What Three Books Are You Reading Right Now?

Hey Warriors,

Simple idea for a thread - What Three Books Are You Reading Right Now?

Right now, my rotation books are:
  • The Paleo Solution by Robb Wolf
  • Hagakure: The Way Of The Samurai by Yamamoto Tsunetomo
  • The Six Thinking Hats by Edward De Bono

I just finished Robert Greene's 33 Strategies of War too. Big book, but highly recommended.

What books are you reading? Discuss!

I am reading the Hunger Games books...not very inspiring or motivating as per the theme in this sub-forum but hey, that's what I'm reading!

FYI, the Hunger Games movie is coming out

Haha man I hear about these all the time. It seems to have the obsessive fandom of Twilight, but without the trash*.

Did you ever get into Matt Reilly books?

*If you like Twilight, that's cool. Just don't ever talk about it with me.

        Nope, haven't seen those.

The hunger games books were pretty good. Not the best I've read but certainly entertaining and a very easy read.

I hate being lumped into the same type of people as Twilight fans though haha!!!!

Check out Matt's books, they read like an action film but without the sh*tty one liners.

I couldn't agree more. The shack was a very deep, insightful book that left pondering in self-reflection for days. It's on my shelf of books that I tend to re-read.

If you want books that are beyond inspiring, read anything by David Gemmell (fantasy writer).

      I'm re-reading

      Legend
      Legend of Deathwalker
The Swords of Night and Day

His heroes always have incredible insights into life/etc.

      ie,

...Stavut suddenly laughed. "You really still think we are going to win?"
Druss looked at him. "Winning isn't everything, Stavut. Men like to think it is. Sometimes it is more important to stand against evil than to worry about beating it.

When I was a young man, serving with Gorben's Immortals, we took a city. The ruler there was a vile man. I heard a story there. His soldiers had rounded up a group of Source priests, and they decided to burn them all.

One citizen stepped out from the crowd and spoke against the deed. He told them that what they were doing was evil, and that they should be ashamed of themselves."

"And did he save the priests?"

"No. And they killed him, too. But that's what I am saying, laddie. I remembered that man's deed, and it inspired me. Others who saw it would have been inspired.

Evil will always have the worst weapons. Evil will gather the greatest armies. They will burn and plunder and kill. But that's not the worst of it.
They will try to make us believe that the only way to destroy them is by becoming *like* them. That is the true vileness of evil. It is contagious.
That one man reminded me of that, and helped me keep the code."

Stavut inserted the needle into the split flesh above Druss's eye and carefully sealed the cut. "You believe that you can defeat evil with an ax? Is that not a contradiction in terms?"

"Of course it is, laddie. That's always the danger. However, in this instance I am merely standing my ground. Do I think we can win today? I think we have already won. I have seen it in the eyes of the Guard. Will we die? Probably."

three books. hmm. I am reading "the film maker's handbook, a comprehensive guide to the digital age" I just got done with "does the noise in my head bother you" which is a Steven Tyler autobiography, and "A Sea Island Yankee" which was an autobiography of a guy who moved from pennsylvania to James Island SC in the early 1900's.

I just moved to James Island from PA, so I am looking at local history as I write for a Charleston paper occasionally.

the film stuff is because I do some acting, plus I'm starting my second screenplay. It gives me some perspective to how a film maker/producer might view my writing.. A lot of my reading is about research for writing projects.

You say you re-read it. Is this because you get more out of each time, or because you find that by re-reading it you have a better understanding of it?
