I did this little change every morning, and it make my life better !

You know what?
Before this, my first online activity every morning was to read news !
It happen for years.

The change I did was, stop reading any news !
Since than, I feel my day is better than before.

Here the reason, IMO.
  1. news have lot of negative elements, such as, murder, accidents, crimes etc
  2. news make your brain thinking uncertain things. I don't say that, thinking is bad
  3. news industry is abused. they just want to make their newspaper sold, and make headlines look controversional

What I'm doing right now.
I blocked myself from watching news and reading news every morning.

I will then read the news later, on noon.

Happy trying;

Good going Raja! Better yet, why not stop reading/listening to the news altogether?

News is aimed toward the poor masses in society - people who have no hope for self-betterment, generally hate the rich, and love to hear bad news as it makes them feel better about themselves.

The news is all full of doom and gloom, especially with the economic crisis. Listening to it makes you stop spending, stop investing in your business, and your business suffers as a result.

You're so right. It's hard to stay positive and productive if you have so much negative input.

You are on the money with that no-news strategy, Raja.
I too have virtually eliminated all news, except for what
little I se in headlines when I'm online.
I used to be a news junkie, and found it to be a total waste
of time. It's just an endless flow of bias and negativity.
It's now been 4 years since I severed my unhealthy tie
to the news. And I'm much better for it.
I only wish I had acted even sooner.

No ones really saying it can't be useful. But because there's so much negativity....it can effect your outlook and productivity.

I am glad you stop reading the news.. I put on some some motivational speaking every morning to start my day we need something to combat all of this negative energy that we will face once we walk out of that door..

Raja, my wife and I got so tired of the negativity, we stopped watching the news years ago. In fact, TV got so bad, we cut cable too. Now we get to monitor what we and the kids watch and the atmosphere in the house is a lot more positive. Congrats to you, its a big step!

The only problem when you stop watching the news is that some idiots that DO watch it tend to think they are more intelligent and look down on you as being ignorant.

Seriously, I know people who follow the news so diligently, it's almost as if they are a key member of parliament involved in policy-making, while in actual fact they're not changing **** about the world, and having 'news' knowledge doesn't help them one bit in their own lives.

It's knowledge for the sake of knowledge, rather than the sake of advancement of oneself or others. What a waste of time and energy.

Good advice, that's part of the reasons I stopped paying attention to the news a long time ago. I'll hear about the big news, but there's too much crap to really want to dig my teeth into.

I agree, that's why 'alternative' news sites and channels are much more constructive - less negativity and more liberating in the sense that they actually give you the true picture of world events so you can see more clearly why things are occurring. I'd never look at a mainstream news site or channel ever again - yuk!

I totally agree, no news is good news. I never watch TV.

I was writing for a financial blog a few months ago about the Greek Financial Crisis. Writing and researching about it made it feel like it was really, really serious like the economy was going to collapse at any moment.

I stopped writing about it and completely forgot about the situation.

Today I read the newspaper while I picked up my coffee and I saw that they are still trying to resolve the problem and yet the economy keeps truckin' and we keep making money.

Ahh I agree with your point but not completely. Newspapers also have positive news as well as negative news. And they make controversial headlines to sell their newspapers.

Good for you, Raja. I stopped watching news and tv altogether. For the most part, I wouldn't know about any of the latest news and gossip if it weren't for facebook friends posting (example: Whitney Houston). But I do sometimes check out the local news website to see what's going on in my area.

The funny thing is, the further removed I am from that daily intake of "news", the more in touch with reality I find myself becoming...

I completely agree with you on this. But yo can always steer yourself away from certain news. I just stick to the modern science news and technology. I don't want to hear about a car accident that kills ten first thing in the morning.

I completely stopped watching news back when I was selling real estate. I did keep up on mortgage rates and general trends from trusted sources, but overall my no news diet increased my sales significantly.

The beauty of that process was, I had more time to focus on my daily plan, my mindset was kept positive, I was generally happier, and it all resulted in HUGE results.

Even now I just keep up on tech stuff and I read it AFTER my workday. I time block my focus time, exercise, and mentor time and just like in real estate, seeing great results!

    Enjoy the no news diet!
