its personal/leisure time theft it would be fixing things around the house, yardwork, working on a new WSO and book, travel research, cycling, kayaking, reading and spending time with my family.

My 9 - 5 job, the TV and the internet .. The internet was probably the biggest distraction, I'd be sitting there try to do some keyword research or something and some random thought pops into my head and for kicks I stop what I'm doing and Google it .. I think you all know what I'm talking about ..

I don't watch much TV and when I do, it's intentional and we usually pick something fascinating from the Netflix selection. I find my biggest time stealer to be people who want to talk about other people and their problems. I don't care about your sister-in-law's boss whose husband is running around. I'd rather hear why you care about it. People who repeat themselves just because you'll listen drive me crazy too. I usually stop them at some point and say, "I think I understand what you're trying to say. So how does that affect you and how can I help?" That usually does the trick.

I don't watch much TV, so that doesn't steal much time. I find that people who want to talk about other people and their problems waste my time. I don't care what your sister's boyfriend's mother does to look younger. I'd rather hear why you care about it. People who repeat themselves waste my time, too. Get to the point or you might hear me say, "I think I hear you saying this. How do you feel about that?"

Here are my three things that usually steals my time.

    1. Listening to music on Youtube.
    2. Working on projects for clients.
    3. Going on Facebook.. it's addictive.

Well, Facebook won't be around on the 5th I heard. So, if that's really true - I won't be logging in. Haha. Doubt anything will happen despite the rumors I've heard though.

Mine pretty much fall into the same categories as others who have posted:

      1.) Day job
      2.) Facebook games
      3.) Chatting with friends

I should ditch the Facebook games now, but some of them are so addictive! Ah, but it would give me an extra hour or two a day to focus on other projects.

Must...stop...playing...The Sims Social (and Dragons of Atlantis and CastleVille)...

    Cooking.

    Cooking steals my time.

Apparently the great architect of my existence decided it was important - or it would be amusing - to force me to eat at least three times a day.

Me, in my infinite wisdom, moved to a town where there is practically no take away food at all.

Interesting so many people lists things that they do out of enjoyment and CHOOSE to do! If you choose to do those things and get enjoyment out of them, they didn't steal your time, you gave them your time in exchange for the benefit.

For me, what steals my time is OCD, useless ruminations and unproductive thoughts, interruptions from other people and waiting for them, etc. Things that I don't enjoy and don't get any benefit from, only sabatoge or pain.
