The most inspired I've been by a movie in a long time...was when I watched the recent Slumdog Millionaire. It won a Golden Globe for best picture, and it's some amazing cinematography. Definitely uplifting and very positive.

      Good question...here are my favorites...

      1. Miracle
      2. Seabiscuit
      3. Apollo 13
      4. Rocky
      5. Castaway
      6. Phenomenon

Now you might say, why CASTAWAY? that was depressing? Think about it...it's the ultimate tale of human survival. For one man to endure that kind of hardship for so long, when life is broken down to its most basic elements, you really find out what you're made of. Would you have the strength to endure?

Mine is Life is Beautiful - Roberto Benigni

Yes it has subtitles but that doesn't detract from the film.

It is based on World War II and in places it is just too sad but it is also very funny, very uplifting and shows what the love of a father can do for his son.

It is a great eye opener on human behaviour as well. Not the obvious despicable behaviour of the Nazis but of individuals. There is a doctor who knew the lead character pre - war, and they meet up in the camp. The doctor is very stressed as he cant remember a competition answer (from memory its been a while since I saw it) and speaks of his distress to the main character who is a Jewish inmate!

If you ever need reminding that the love one person has for another can achieve miracles it is this film.

Really deserved the Oscars it won.

        Best wishes

        Rach

I agree with most of the previous entries all top ten material !

Whilst there are many films that provide inspiration I think that certain types of film "connect" better with different people. Maybe if you have a personal interest in it?

My favourite is Braveheart ~ particularly the speech. Search Youtube for it, worthwhile motivator.

      Yes I'm biased I'm Scottish

Another film I watched, can't remember the name at the moment, starred William G(?) Macy, as a disabled door-to-door salesman.

It was based on a true story of how he persisted against the odds to overcome his difficulties & succeeded in sales.

Another film that inspired me to action is Pay It Forward. Brilliant.

I agree with many of the previously mentioned.

I saw one recently that I thoroughly enjoyed.
      "Miss Potter"

It is the story of Beatrix Potter who is more well known for her childrens books like Peter Rabbit.

She held to her dreams to do what she wanted in life despite the time period when women were expected to fit into a very narrow slot of how they should be and do and act and that had nothing to do with working or careers. She became financially independent of her parents, something that was unheard of at that time.

One of my most inspirational movies is a Chinese movie called "King of Masks". (I got it from netflix). It's set in China in the 40's and follows the story of an old man who is similar to a street magician (but switches paper masks) and adopts a child in order to pass on his legacy.

It has subtitles but is one of the most inspirational and beautifully filmed brilliant movies I've ever seen.

For me the most inspirtaional movie of all time would be 'The Matrix'. Not for the action and the cinematography but for the story. Essentially about a man waking up to the fact that there is another world out there and the enormous amount of belief in himself that it takes for surviving in this world if he could only wake up to the fact that his thinking limits his belief.

I have to admit to watching it over 100 times and I still get something from it every time.

It looks like I need to watch The Pursuit of Happyness.

I also saw some mentions of 7 Pounds too. To be honest, I felt down after leaving the movie. I understand they were trying to share a positive message, but the overall tone and ending was very bittersweet. For me personally, I need to leave a film feeling upbeat to be the most inspired.

I have always been a Jimmy Stewart fan and this is one of my favorite Stewart movie.

    Mr. Smith Goes to Washington
Stewart's charter Jefferson Smith is considered a naïve political appointment sent to serve in the Senate. But the defilers of democracy misjudged Jefferson Smith's devotion to the principles of the American Constitution and his sense of fairness and justice. If only we could find just a few real Mr. Smiths today. We will just have to wait and see what the next 4 years bring us.

I also like some of the other suggestions such as Good Will Hunting, Glengarry Glenn Ross
    and Shawshank Redemption.

What The Bleep Do We Know!?

Just watch it and tell me our thoughts don't affect reality. This is the basis for me getting into LoA so much.

This led to me to meditate as a daily practice. It led me to the realization that negative emotions and thoughts are shit filled anchors holding us back.

Control your thoughts and you can control what you manifest. Simple as that.

**Your subconscious thoughts/beliefs also play a role here. You need to build up everything from the ground up in the direction of your intentions/goals in order to properly manifest with minimal resistance.

Oh, there are many that come to mine. my favorite is "Powder" and "Signs" Powder was about a kid (i think he was a mixture of an angel, spirit guide, etc) and he was born into a mother who was struck by lightening. Well the mother died, and he was raised by his grandparents who kept him locked away in a basement. He was exceptional with his reading and writing skills. His IQ was off the charts.......i won't tell the rest of the movie cause I don't want to spoil it for everyone. just go out and rent it. "Signs" was the movie with Mel Gibson in it about the aliens. It just points out that everything happens for a reason....such as chain of events. Good movies.

Anybody seen "My Neighbor Totoro"? It's a Japanese animation by Hayao Miyazaki. Widely known by anime fans but not too famous among Holywood-ish moviegoers. Has been pickd up by Disney and English dubbed. Two of the voice cast is Dakota Fanning and her little sister as Satsuki and Mei.

I've watched the movie times and times again (alone or with my family) and never get bored. It teaches us how happy a simple life can be from the perspective of young girls.

Note all movies listed are never give up type movies.
1.Cinderella man: story of triumph over poverty in the midst of the depression when all others are giving in. A must see for all dads.

2.Schindlers List: the inspiration of one man driven by money only finding his heart in midst of war.

3.In the name of the father: Hmmm so far true stories are my theme. A boy turns into a man, a real man in the most unlikely place, prison. Honoring his father finally.

4.Rudy: I am originally from Indiana ok!! Regardless inspiring.

5.Passion of the Christ: a man refuses to deny who he is even when tortured unto death.

6.Gandhi: Peace will always be the solution to any conflict.

Gotta give it up for Will Smith in the "inspirational movies" category:

    Pursuit of Happyness
    I am Legend
    Seven Pounds

Vision Quest is a really motivational movie for people who love sports movies.

Can't believe only posted once, A Beautiful Mind, is a quality film, closely followed by shawshank redemption (although the book is better).

Coach Carter is pretty cool and a Pursuit of Happiness is a very painful watch... but in a good way!

    Pursuit of Happiness.

I love this quote, very inspirational:

Will Smith advises his son..."Don't ever let someone tell you, you can't do something. Not even me. You got a dream, you got to protect it. People can't do something themselves, they want to tell you you can't do it. You want something, go get it. Period."

The Rocky movies. Another inspirational quote:

"The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It's a very mean and nasty place... and I don´t care how tough you are, it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently, if you let it. You, me or nobody, is gonna hit as hard as life. But ain't about how hard you hit... It's about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward... how much you can take, and keep moving forward. That´s how winning is done. Now, if you know what you worth, go out and get what you worth. But you gotta be willing to take the hits. And not pointing fingers saying: You ain´t what you wanna be because of him or her or anybody. Cowards do that and that ain´t you! You´re better than that!" (Rocky Balboa)

The Family Man. Love that movie.

John Q... Awesome movie I just saw recently about a father doing whatever it takes to save his son's life.

I really enjoyed Startup.com and E-Dreams, both older documentarys I picked up on amazon for cheap. To me they were a great peek into the Startup life including pitching for VC money and the drama that comes along with assembling a team however they might not have the most inspiring happy ending take-aways you might be looking for but I loved them. If I recall they were both during the dot com bubble so you can imagine the conclusions of both.

Big Fish, for instance is very motivational. It shows how a person can do almost anything if they really want to. Great story!

"Get busy livin' or get busy dyin'"

That was from Shawshank Redemption. I don't know if that is the most inspirational of ALL TIME, but it sticks out in my mind...especially that quote.

Andy was in prison for almost 20 years for a crime he didn't commit. It was neat at the end to see him on the beach working on that boat. And I thought to myself "That's what it's about, that simple joy." I bet he appreciates the little things much more...

He had to let go over every care about what other thought of him (something most are consumed with on a daily basis), and keep the hope of seeing the ocean or taking a breath of free air again drive him. The simple joys...
