How To Be Happy & Abundant Right Now - New Years Gift

Be happy now. Tomorrow never comes.

The only true point of power in the Universe is the present. And as humans we spend so much of our time and energies (mental, emotional, physical & spiritual) on thinking about the past or dreaming about the future and in doing so we are always striving and seeking happiness.

Well let me tell you something. You can be happy right here, right now.

And guess what? it doesn't cost you any money. You don't have to be an Internet Marketing guru that makes millions of dollars every year. You don't need anything. Below ill get you to do a short exercise which you can do that will make you happy in a few seconds. But first some information.

As humans I think it is in our nature or our DNA to always strive to achieve something. There is nothing wrong with that at all. Thats how we as a race and a civilization progress and evolve. That is how we evolve everything from our own micro worlds to our entire planet. The problem starts when our brain tricks us into thinking that we can not be happy until we achieve those things. There is actually no connection between the two. Nothing, zip, nada!

Telling ourselves things like: "Ill be happy when I get that car" or "ill be able to relax and be content when my kids move out", "Ill be so much more confident and happier when I lose weight and make more money" or "I need to finish this project and then I can relax and be happy".

There is a famous quote that I keep in my wallet and have done so for over two years now:

"Remember that happiness is a way of travel, not a destination" Roy Goodman

What the quote is trying to say is that, we need not have the goal met to be 'happy one day'. We just need to be happy. We just need to shut the hell up for a moment and smile and be happy. We need to travel through life being happy and not blindly and stupidly believing that once we achieve our goals we will be happy, because we wont. It never happens. Happiness is a choice. Remember that.

Ill repeat it because it is a very important statement. Happiness is a choice. Just like negativity is. There is always something we can be upset about in the world. I hate my job, the dishes arn't done, we don't make enough sales, there is a war in the middle east, fuel has gone up, I got bills to pay, yada yada yada....

On the flip side of that there is always something we can be happy about. Even if you live in absolute poverty there is always something to smile about. Always! And dont think this is some new-age mumbo jumbo because its not.

Do not confuse what I am saying as what is called a "Non-dualistic belief". Im an not promoting this. A non-dualistic belief is a belief that there is no good and bad and that there is no right or wrong and that everything is working out just fine, just as the Universe had planned and so that we should sit back and be as happy as Hindu cows. That is not what I am saying.

I am saying YES we need to achieve things, YES we need to grow as individuals and as a civilization, YES we need to learn and YES we need to work for those things and sometimes even fight for those things.

The importance is that we are happy and we understand that we can be happy when trying to make those things happen. We dont need to constantly hit the bar we set ourselves as goals, then be happy for a day and then go back and create another goal, be unhappy for 3 weeks until we achieve the new goal and then try find some contentment again...

...I am saying that happiness is a choice (that's the third time). So make the choice. Choose to be happy.

Now for a short excercise that will relieve stress, tension and make you that little bit happier. We will start of by becoming relaxed and then we will do a mental excercise to wash those depressive ugly feelings away and replace them with feelings of happiness and contentment... just like a Hindu cow

Find a quiet place for one moment. If you are in a loud busy area, print this out and step outside or take your laptop with you. If you can not do neither, shut the door or come back to this later. You'll figure it out...

Ok,

Sit down in a comfortable position,

Make sure you are warm and secure,

Let your shoulders drop,

Let all of the muscles in your body relax and become limp.

Be quiet. Silent. Listen to whatever is happening around you.

If it is quiet, listen to that little humming noise, its like a tone or vibration. Focus on it. If you do not hear it that is perfectly fine... just listen...

Ill ask you to take a breathe, hold and release it. Ready?

Take a deep breathe in, slowly and deeply.. go on, do it right now - one slow deep breathe...

3, 2, 1 and... slowly... release...

And again,

Nice slow, deep breathe in,

3,2,1 and... slowly... release...

One more time,

Nice slow, deep breathe in,

3,2,1 and... slowly... release...

How does it feel? Feels good right. You can take a moment now to just sit for a few seconds.

There is something you can be happy about. You are now relaxed via the simple air or oxygen that is filling your lungs and driving the precious chemicals and oxygen to your brain and vital organs so that you can live, so that you can open and shut your eyes, see, feel and experience the vivid world around you.

That is abundance. There is nothing more abundant than the chemicals, gases and minerals in our universe!

Think about that for a moment. How beautifully abundant that is. Tiny molecules of oxygen and nitrogen filling you up and allowing you to live! Oxygen is everywhere. Its inside, outside, its in the city, in the desert, its in the gym, in your office... It is everywhere!

All around you there is something to be happy about. Look around you. What do you see? Maybe you see a computer or a laptop. Is that not abundance, isn't abundance what you are seeking? Maybe you can see outside, is it dark or light? Look at the trees or the stars or the movement between people and cars. That is abundance. Look at the clouds, watch the wind. The light particles that have traveled from the sun. Think about the light that the Sun produces and bombards the Earth with, think about how it feeds our plants and how important sunlight is. All of this is abundance!

Think about water. How nourishing it is. How cool and velvety it is. Did you know that water makes up about 70% of the Earth and also our own bodies? Did you know that you cant survive for more than 3 days without water? And yet its everywhere!, Turn the tap on and it pours out! Stand under it in the shower and it covers your body for as long as you want, dripping wet, refreshing, cooling water! Think about how abundant it is! Realize the life that you have all around you, surrounding you, enveloping you. The air, the water, the light, and the earth that feeds and houses you.

What about those material things? Do you have somewhere to put your head down at night? You must sleep somewhere right? A warm house, maybe its an apartment, maybe a tent. Hell just the fact that you get to close your eyes and let your body rest and replenish itself while you get swept off into a fantasy dream world should be an amazing thought to you! An abundant and prosperous thought in fact!

How do you travel? do you have a car, a bike or do you get a big bulky powerful train, tram or bus around? That is abundance right there. Being able to travel and explore the world around you. The deserts, the oceans, the jungles, the cities and the places of marvel and mystery.

Your family, your friends. The people in your life... think about them. They love and care for you. Even if you may be having some negative feelings towards one or two of them at the moment. What about the rest? They surround you and protect you, they help and assist you. These people in your life are your abundance!

Listen to the birds chirping, the sounds of water falling or the wind blowing. cars beeping and moving. Clanking and clonking of the city. The laughter of children and the giggles of babies. The panting of a big fat happy dog! And just when you thought it couldn't get any better... think about music! Or better yet turn some on right now. Beautiful music...

How can you be happy with anything if you can not be content with the seemingly nothingness of stillness and simple breathe?

The next time you feel depressed, sad or alone. Take a deep breathe, relax and realize that the breathe you just took is the most abundant thing in the Universe. Because it gives you life.

The Universe, which you are a part of, is one BIG abundant place.

    Be happy, life is what you make it. Being happy is a choice not even a goal. Being happy is actually what we all want to be, after all the effort, after all the work. The nice feeling of being happy contributes to our attitude in accomplishing more in life.

      Too right! And thats the point. We dont want to have to give up our goals, monetary or otherwise. But I guess one of the points of my thread was this: for some reason we link being happy with - Achievement, results and winning.

      Its as if our brains have taken over our mind and our being and have controlled us to the point where we constantly seek to evolve, learn, grow and achieve and not be 'happy' until that is done... the reality is that its never done. Happiness is a choice.

    Achieving and maintaining Happiness is definitely an outlook and
    a mind game. You have to approach life with a positive perspective
    and be diligent in maintaining the correct psychological frame of mind.
