OK. Sooo at this point I'm about to seriously damage my laptop. I feel like chunking it and all of the information I've been soaking up for about a good clean year right outta my crappy apartment window... When I first started internet marketing, I was so inspired, that and I consider myself a HUGE geek because I love gadgets, tinker toys, all things techy, until I realized that every subject of IM and making money online period is divided into category after category after process after process and so on and so forth and I have yet to make a DIME. I'm just really overwhelmed, yet still hoping with all of my newbie heart that something good can come out of this. I bought the membership to this forum because I figure that if I didnt get anything else out of this, I've learned that Information is worth it's weight in gold. So, I suppose this is a desperate attempt for someone to give me a kind word, or something that will renew my dull inspiration. Something to splash my face with so I can take a deep breath and dive back in. Thanks in advance for looking at this over the top post.

I can feel your frustration and I've been there, so have many of us here, so you are not alone.

You sound overwhelmed and like you've been taking in way too much information but not necessarily focusing on just one. The best tip I ever learned (and it took years to learn it) is that you NEED to focus one just ONE thing and and a literal obsession with it and do not stop obsessing for at least 3 months consistantly.

You first need to decide what you'll enjoy obsessing about Don't choose just what you think will make the most money, pick something that you enjoy, so you can stay the course.

I would suggest clearing your mind completely on whatever you have been working on that hasn't been working. Then choose your niche and STAY THE COURSE!

I hope this helps a little!

    What are you good at?

How can you turn that into a product/service?

What would the product be? It may help to think of the area of internet marketing that appeals to you (CPA, WSOs, Affiliate Marketing, Videos, MP3s etc). I'd start by setting up a blog and having a freebie on an option page so you can start building your list.)

    What's the market?

What problem does it solve better/quicker/cheaper the other similar products?

    Remember, success is simple:

Do what you love + Be good at doing what you love + Be good at marketing what you do = success! All else is commentary and/or over complication!

If you want greater clarity, PM me and I'll take you through things - I've been there and have only recently seen the light at the end of the tunnel.

shmerns hit the nail on the head. Focus on just one single proven method and stick with it until you make it work for you. arranricice's advice is also right on --get a domain, hosting and set up a site/blog.

My advice is to set up an opt-in page and start building a list

    My advice to you is
    1. Start small
    2. Take action
    3. Stay focus

It is very frustrating at times, especially when you are overloaded with too much information. I have got through that experience myself where you start to doubt your own self and lose confidence.

I would suggest taking a break from a few days to a week or even a month and not think or do anything that relates to IM to recharge your batteries. Basically clear your mind, allow yourself to refocus on your priorities and find the spark that drove you into IM in the first place.

    All the best!

Hang in there buddy. Success doesn't come easy and if you are going to make it in online marketing you are going to have a deep burning desire for financial freedom. The end results will be amazing but it's not an easy road to travel.

Some days really are just that frustrating.. whether you're a newbie marketer (like you), trying to start up a small business on the street, or a newbie content writer (like me)-- there really are days.. and you aren't alone! To me, you seem to have a lot of skills.. and I will repeat what was said by others. Pick a thing you like-- it does not have to be the "very best thing" or "the most thing".. just something you like, that you can see has potential-- and concentrate on just that.. try the different avenues you thought of for that potential, and stick to just that. When it starts to move enough (and you need to be the judge of that), then start something else.. but set aside time every day for your original "thing" as well, to keep it going.
... and there isn't anything wrong with starting small. It helps when you still need to figure out how to allot your time between productive tasks.
    Best of Luck!

    Hello, EG23:

Like others have said, IM is challenging and can be very frustrating because it sometimes seems like you are making no progress and your efforts are for nothing. But do hang in there because the info and experience you gain today are the building blocks of the foundation for success that you are building for tomorrow.

Internet Marketing is all about marketing: tell us, what marketing efforts have you put forth so far?

I see that you do not have a forum signature. A forum sig is a great method of FREE marketing and in my opinion, every member should set up their forum sig. I always make it a priority in every forum I join to set up my profile and my signature before I do anything else.

Several people have responded with kind words and encouragement and i saw one offer that you could send PM to. Give thanks that there is such a resource to support you. And give THANKS literally through the Forum Thanks button to a few of the replies that helped you the most. No, I'm not fishing for thanks myself. But it's been proven that the act of giving thanks actually makes one's outlook more optimistic.

Go exercise, then get alone, listen to soft classical or inspiration music, meditate, pray, reflect on what your heart tells you, and write it down.

Find something to be thankful for, then go out and help someone, give kindness freely.

Now, sit back down at the computer, and only read/work on one thing.

Even tiny steps over time make progress. You can do it. You can succeed.

It's already been said but try and focus on something that is proven which you really enjoy doing and being involved in. Something that really fits with you as a person. If you're not jumping out of bed every morning excited for the day ahead, try and find something that gives you that emotion. If that's too cheesy, you should at least get some sort of buzz out of your daily routine.

For me, it's not all about money, sure you want to make as much as you can but its important to have fun while you're doing it, otherwise what's the point. If I was desperate to pay the bills, any job would do but changing my life forever for the better will take something I love doing and am really passionate about because rarely does success happen overnight. People often stick at things that keep them fired up. Good luck.

Don't give up! I've had a few meltdowns myself. It happens... sometimes you just got let the tears, the fists against the wall, all the anger and rage just come out and then continue to move forward. You said you like gadgets? That's a great niche! You can make a blog either doing reviews of the latest electronics that you love. Make a youtube channel with either doing reviews or just talking about stuff that you like and why you love it. You can put a nice spin to it, like make a small skits on the many uses of the gadget, or make short movies (4 to 10 minutes) based around the gadgets. The ideas are limitless. Embed the youtube videos to your website. Join a affiliate network, place some affiliate ads on it and just wait. It doesn't happen overnight but people will start watching your videos and will go to your site.

Have you ever watched Field of Dreams? If you build it, they will come! Believe in that.... and keep fighting. If you make a blog post every day, even if it's not a review but just your experience with anything tech related then the traffic will come! Factor in the videos you make on Youtube and you could double that traffic. All you need is a webcam. You can get one for cheap on Amazon. I think I paid 30 dollars for mine.

I have a youtube account (tbr: you don't have to visit it but it's just proof that I'm not bs you). I don't make videos at the moment because I'm waiting to buy expensive equipment. Within a year's time I gained almost 200 subscribers and over 90,000 views on my all the videos. I was just playing video games, drunk most of the time, and having a blast. I didn't scale this up at all, no marketing, nothing, and I made tons of friends there and it was just so much fun. Just imagine if you placed just a small percentage of knowledge gained here (marketing, advertising, etc...) into your channel and build a website around that, you could have an empire on your hands. Do what you love... that's the fundamental principle.

Now that is why I absolutely love this forum...I posted this a few days ago, and decided that maybe I should just take a break, and literally logging back in and seeing all of the encouragement was so uplifting and inspired me to reevaluate my current strategies and focus on what is most important. I am trying to re-train my brain to slow down, and take a beat for the sake of preserving my sanity I want to thank all of you that replied, and posted your words of inspiration, tips, etc. To answer some of your questions, I do have a squeeze page, and I've attracted some to my list that's setup on aweber, some have unsubscribed, but it hasnt really kicked off of the ground yet. Maybe a few of you could give me some tips/pointers? I'm not asking for a handout, just for someone to say "Hey, this website kinda sucks, have you tried blank blank blank?" Something along those lines... I have seen that almost everyone on the warrior forum has a signature, so I'll look into getting that also. I've been looking into about 5-6 different things at the same time, two of them involving a squeeze page to build a list, and possibly getting into cpa marketing, but I'm pulling myself into far too many directions...sooo. I'm just going to start off with one thing, and see how it goes. But keep the comments coming! Thanks again guys.
