After working too hard and getting my 4 sites at #1-#4 in google, I checked my adsense revenue and its just less than a buck for 4 previous days like before. Just demotivated and don't know what to do next. I don't know if its going to work for me or not. Today I just watched movies and listened to musics. Should I really give it a break? Or does it happen with all?

Hey, that's an accomplishment to be proud of. #1 and #4 on Google - good for you!

If you are feeling down, then yes, definitely take a break and just do things you enjoy for a while. Stepping away not only gives you a chance to relax, it also gives your subconscious mind the opportunity to mull any problems you are facing to come up with inspired solutions behind the scenes. It will be worth it.

If you never give up, then you have a chance of success. If you give up, then you likely won't succeed.

Change your plans, strategies, and goals when needed.

Time to take a break. You've done well to get your sites to page 1. Now is the time to do something different, for a while, and enjoy your accomplishment. When you're ready to get back into it, find out what keywords pay the most per click.

Once you find these keywords, you'll need to start providing content to your websites based on this criteria. You've done the hard part already by getting your site on page 1 for organic searches. Now find those expensive keywords and start putting relevant content to get your adsense income up.

Your head gets filled with ideas on why things are working as planned. But relax you will be fine. Take your own advice and take a break. When you come back you will have a fresh mind. Good luck.

I guess demotivation is normal. I used to get demotivated by facing obstacles and having that feeling I couldn't break them. Now when I see an obstacle I'm GLAD, because I know when I break it, I've just put another brick on earth to build that big wall or I am one step closer to whatever I want to achieve.

If you feel demotivated right now, you should try to refresh your mind and focus on the useful things. That's how I've experienced sometimes, getting distracted with something that is useless. Try to throw that useless thing away and stay focus on your goals.

Grab a whiteboard or a notepad and write down 5 goals you would like to achieve.

Put it on the wall and in 2012 tell your self you would like to knock off 3 of them ...If you knock off 5 then great.

My point setting one unmeasurable goal is tricky

Measure 5 goals and knock them off is very rewarding. You have plenty of time in 2012 just keep on thinking of wacky ideas to knock them off.

That is some great advice! I made daily todo lists that never get done and my main goals seem so far out of reach. I definately need to sit down and do this.

    Hey buddy,
Congrats! That shows you're human .

Seriously, we will travel that route once a while. Take a deep breath, free your mind, it's time to divert your attention to your favorite activities.

But don't be absent (from your IM routine) for too long .

Just keep on pushing the limits!

Step back and start working on your next project. This will give you a fresh start on something new and keep you moving forward. Once you've done some work there, Go back to the original project.

This is one of the things I do to stay motivated. Also, just because it's not immediately apparent, doesn't mean your hard work isn't paying off.

Don't sweat it...I do this full-time and even now one day per week I usually write off after getting up and feeling depressed and end up with the munchies watching Dexter all day instead of working, which makes me feel guilty and worse...

Long story short, this WILL happen, especially if you have some rough things going on in life. What matters is that when it does you recognize it, accept it for what it is, let it happen, and then get back to zero again and start over again.

Don;t worry if it happens, just focus on your speed of response. I used to go into a funk that would last for days or weeks...got it down to one day now before I recover. I take it as a sign from my body and mind that I have too much stress and I use my large dislike of having days like that to inspire me to do the daily maintenance consistently that prevents or minimizes these kinds of days (meditation, relaxation, exercise, etc).

It's no good just visualizing success you have to have a burning desire for the place you want to get to.
You need to try and picture yourself in your mind where you want to be in say 5 years. And then you need to see hear and feel everything that's happening in that future time.
And keep that image and feeling with you all the time.

I love watching Will Smith and other similar videos when feeling demotivated... they help encourage me!

@opportunist86 Getting 4 sites to #1 and #4 in Google is a GREAT achievement! So look at the positive side of things and what you managed to accomplish. Get motivated by the positive, and try to learn from your experience. What could you have done to increase your earnings? Perhaps choose better - higher earning keywords? (Just thinking out loud here.) Take what you can learn from this experience, and replicate.

If you could take 4 sites to the top of Google you can take 40 others and then think of the potential income you can achieve with even more sites!

Setup your sites in Google Analytics and Webmaster tools (or something like this) to see how they're doing. If you really are at number #1 you'll soon see yourself ranking for new keywords and find out that you have to rank for more pages. That means more content and more SEO. You're not even close to finished.

You're on the cusp of something here and your next few decisions are going to separate you from the people smart enough to keep going and fail forward or the 90% of marketers who fail and give up.

Who are you going to be? Someone different or just like the rest? Ask yourself these two questions over and over again.

I ranked sites #1 and never made any money on them either. It had to do with writing bad pre-sell content or poor site design. My sites were too cluttered and people didn't stay on them very long.

BTW - you're not ranking #1 for "ceramic tiles" - you didn't show up in the top 100 results. For the 2nd keyword in your signature you are on the 1st page but not position 1. Your 2nd keyword is getting a monster 5,400 searches per month and you're ranked in the top ten but the real traffic sits in the top 3.

I'm not sure if these are the sites you're talking about so this might be something you already know!

Thanks a lot! This is really helpful.
Ceramics tiles is on 5th now when I search. Is it possible that it just appears on google pakistan only? If its like that then how should I increase its ranking for other countries.
Second keyword is on #3 and this is the only site that makes some money. Its difficult to rank #1 for this keyword I guess.
Also, what do you think about site design. I've not focused much on that but on SEO. Do you suggest that I change the design also?
      {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[5441944].message }}

I think your site design is fine - I'm sure you can make it cleaner but with AdSense you probably want that many ads right? I don't do adsense at all so I can't say.

Check out scroogle.org to see what your real search engine ranking is.

If you aren't ranking everywhere in the world and want to that comes down to IP diversity. Get backlinks from all over the place, all sorts of different sources.

I felt the same way when I ranked my very first Adsense site and didn't make a single cent the first month of it ranking.

I spent months building back links, writing content, and changing everything around just to see nothing come out of it.

I almost gave up, but I learned that not every website we build are going to be winners. Just learn from that and move onto a new site.

    Nice work on the rankings!

Continue with AdSense but look for other options to monetize your hard work.

Are there any products that are align to your niche you could become an affiliate for? Could you develop your own product to market to the traffic your bringing in?

Have multiple streams of income generated from your sites rather than focusing solely on advertising.

I think you should look at the bright side, ranking on page one of google is an accomplishment in itself. Internet Marketing will have a lot of ups and downs, obstacles but there will always be a reward. I think your motivation should be intrinsic rather than extrinsic. I am kind of diverging here but just look at the positives. =)

Getting your sites in #1 - #4 is awesome.

If you have that ability how about building sites and flipping them for revenue or selling them to businesses in that niche who don't have a site that ranks well or maybe don't even have a site.

That will give you some immediate income.

Take good care of those that you love.

And please remember, IM is all about persistence, your breakthrough may come just when you push a little bit harder, despite the feelings of being demotivated.

How much search volume do these words get? (exact) , are you receviing mroe traffic now that you are at the top?
