Your Favorite Rags to Riches Stories?

One of my favorite hobbies is reading or watching rags to richs stories. I personally call them the "mental breakfast of champions." Because they provide instant...

-Inspiration!
-Encouragement!
and
-Enlightenment!

They're the best at giving you that "if they can overcome that, I can overcome this" feeling.

They're easy to relate to and remember when you're in the middle of a challenge or impossible situation.

I have many favorites, 3 latest rags to riches stories that come to mind are ...

Oprah Winfrey
Tyler Perry
50 Cent

What's your favorite rags to riches stories? Thanks for sharing.

Chris Gardner, the guy from The Pursuit of Happiness (Will Smith movie).

I love the part about enlightenment. When you realize you can, all bets are off.

I have a personal mentor and friend who came as a refugee and doing well. I watched him made over $120K last weekend. He set his goal to $100K and he was $20K short on Saturday evening when we had dinner. By Sunday evening, he closed another $40K.

He went through the school of hard-knocks, nearly lost everything and don't have a college degree. He's a humble person who cares about people and made some of his staff millionaires.

That for me is an inspiration to succeed.

I think on some level most stories are rags to riches. People think the rich have it easy because well, they're already rich. But the fact is that growing up rich can enable people to appreciate money less and be lazy about taking risks. So we all have our own struggles

Yes, I remember seeing that show, very revealing look at Tony Robbins behind the scenes. Interesting ritual he goes through before each show. Incredible energy he expends, he must lose 10 pounds by the time his day is over. And of course ... the famous fire walk at the end.

Yeah he is. I like how UCLA, his dream school, has stated he'd probably have been a starter. Yeah, I bet.

On a side note, Harvard recently had a four star player commit. That's ridiculous since Ivies don't give out athletic scholarships and never have any "good" teams. That's like a top tier team getting five fiver star players (five star is the highest echelon for recruits).

I like the term, the "mental breakfast of champions." And yes, rags to riches stories are great reminders for everyone who are in a tight situation, that trying times are not permanent. Anyone can overcome difficulties, no matter who or what they are in life. It's the art of never giving up that spells the difference.
