Affirmation with a date or without and why?

Hi ALL

I have already posed a question about the GOAL CARD but im still just as confused, and hope by wording my query in this way will enable some answers that i can really understand.

My understanding is that a goal should be written out as an affirmations. So far i get that and then that is what were implanting into the subconsious mind

Napolean hill, earl nightingale and bob proctor all then suggest writing the affirmation of the goal onto a card with an END DATE. As far as i understand it, a date of when we believe the goal will be reached, or when we expect to have attained that goal in a realistic time.

They then say to read this goal all day long, because what we think about we become.

To me this means they want me to read the affirmation during the day.

My understanding of affirmations is that it needs to by-pass the conscious filter, therefore best done during an alpha state / a relaxed state.

Some books say you can say affirmations during the day with emotion and feeling and this does the same thing.

So i guess if that is true then saying the goal affirmation on the card with feeling perhaps will do this.

HOWEVER...what about the date we have placed as part of the affirmation? Some have said that we shouldnt have a date as that tells the subconscious we want the goal then rather than say it is now, in the present tense and thus for it to go work on it.

Also if the correct way is with a date, then shouldnt we also use dates with all affirmations and impress/imbed/reprogram into our subconsious minds during our relaxed/meditation states?

I am very confused, as i dont want to counter my hard work and effort of reaching my goal, by adding a date to it or not reach it by not adding a date or wasting time saying it during the day rather than simply saying it during a relaxed state

hope this all made sense

please advise thank you

    Hi!

I'll give you my opinion on all of this and how I personally go about doing things myself, and maybe this will help you on your own journey.

I believe goals and affirmations are separate, and I use them separately. You may find the next part a bit contrary to what's mostly taught, but I don't write down ANY goals I have in any way that others instruct.

In my opinion, following others systems and trying to "force" yourself into something almost feels like more 'work' and rather than me seeing it as a tool I feel it is more of a chore.

I don't write my goals like most people, but I do have goals in MIND. Really though, instead of using goals to align my workflow, I use a PURPOSE.

I have things in my life I want to change. My goals are not something such as "I will have an income making $100 / day by such and such date" because that has no desirable substance to it.

Goals should be purpose aligned, because a purpose is an inner desire. Money really isn't much to desire, but rather the means it can help you acquire. My "purpose" when first starting out was simply to make enough so that my wife could quit her job.

I knew already how much money that would be every year so there was no need to write anything down.

The next step was to find the WAY of actually achieving that purpose/goal, and so forth.

When it comes to affirmations, they keep you on track towards what purpose you seek to obtain. I don't think writing down a date automatically makes you better at achieving anything.

The only thing I can think writing a date down is meant to help is procrastinating. If you know what you need to achieve, and you find the WAY of achieving it (internet marketing, creating and launching products, offering a service, or any other form of business), then all you need to do is simply WORK towards that purpose.

Now if you DO tend to procrastinate and can't get things going into gear, affirmations help with that. Really though, the only thing that beats procrastination is self discipline, starting with acknowledging that you procrastinate, followed by asking yourself WHY you are procrastinating, and lastly asking yourself what can you do to finally OVERCOME procrastinating (fix the source) rather than simply affirm you will achieve your goal (patch things up).

Sometimes you may find that the reason you procrastinate is because your DESIRE isn't adequate (sometimes a fatal mistake of misplanned GOALS). Purposes work better towards cultivating desire than simple "goals" do.

They are closely related in the sense of providing direction, but one is advancement towards a higher good/reaching your full potential, while the other is a simple place you want to be at. I think goals are more RESULTS of intended purposes.

Affirmations are spiritual tools that help you keep your spirits up while working towards a purpose. They work on a subconscious level to help give strength and guidance towards fixing the SOURCES of your problems that are keeping you from achieving your intended purposes.

Ok, I've rambled enough, so here's my advice.

Make sure you really understand the PURPOSE behind your actions. Meditate on your life and your intended purpose of what and how you want to achieve. If money is your goal you won't get very far... simply allow money and goals to be results of your purpose for achievement.

When you meditate, ask yourself what is holding you back. We all have shortcomings we CONSTANTLY should work on. Even those who are well on the path of achievement and are seeing great results. They STILL work on issues within themselves.

So figure that out, and when you have an answer as to what problems you can solve, ask yourself what can help fix that. What steps can you take, what actions can you perform, what affirmations will assist your strength carrying out the recommended actions.

Then once you understand what you must do, create positive and inspiring affirmations that help you apply this insight and allow your self discipline to work along with your affirmations.

Always keep your purpose in mind, and make every day a positive advancement towards that, doing the best you can each day and as much as you can each day.

Writing dates is a personal preference, and is not required for ANYTHING. I don't write dates down because they give me too much sense of pressure, and that is just another form of STRESS. I have a purpose, a path, I use self discipline, and affirm my positive ability to achieve my purpose.

So far this has not failed me and I am stress free, peaceful, and truly happy.

    I hope this helps you!

    -Chris

Oh and I failed to mention that by having a true purpose that you've cultivated, one that will become a deep inner desire, the feelings and emotions towards your affirmations and purpose are MUCH more energized.

Any affirmation towards an empty goal will not have feeling. If you try to "fake" the emotion, you're doing more harm than good because your subconscious KNOWS you're faking it and feels like you dont believe in what you're doing.

A purpose is something you feel like you MUST achieve. It becomes much more than a goal and is much more impressionable towards your subconscious. So be careful of what you seek and make sure you truly desire and believe in it so that you feelings and emotions towards it are real.

When impressing ideas and actions into your subconscious I don't see why you should dwell on dates maybe specific time frames

It depends, I see a difference between affirmations and goals, for goals then yes, affix a date for completion but affirmations then I think no there's no particular need for them to be 'date sensitive'.
