Your thoughts on making one year plans?

Hey guys what are your thoughts on making one year plans? I never did this but on the beginning of this year i said to myself i should give it a try and see how it goes. I made a One year plan of what i should do by the end of the year and broke it to monthly plans. I know that things doesn't allways workout how you think that is going to be, but let's see. What do you think about this?

SXI, I think that's a good idea. I have still to make mine but I will do so. Most importantly is come back to it every so often throughout the year. I would also encourage you to not just "give it a try and see how it goes" or have a "let's see" attitude. That doesn't sound like believing that it'll come to pass. But it's better than not having any goals I guess.

Whether you call it the Law of Attraction or faith or whatever, I think if you make your plan and goals, you need to approach it with faith. It'll work better that way

Better to think in 5 year plans, 10 year and 15 year plans like the chinese do. Knowing where you are going to means you can get there!

IMO it's essential to do this in order to work out your tasks for TODAY. Because, once you have a one year goal, then you can break it down into quarterly goals, then monthly, then weekly, and then finally what's needed to be done TODAY. Also, a one year plan will help to keep you motivated through the inevitable highs and lows. Definitely worth more than a try.

I agree that is what you to today that makes the major difference between success and failure. There are plenty of successful people who don't goal set at all and its because the take action every single day.

I like the idea of one year goals though. The new year might be an arbitary date to choose to set goals but there is something cool about having a whole new fresh year ahead of you of like a blank canvas.

I agree completely with you guys, but still i think that 5 or 10 year plan is to far away and too much things can happen and your plans can change in one day, but like you say more attitude is definitely what i will put in my plan.

    Cheers.

Everyone has good points. I do make a one year plan, but in it is broken down to smaller goals/plans. Take steps to your final plan BUT like ProScribe mentioned above me, "take action every single day. I also make long term goals/plans and adjust as needed. But it's the one year and shorter plans that will take me to my long term plans. My main focus is short term plans.

In my case, I start making yearly targets (eg. earn $100,000 or house or car) then from there I build my yearly plans broken down on a monthly basis. Just in case I failed to implement one of my plan, I am obliged to come up with a new one in order to reach my yearly targets.

Thanks for starting this thread. It reminds me to make my yearly targets.

Yes, we need to be holistic. It's important to have 1 year, 5 years, but also daily and weekly goals and plans.

In addition, I think it's also important to combine that with meditation because that works on the inside of us, which I think is the most important and effective area of self-improvement and self-development.

It's a good idea to make such plans like that. But don't just stick to only a year of planning. Try to project what you will be after 5 to 10 years for long-term planning.

I think it is a good idea to specify your plan. It can motivate you because you know what to do exactly. It has me made work better and more efficient.
