I've just started working in an environment where everyone else is a non IM.

I just feel weird because internet marketing is often being look down upon (though the business is heavily online based) at and whenever there's some new discussion that I am excited to talk about, it's often scoffed at.

Is it me or that environment and attitude towards it will really discourage me in the long run?

It really doesnt matter about anyone else. You must have all the confidence in yourself and what your doing and people will buy that product. Thats the one that sells the best. Just hold your head up high and have confidence... they will listen to whatever you say.

    Good luck

Never be discouraged instead take it as a challenge. Maybe they're just testing you so don't pull yourself down. Be strong and do your thing.

I think most people just 'don't get it', they think if you're making money but not selling anything physical or tangible then there must be something dodgy going on. Use their attitude to spur you on and ultimately prove them wrong!

I think it's because alot of IM people are scammers and produce bad work. If you do good work then it will always show, dont be afraid of people's opinion. Put your work forward and let it speak for itself.

When you're going into a non-IM environment, don't try to be an IM person (even if that is clearly your role). Instead, be an entrepreneur and business owner. Rather than talking about that new IM concept from an "insiders" perspective....talk about it in terms of ROI, or how it will solve problem X. The more you can relate the concept to their business and how it will benefit them, the more receptive they will be.

I agree with rbarnhart1. Be professional and speak in a lingo they are familiar with. I believe that when you are talking about a subject to people who are not familiar with that subject, they will lose interest most likely because they don't want to seem like they don't know what you are talking about or they heard something bad about it from their trusting resource(s).

As Tim Ferriss says "It doesn’t matter how many people don’t get it. What matters is how many people do."

Most people will generalize and stereotype about others. Whether it is an internet martketer or about sales people. Once they meet that person and get know them, then it is a whole different story.
