7 Things That Will Kill Your Motivation Fast

I stop by to drop this message that has helped me for you.

Here are the 7 things listed:

  • No Goal: when I hear people complain for not being motivated to do anything. I noticed that majority of them it's because they don't have any goals that excite them enough to do anything.

  • Negative People: one comment of discouragement is often enough to kill any motivation you may have. You are advice to avoid people who constantly make negative comments directed towards you. If you want to maintain your motivation.

  • Low Energy: your motivation will suffer greatly when you barely have enough energy to move around and do stuff. Being fit plays a big role in your motivation. A good diet and exercise regimen will help with that.

  • Negative News: bad news sells. If you focus too much on the bad things that are happening in this world, that may suck the motivation right out of you. No matter how good things are, the media will always have something bad to report. Try to focus on what's good instead.

  • Lack Of Belief In Yourself: you could be inspire and motivated by a book or a movie you see. But if you don't believe you can pull something off, you will eventually stop. You must truly believe you can achieve your goals, unless, you will soon start doubting yourself and when that happen, and then kiss your motivation goodbye.

  • Distraction: distraction can come from anywhere. It tends to throw our focus off course. If you stay off course for too long, your motivation will deteriorate.

  • Not Taking Action: when you don't take action towards your goal, your motivation will die off fast. Once you have a goal you must take action immediately, no matter the day it falls on.

    Great list.

Negative people and lack of belief are the ones I have to deal with most.

Negative people are like a wet blanket.

One thing I've learned is people tend to take on the personality and religious beliefs of their friends so people should be careful who they befriend. They really can impact your beliefs and possibly energy as well.

It's not taking action that most people don't have, not the wisdom or anything. You've gotta get ready, fire and then aim some, if not most times.

    This is a wonderful list.

I would put "low energy" on top of this list. Because many "tips" on motivation put emphasis on having optimal energy level. That means more energy = more motivation.

I think one of the biggest ones (that I still struggle with), is not having a BIG enough "WHY"! Here's a simple example someone told me once.

Do you think you could make a million dollars in a month? most people would say no. Now imagine that someone has taken your son/daughter/loved one hostage, and says he will chop off their body parts and mail it back to you if you don't give him a million dollars in a month.

Do you think now you'll try really hard and may even come up with the million dollars? How come you will do it now? The only difference is that your WHY became really really big!

So if you haven't found a BIG WHY yet, I urge you to spend sometime thinking about what is your BIG WHY, and making it so clear in your mind, that everyday you can't help but wake up and be motivated! =)

    # 4 and 5 I can relate with. Especially the news.

I rarely watch it and very rarely get a newspaper. They all have the same stuff that is enough to depress anyone. Unless you go by my old doctors advice and actually read what's going on as it is supposed to make you feel better that there's always someone worse off than you. That doesn't make me feel any better.

Lack of belief is one that I'm still struggling with. I know what I want to do. Got my goals and things but putting things into action and making the move to speak to a potential client is something I'm still having problems with.

At least I know where to work on. That's why I found this thread here interesting this morning.

Exactly what I need first thing. A bit of help getting motivated.

    Cheers for the post.
    Robbie

I agree with all 7 of those point sin the post, however, motivation in itself can be a fleeting thing, we all start motivated in the New Year with our resolutions, but how many of us actually go through and achieve our goal then?

I think personally, that you need a compelling reason, something that makes you get off your rusty dusty and work. As without that, you are set fail in my opinion.

    What do other warriors think?

The distraction and no goal are the biggies for me. I didn't consider a couple others though, and realize they apply to me. So thank you.

Distraction - my greatest enemy of all time. How do you work online and not get distracted? Just curios because its really hard for my to focus with all those funny picture, youtube videos, new, stories, games and porn running around...

Lack of belief in yourself is one of the best point for concerning. If we are going to do a tough job and don't have belief to get success in that then we can never get.

I like the list you have on here Unfortunately, I experienced negative news with myself when I found out that I erased all of my files from my domain name that my friend and I had been working on from trying to make a new FTP account...it seriously killed my motivation, but I currently have a back-up running from 4 days ago, so not all hope was lost, and I made additional improvements on the website anyway

And back onto the topic again Distraction is seriously an energy-sucking activity. From what I learn in my HR classes is that we should try to implement an urgency/importance table to make sure we're not spending too much time in the not urgent/not important category I myself haven't used it...but my website is really driving my motivation, so once there's a passion in something important and urgent, it's all good!

You hit the nail on the head. To fully succeed online, the person also need laser focus since distractions are everywhere. So many ways to make money and so many ways to fail.

The list is pretty much common sense really. Alas, while it's good for me to read it, I can't say it's easy applying it.

I like to make a special mention to negative people. Granted, the people in my workplace are the complete opposite of that and I thank God for them.

It's the people I meet outside of work that I have a problem with. It's hard to avoid such people when your own family happily associates with them.

What do you do in that case?

I really think I have lack of this.

"Lack Of Belief In Yourself: you could be inspire and motivated by a book or a movie you see. But if you don’t believe you can pull something off, you will eventually stop. You must truly believe you can achieve your goals, unless, you will soon start doubting yourself and when that happen, and then kiss your motivation goodbye."

I will try to force my self to be motivate in 2012.

Lack of clarity is mine. If I can't see the entire picture, nothing happens. If I can see the entire picture, I'm good to go. The hard part is getting the entire picture in mind.

Mindset is the big one I see.

    " I want to ......... but"
" I'm on board just don't ask me to be a part of it"
    " I would like to ........ I can't do that" Have you tried? " no I just know I can't"
" I will do absolutely anything to learn how to ......... oh, that certainly seems like a lot of work"

I've said it a thousand times - If you believe you can't, you are going to be 100% right every time.
