Procrastination - a RED flag

I figured out why I use to procrastate so much. I use to expect myself to do something right the first time or have everything go my way. Totally unrealistic.

Stop being so hard on yourself. Things arn't going to be perfect. Accept it.

Think of it more like a game. You don't play perfect the first time. You learn from mistakes.

Yes but I still want to get it perfect the first time! It's a vicious circle.

Most procrastination is a form of fear. a person begins to think of all the bad (painful) things that are involved with doing a certain thing.

I like to change this habit of procrastination by running through my mind all the bad (painful) things that would happen if I failed to take action.

Fear/Pain is a strong motivator whether you admit it or not. Its not bad to have fear! Just make sure you fear the right things and you can completely annihilate procrastination and other self-limiting behaviors !

Very true. The best way to conquer procrastination in my opinion is just to do it. When I realize I'm doing something that's taking me further away from my business goals, I think of Nike's slogan: "Just do it."

We all know what tasks take us closer to success, and which ones lead us astray. Kill those bad habits. The more you kill 'em, the less they'll come back.

Has anybody here read Og Mandino "the greatest salesman in the world"

There's a whole section dedicated to procrastination.

“I will act now. I will act now. I will act now. Henceforth, I will repeat these words each hour, each day, everyday, until the words become as much a habit as my breathing, and the action which follows becomes as instinctive as the blinking of my eyelids. With these words I can condition my mind to perform every action necessary for my success. I will act now. I will repeat these words again and again and again. I will walk where failures fear to walk. I will work when failures seek rest. I will act now for now is all I have. Tomorrow is the day reserved for the labor of the lazy. I am not lazy. Tomorrow is the day when the failure will succeed. I am not a failure. I will act now. Success will not wait. If I delay, success will become wed to another and lost to me forever. This is the time. This is the place. I am the person.”

      thats pretty awesome.

I also like the Napoleon Hill idea before you go to bed and when you wake up, have a goal that you say to yourself everyday.

Even if you do something wrong... it is better than not doing anything at all. You will learn from the experience and hopefully, do better next time! Remember, even the most brilliant of mankind has had failures.

Once I accepted that mistakes were a part of learning and that not everything you did would succeed I was able to accomplish a lot more in life. Perseverance is the name of the game!
