Quite true.

But some other qualities are also coming into my mind:-

1) Trusting their guts (believe in themselves)
2) Love what they do (do work with passion)
3) Be mentally tough (never give up)
4) Ability to work hard (stretching out of their comfort zones)
5) Focus on solution (not on the problem)
6) Ability to avoid as many distraction as possible (always be focused on their goals)
7) Don't get upset with negative events in life. They know these things are temporary and they will pass away.
8) Ability to take action everyday

It might sound cheesy but I think being nice goes a long way in business. Being polite and kind and doing something thoughtful can lead to referrals and repeat business but most of all it means you can sleep at night!
I also agree that persistence is a key factor in being a success.

Ability to get the job done fast.

This describes someone who is sailing from Cuba to Florida on a tractor tire.

The biggest thing I noticed about really successful people I have spoken to including John Kanary is that they were greatful and humble.

I had breakfast with him by chance one day in Calgary, Alberta at a training ( for once he wasn't bombarded ) and we spoke openly about success and how it has made him millions. He referred to me in the crowd of hundreds that day for his examples including my mentors and that got my business some attention, that I am still greatful for !

Unless I overlooked it I didn't see this mentioned at all and is probably the number one quality in my opinion.

The starting place for all success is a Dream!

Successful people have something they long to achieve.

I know that goals and vision have been mentioned but I believe these start with a dream.

What's yours?

Not a simple thing necessarily to describe is it? The better you can bring your dream into focus the more successful you will be because your dream will bring out greatness in you because it will pull you towards it.

Now is that heavy or not?

I think this problem can be solved by just listing the works to be done ,when you wake up in the morning or on previous night before going to bed,on a piece of paper and then prioritising the works on the basis of its importance.

What I have found in my experiences with the thousands of clients that I have mentored are these 2 attributes/skills:

1. The ability to learn effective time management/priority management
2. The ability to learn how to manage oneself in writing (such as daily journaling)

These two attributes are the commonalities that most all highly successful people have learned to use and to master.

When used daily, these two skills produce:

1. Focus
2. Clarity

It allows you to become decisive and highly productive...daily

I agree with many of your assessments above about the generalization of successful people, but I would like to add the following.

Success comes from within, no one can tell someone else that they are successful. If a person does not feel successful from within, then nobody can tell them they are.

If I feel like I'm successful for working at McDonalds for $10 dollars an hour for the rest of my life, then who is to say I am NOT successful. On the other hand, if I am a Fortune 500 CEO making 25 million a year, but I do not think I am successful, who has the right to tell me that I am?

Success is a state of mind for each and every person. What is successful to you may not be successful to me.
