Do you have the GUTS TO FAIL?

Hi Warriors,

Do we need to have something to fall back on?
If plan A does not work, do you go to plan B or stick with plan A?

Denzel Washington, internationally renowned actor and director, delivered the address at the University of Pennsylvania's 255th Commencement on Monday, May 16. Washington is one of the nation's preeminent performing artists, having achieved wide acclaim for his film, theatrical and television performances, as well as his accomplishments in film directing and television production. Washington has received the most distinguished accolades of his art, including two Academy Awards and a Tony Award. At Commencement, Washington received an honorary doctor of arts degree.

Please take time to listen to his speech. It is very inspiring.

I personally don't set plan Bs, when I fail at plan A, it's just that it wasn't good enough, so I slightly modify it. I never like changing my whole plan over.

I think we shouldn't be too rigid with our plans but also we shouldn't always change plans at all the little adversity that comes up.

Thanks for the video, I watched it some days ago, truly inspiring!

Its usually better to think far and wide, planning (some would call it scheming) 5 steps ahead in the process. It's called Preparation. U almost always win..lol

Think of it like a game of chess. The player with the most accurate projections and plans-device wins the game.

I do not have the guts to fail, because I won't accept failure.

You know, I always say I'm "afraid of failure," but I'm not. I fail all the time. I think what I'm really afraid of is that I won't fail, because I won't do anything. It does take guts to fail.

I love Denzel, one of my favorite actors.

I don't have the guts to try because I know what it feels like out of my "comfort zone" and I hate it one bit. I have to be in control. But at least I can acknowledge it lol.

If you look at some of the most amazing inventions and the number of times individuals failed before their success, it is quite inspiring. The only true failure is the one you don't learn from.

Exactly, I think it's Edison that said the only reason I succeeded in developing the light bulb and numerous other great inventions was that he was welcoming failure like an ally.

He failed over 1000 times before he finally built a working light bulb.
Can you imagine what your life would be like if he said to himself "haa screw it, it doesn't work"?
    I can't...

Sincerely speaking, I am afraid of failure and it makes me afraid of trying out new things.

Failure is not considered failure at all if you are really decided on what you really want and want to become. Failure, allows us to fully realize our maximum potential. We better realize our capabilities when pushed to the limits. Do not be afraid of failure. Failure allows us to learn and be successful in the long run.

I read in a truely inspiring book (No Ordinary Moment by Dan Millman) that the only way to overcome fear is to get friendly with it.

What he means is that the whole idea of failure isn't actually failing completely. It's always just a temporary defeat and that failures are actually VERY valuable, they teach you what doesn't work.

He suggests that we accept that failing is part of ANY learning curve (think about how many times you failed learning how to walk) and that they are the stepping stones on which you will climb to success.

He always sais "Remember the bigger picture" in all fields of life, this is how you will stop fearing failure but actually want to fail, when you will stop complaining but actually get creative in ruff moments...etc.

My question is "do you have the guts to succed?" Can be twice as hard than to fail.
