Have you had NLP to rewire your brain?

Hi Guys

Has anybody here ever had hypnotherapy / NLP to help rewire their thought patterns. I sometimes suffer from procrastination, or just not having the energy to do something? I have read many things on NLP, but I think I would be better off having a private session. I'm sure it must work, but does it make a permanent change, or just work temporarily?

Cheers
Phil

    Hi Phil

Learned NLP from it's founder so that tells you a little about how old I am.

You may find hypnotherapy and NLP to overlap in some regards but both will serve you well provided you work with an experienced practitioner.

In either case, I recommend you do your sessions in a face-to-face setting.

Also, check to be sure your practitioner is recognized by an organization of their peers.

By the way, (procrastination) is as good as any situation to start with since you will be able to gage whether or not your session(s) are producing results for you.

Both hypnotherapy and NLP are a service that you pay for, so be clear with your practitioner regarding your expectations for a worthwhile result.

If you're only after spirituality, then putting a price on that is unreasonable, wouldn't you think? Plus, measuring the results may take decades or even life times.

    Hey Phil,

I've not had private sessions but I have studied NLP and
it has definitely had a big improvement on my life.

I also think it is a little bit over rated as the 'super fix'

Richard Bandler, the co creator is over weight. If the creator
can't change how he thinks about his eating habits that has to say something.

    Also there's a massive teacher/speaker Christopher Howard
who has been holding massive events in London for many years.

He is now in re-hab for drinking!

I think YOU are in charge of your destiny and the more
you look for external sources, the longer it will take you
to get where you want to be.

I think it's better to re-wire yourself. I love NLP for establishing rapport and I use it all the time. But if you want to do reprogramming, you are the person you listen to the most, so your voice is the most powerful ally you can have. I have a free self esteem builder site that uses techniques to rebuild egos, but the methods I outline can be used to do personal transformation. Basically it's recording your own voice saying positive affirmations and goals and future statements. If you listen to yourself saying "I take action quickly and effectively to achieve my goals" once or twice a day for a few weeks (recording only like 10 minutes worth of thoughts) it really impacts you. PM me if you'd like the link. I'm not trying to make any sale here. just offering.

    Hey Guys

Thanks for all your replies. ha, I love the one about the practioner being in rehab! It reminds me of some people who become financial advisors, but they are broke themselves which is why they are trying to make money as an advisor.

I think it is a good point also about YOU having to be the one to make the change, rather than using it as a quick fix. I guess NLP can help you though, certainly with the afirmations.

    Cheers

I actually have done some SEO and website design work for people in this area. They have issues like anyone else, but they also are able to identify and deal with issues (theirs and yours). I have picked up some good tips about using NLP and just like you might expect...you have to use it and be aware of it on a daily basis. That is why they say "practice".

    Hi Phil

I'm also an NLP practitoner. I think it's great to get some help with stuff and the thing I love most about NLP is that is completely natural.

The only problem with it is that sessions can get quite expensive and because you have to keep it in your mind every day, often just face-to-face isn't always practical. For sure see a practitoner but there are NLP-related products available which are also reliable and can be used any time in the home.

Actually, I recently wrote an article on the very subject of procrastination recently, if you would care to take a look at it. It gives some background info and there is a recommendation in there.

Good luck. Here's the link: Help With Procrastination

    Hello!

I practiced some techniques for some time and some insights are priceless and stay with you forever.

That being said, at least in my experience nothing compares even by a bit with 'zen' training, I recommend 'complete idiot's guide to zen living" it's just breathtaking if you focus on 'beating' procastination.

    Godspeed.
