To students : how do you multitask between IM and school?

I'm 23 and a graduate student who's also working on thesis. Here's the problem : with the thesis and research demanding deadline, my time is crammed to only 1,5 hours a day for IM. I slept at 9 PM, wake at 3 AM and not sleeping anymore -- where I do all my tasks. I usually shared 50 : 50 time between college tasks and IM. But now it's almost impossible to multitask like that. And my budget is very very tight to outsource.

My IM does grow....but it's very slow. Even too slow and close to stagnant. Simply because my time is crammed. In weekends, I still work on my thesis or IM and rarely rest. Sometimes when my mental is very tired I just want to abandon them all, both IM and thesis research.

I'm asking to Warriors, especially those who are also students : how is your time management strategy if you were in my shoes (with tight budget to outsource)? How do you multitask between school or college tasks and IM?

For a student, it's really hard to multitask yourself with IM. One of my friends have his own experience to do both school and IM at the same time when he was in college. For sure, studies are always his first priority before IM. He spent at least 1-2 hours a day on IM, and spent most of his time to study his lessons.

Now that he's already graduated, he has no problem working with the IM all day.

I would suggest you try and take a bit of pressure off yourself regarding the IM.

Your studies are obviously important, so put the proper time aside for that and choose maybe 2 or 3 or even 4 days when you can put in a couple of hours for IM. That way you won't stress just because you haven't done something for your IM business every day.

I applaud your work ethic - it will get you success, but at your age you have to have a work life balance and you don't want to burn out.

Sit down and work out what time you can realistically put in to you IM business, and what time you MUST put into your studies. Then take one day off from all of it.

      Hope that helps a bit.

You will succeed, but IM is a slow and steady business, even though you want it fast! We all do!

lol yes, when I'm excited on working I'm unstoppable : forget to eat, sleep, or bathing. that's my longtime bad habit . My boyfriend complained me too about this "balance"

It is tough when you're starting out. Keep chipping away at it daily and make as many connections as possible, networking is massively important, Get on Skype and stay on Skype, keep chatting and you'll find people that can help you and will want your help in return. Treat it like any other business, have objectives, targets and goals, both long term and short term and make the most out of your time that you do work on your business. You cant fail.

Just keep plugging along with 1-2 hours per day. It might take 3 years of slow growth but it WILL happen if you persist. The time you can devote right now determines how fast you get there, but that's all.

I would relax, do what you can, and just be consistent over the long haul. Pay your bills however you need to. And stay balanced. most of the "rush" to succeed in IM is all in the entrepreneur's head and can make you miserable.
