Happiness is a journey

For the last several months I've been struggling. Nothing was really wrong I just couldn't seem to be happy. No matter what I did I was stressed.
The other night I ended up staying out past midnight hanging out with friends. It was the first time I'd taken some time off for me. Time when I didn't have to feel stressed by the demands of work and family.
For a few blissful hours it was as if none of it existed.
After that it was as if I'd gone through a transformation. I couldn't stop smiling. Everything was so much better. Even the things that I struggled with the day before came easily.

Sometimes you need these breaks. Stress can destroy everything you are working for, so if you feel stressed take a few hours and laugh. Not a light laugh, but the full blown laugh that lifts you into the sky and makes you soar.

I couldn't agree more. Sometimes it's mind over matter-or over money. You need to take the time to ignore all the pressure and get away, even if it's just to the bathtub or a friend's house next door.

Totally agree. Everyone need to take time off for themselves. If you don't, the end result could be burn-out.

I'm pretty sure others have had similar experiences too. We all need to make sure we schedule regular time out for ourselves, regardless of work / family situations.

      Thanks for sharing!

    Couldn't agree more.

Make a choice - go out with your friends or stay in and work - be happy or be sad - worry and be stressed or accept the situation and work on fixing it.

Good choice. Sometimes you just need to get away from what's causing the stress and relax.

Take good care of those that you love.

I have been there. Laughter is the best cure for this. When I am frustrated with anything in life, taking some time with friends and family is the best cure.

    Don't sweat the small things!

    Like I like to say:
Success is not the absence of previous faillure.
Joy is not the absence of previous pain.

Absolutely...what is life if you can LIVE it fully...I know what its like to work 18 hour days for long periods of time. When you kids say "daddy, when are you going to spend time with me."...I decided long ago that LIVING life, family, building relationships with yourself and with others is more important than money..

But a fun thing happens...when you are happy with your life...the money follows. People want to do business with happy people.

It all comes down to choice..

"Today I will CHOOSE to be Happy"

      Too true.

As a wise man once said -

"there is no way to happiness...happiness is the way"

My way of doing that is to go into the forest - there is no more natural place for a human being to be. It gives you a kind of peace you can never find in the city, no matter where you go or who you are with.

Absolutely. Breaks are not only important, they are quite necessary if you don't want to burn yourself out. Taking some time off every now and again will recharge your batteries and make you more productive

So true, timeout is vital for health and happiness...

I'm lucky enough to have a park across from my home office and often duck across during the day with my radio controlled helicopter or glider for some time out.

I always come back feeling calm and refreshed.

Being outside, in nature, is definitely the way to go. I love walking near bodies of water, I'm often near the river or the bay; and being around lots of old trees, I find very soul satisfying.

good post, Its always good to be reminded of this. As a full time student I encounter the "burn out" far to often. I'll spend 6 straight hours or so studying for a test and its seems like it will never sink in. Just then I take an hour or two and get away from the books for a bit, When I get back everything clicks and is so much clearer than before i took a break.

I agree with your views and by laughing we can get out of the stress. Each and everything is important in life but happiness is the most important thing through out the life.It must be a part in the day to day life. Then we can enjoy the journey of life and we can lead our life in achieving what we want.

Guys enjoy your life with happiness as a journey.

  • This perspective has helped me to see that there is no way to happiness. Happiness is the way. So, treasure every moment that you have. And treasure it more because you shared it with someone special, special enough to spend your time … and remember that time waits for no one…
