What is YOUR definition of rich?

To me, being rich is having enough money to provide for my basic needs, enough for me not to have to work a "regular" job and enough to be able to spend on travel and leisure comfortably.

Though I wouldn't mind being a millionaire, it wouldn't' take millions for me to do this.

My definition is: Freedom.
That's what most people are dreaming of, that's what it comes down to - being free to do what you, when you want, where you want and with whom you want.... and it usually starts with financial freedom, although it is the personal freedom/freedom of choice that will make us happy. Hope it makes sense.

I always liked the book title: “You Were Born Rich.”

Being able to get the bus one day a week instead of walking all the time

Being able to provide for my family, my wife and myself.

Having a bit to save afterwards, then anymore would be a bonus.

As someone said earlier, being able to pay all bills, and have the money to do everything you want. Although rich could be said to be past a particular point of yearly income, i believe that if a person truly has the money to do everything they want to do, then they can classify themselves as rich.

When I'm feeling unhappy about things sometimes I stop for a moment and think of all the amazing things I do have.

The ability to not have to wake up at 4 am to go to work to provide food and shelter to family.

I agree with most people above. Being RICH for me is being to live without any financial troubles and by providing myself and my family the daily needs. I'd rather have enough than have nothing at all.

I would say being rich is having enough money to cater for your needs even if you never work again for the rest of your life.
But! a Man can be rich and could still be unsuccessful in life, lack Joy, Peace, and true happiness.

Whereas when a Man is 'wealthy' - its the whole package; you're happy and mostly don't have any regrets. If they took you to another country, no matter the exchange rate there, you'd still be wealthy. lol

Safe to say, when you're wealthy you are rich, But one can be rich and not be wealthy.
It's that easy!

I think money is really helpful in regards to taking off your mind and energy worrying about daily expenses. This allows you to be more creative and go for other, bigger pictures things

For me Rich is in our heart. Im happy and thats what i m rich.

Rich people have a lot of money. Wealthy people have money and the skills to make money.

Aim to be wealthy rather than be rich

Couple interesting things.

Most commercials on tv and WSOs speak about have LOTS of money. LOTS and LOTS very fast BUT it seems most people are just seeking the freedom that comes from being able to pay your bills and have a little extra.

The other thing that is interesting to me is even when asked what THEIR definition is of wealth they quote other people, books, gurus etc. hmmmmm

I have not been able to come up with a better list than Napoleon Hill...

1. A positive mental attitude. Be aware of the fact that it heads the list.
2. Sound physical health.
3. Harmony in human relations.
4. Freedom from fear.
5. Hope for future achievements.
6. The capacity of applied faith.
7. Willingness to share ones blessings with others.
8. To be engaged in a labour of love.
9. An open mind on all subject towards all people.
10. Complete selfdiscipline.
11. Wisdom with which to understand people.
12. Financial security. Be aware of the fact that this is LAST on the list

Financial freedom to do whatever you want, a good family and a life that you created from hard work.

Doing whatever i want, whenever i want and don't care about money. It's that simple.

My idea of Rich also revolves around "Freedom" - To me "rich" is when the assets I own pay for my way of living, without my intervention! And as I increase my lifestyle and expenses, i simply grow my assets to take care of the bills....now thats true freedom!

I agree Joshua having money definitely makes those other areas much easier to maintain as you have more time to work on them.

I have MUCH more money than I did just a couple years ago and my problems are down to about zero.

Then again when I didn't have money I didn't look at things as problem but more as a potential opportunity.

Being rich to me is not ever having to worry about money.

For me, rich means being happy. And that's it. To feel rich everyday, even when your broke, is a gift!

My definition of 'rich':

Knowledge in things that really interest me and bring value to the world. No one can take that away from me. If i lose all of my money and 'toys' - i can always get them back by applying the knowledge i've gained throughout the years. That's a real fortune.

if you live in the house that you want, and you can afford to take a vacation anywhere you want...HOWEVER, you MUST also have a considerable amount of freedom to do what you want. If you have a lot of money, but are stuck at your job then its no good.

Also, you wouldn't be "rich" unless you had family and loves ones around you who you deeply cared about and vice versa.

My Thought of being Rich :
If you have financial freedom, and you can do whatever you want anytime.

You're rich once your passive income covers your living expenses.

Early in life I wanted to be a "millionaire"and have a big house and have a few fancy cars. The "reality" set in and I pushed those "dreams" away thinking it wouldn't be possible.

Then I picked myself up and dusted myself off and started looking in to what I really wanted. I still want the house although I've defined it more clearly, I still want the cars (I don't really want them I just want to see what a $200,000 vehicle feels like to drive) but I have pushed the "millionaire" status to the side.

I have found that I can do the things I want to do and have the things I want to have all without becoming a "millionaire".

All I need is money passively (or with little time involvement) coming in to pay my expenses and a little extra and I'm "Rich".

Now listen, I'm not just blowing air and dreaming. I am working towards that which I desire and results are happening. Whatever rich is for YOU, make the decision today to work towards it.

Also read the book :The 4 hour work week by tim ferris. It is definitely helping me achive my goals and gain a new perspective.

I would like to recommend you the book "Rich dad, Poor dad". In it the author Robert Kiyosaki said. "Being rich its when your passive income its greater than your living expenses". Also he says "You can be rich by cutting out your expenditures and incrementing your assets"

In the book that I'm actually reading (the richest man in babylon) it is said this one same principle on how to be rich.

I do think we couldn't consider rich mean to have millions of money.It is just a luxurious life we may spend. but the important thing for us is:health and happiness.if we hav these,we should be rich...

Rich, when it comes to money, I would say is having more then enough..
Rich in life? That is having a family that loves you, friends that care about you and having inner pace, whatever that means to you

I never buy books with the word RICH in them, even if they have good infomration it's emberassing to buy. Looking liek a hack. I consider rich to be a person who has enough money to have what they need and some of what they want.

To me being rich is having enough passive income to not only have your basic needs and leisure activities met, but enough passive income to reinvest into your community or other charitable forms of distribution.

I believe true wealth carries great responsibility with it.

(which is why its sad the ultra rich don't give back as much as they could)

I wonder if those who quotes others are more or less likely to become wealthy, rich or reach their goals than those who think more for themselves.

Rich - for me, it means that i can afford myself what i want and when i want. That i dont have to work and i can basicly do what i want. And i can help my family,so they wouldnt have to work(at least not that much)

Celebrities and professional athletes are generally considered rich.
The guys that write their checks are wealthy.

they think that rich=happy
which isnt really the case

I believe that being rich is more about how you feel on the inside then the numbers in your bank account.

Being Rich to me equals time freedom- being able to do what I want when I want, without worrying about having to punch a clock.

Great health - Being in good shape to enjoy the things I have.

Great family life- Having love ones who are in your corner during good times and bad.

Now, Don't get me wrong though I love having money in my bank account to do what I want to do whenever I want to do it.

There's no feeling like it. I'm not super rich but i am comfortable. I like to shop and I dont lkike to balance my bank account so money is definitely a prerequisent of being rich

To me, being rich is not just having lots of money but also having lots of experiences on life's journey

It is one thing to be rich. Rich being one can afford all the things he enjoys to limits that surpass most others although it can run dry in time. It's another thing entirely to be wealthy. Wealthy affords one to be careless for more time than one has to spend.

Like many here, rich to me is financial freedom, and on top of that for myself, is the freedom to pursue activities that fulfill my potentials, and a life in line with my values.

Healthy and happy and you have it all....You can buy things you wanted!!!!

For me, rich (financially speaking) is to be able to afford everything I need to lead a happy normal life. I would like to be able to follow my passions and to travel the world, without worrying about tomorrow. Of course, I would travel the world in a normal plane, not business class, and I wouldn't need any expensive yacht or 4 floors mansion, nor drinking wine which costs 4 figures.

I do not use the term rich. I use the term "economically independent" It means you do not need an employer to survive. That could mean you bring in $20K a year. Something like social security.

I just got back from a vacation in Fiji.

I had a conversation with a man there who worked part time at the resort.

I asked him, "Do you have a car?"

He chuckled and replied, "Oh, no sir. I have a wheelbarrow."

He expounded on that saying that he didn't need a car, in fact, he said he didn't really need a job either, and the only reason he was working was to save a little cash to visit relatives on a neighboring island.

Other than that, he said he didn't need any money to exist and be happy.

His village was surrounded by trees laden with tropical fruits, papaya, mangoes, jack fruits, avocados.

Local vegetables grew wild around his house offering fresh carbs and greens on a daily basis.

Coconut palms laden with varieties of coconuts dotted the landscape, and he fished every evening catching more fish than he could eat--so he shares it with the rest of the village.

Explaining all this, he said to me with a smile from ear to ear, "We Fijians are blessed with abundant food all around us, and people come from all over the world to visit my island paradise...I am truly a rich man."

The first definition of rich I Ever came across was one who does not have to write down a budget and still does not get broke or run out of cash.

Being in love with my work, my lover(s), having a safe, secure home, being free, being healthy, being alive.

Being rich is having the ability to buy all the luxury items you might desire, by
simply writing a check. And that buy decision will have no adverse effects
on your overall financial condition. Also, you won't have to agonize over that
buy decision.

My definition: Happiness, free of worry

Living comfortably with my loved ones. And being able to share something to those who are in need.

For me the definition of being rich is to have a big business and to have a lot of money..I was a supervisor of selling a product like roof pannel,parquet and säilytyslaatikko also known as storage box..But after that my the company got collapse and i did not get rich..sad but true
