Single Line, Quote Or Advice That Changed Your Life

For me it was a quote from Brian Tracy's book "Million Dollar Habits", which is a great read by the way.

The line I love so much is "If you do the same things that successful people do, you will eventually get the same results. If you don't, you won't".

This hit me like a ton of bricks. Since then I have always tried to emulate a successful person in whatever field I was trying to master.

The only way to get really good at something is to find out how someone else has achieved it, and then do what they did. I truly believe that if someone shows you how to do something, and you work hard enough, you can achieve anything you set your mind to!

One of my favourite adversity quotes is this by Jim Ron: "Don't wish that things were easier, wish you were better".

Though it's not always easy, I've found that following this piece of advice have always been the best way to go about life, particularly when dealing with things beyond our control.

One more that I had to share:

"Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try Again. Fail again. Fail better."

This one is probably my favorite quote:

    AGREE.

    It's called modeling.

Others also suggest to model the successful person's beliefs/global paradigms. You can determine this by asking: "What do you believe that contribute primarily to your success?"

"F*** the stroke." A little background. My sister-in-law had a massive stroke when she was 28. She lost the left side of her body and has been enduring intense therapy for the last two years.

Her ability to persevere has amazed me. I've never heard her complain or be sad. Any new challenge is met with the determination to beat her stroke. I think that this fierce determination be applied to anything that life throws your way - especially to things that are more easily conquered, losing a job, going through a divorce, or struggling to make more money ('cause who isn't).

The quote that most changed my life, slapped me in the face and blew my mind:
"The only reason you don't have everything you want in your life right now is because you are resisting it" Bob Doyle

That has literally taken me 2+ years to come to terms with.

Advice that change my life is as follows.

Do not believe in "mental illness". It is a silly idea. The two words on their own demonstrate the silliness of the idea. The mind cannot be sick. Only bodies and biological tissues can be sick or diseased. The brain can be diseased, but the mind, since it is intangible cannot literally be sick, ill, or diseased.

This has quite a few implications, but they are probably best not discussed here.

Not sure where I first heard this one, but it has kind of guided me over the years and helped me set BIG goals that sometimes led to reasonable achievement I was happy with.

Love this thread.. When I was broke and didn't have 2 pennies to rub together a few years back, there was definitely one quote that changed my life and put me on the path to the success..

"You don't get in life what you want, you get in life what you are."

Everybody wants a better life, most people never want to work for it. That quote made me realize the only way to get to the top was to become a person worthy of the top.. and I've never looked back since then.

  • "TAKE ACTION...EVEN IF IT IS NOT PERFECT"

I've struggled with being a perfectionist for my entire life and it has prevented me from achieving things quicker. The key is to do your best and put yourself out there and get things done. Over time with consistency things will happen. Others usually don't care about your minor errors and flubs...many times they appreciate how real you are.
