The NO BS ONLY 2 things you need to succeed!!!

I recently made a post on the forum that really got me thinking about 2 very important things that ive noticed EVERY successful person has. And honestly, I find it hard to see anyone succeeding at anything without them.

Mind you he is very educated and if he only had the drive & ambition he could easily start a successful service to make enough money to at least get by until he got back on his feet.

Been a few months now and he is still looking for work and asking others for cash. Even worse is that he has this resentful attitude towards me as if I owe him something just because we grew up together, and thinks I should apparently be pouring money down the drain to help him get by.
In case you missed it, I am referring to drive and ambition...

Unlike this friend of mines when I first started I literally told myself that I would make a full-time living online or DIE trying. I would go for DAYS on literally 2-3 hours of sleep (9am-6am). When my eyes were burning from looking at the screen all day, I just told myself that I would keep right on typing until I literally went blind or it LITERALLY KILLED ME. And it sucked, but im not dead yet. I called these suicide weeks and some of the most significant changes/progress in my business happened during these (for obvious reasons).

I learned this attitude from my experience as an Airborne Infantryman in the 82nd Airborne Division . It doesn't matter how tired you are, JUST GET IT DONE.

Noone cares if you just broke your leg, just get it done.
Noone cares if your head hurts and or your wife is pregnant, just get it done.
Noone cares if you can't patrol because you are hungry and didn't sleep last night...just GET IT DONE.

Iv'e always said that it comes down to ambition...

"You either have it or you don't; You either will or you won't."

My most successful friends are viciously ambitious and would work 3 full time jobs and sleep under a bridge if it meant saving money for a potential investment/payoff. Unfortunately some people have it, and some don't.

What are some of the horrible things you have had to experience in order to see success?
What kept you motivated and pushing through?
How many "suicide" weeks, or days, do YOU have under your belt??

Thanks so much for sharing this! And thank you for your service to our great country. Ambition is sorely lacking all across this welfare-mindset nation of ours. Thomas Jefferson once said that a nation powerful enough to give you everything is also powerful enough to take it all away. I live in the cold dark northeast. There is a serious lack of ambition and vision in general. Thanks for a great post!

It takes me a long time to figure out if something is worth my effort, which is good. But once I have decided its worthwhile to commit, then you are a d*mn fool if you think that I won't make it happen.

And if working too hard at something will kill you then I guess somebody better get a freakin casket ready! lol

Hell I would write magazine quality articles for $1 a peice if it meant saving up to buy a few domains, and look my doubters dead in the eye and say "...because im not dead yet". Seriously.

And as you mentioned, ericbryant, our founding fathers did have this attitude. They really had no choice, it was either survice & thrive or perish. And what do you know, they made it happen.

Copy this attitude and BE SUCCESSFUL. Don't let anything hold you back, not even yourself!

I've had my fair share of suicide weeks. There were times when I would do split testing and things just wouldn't work. But everytime, it's the thought of "THIS IS NOT ME. I AM BETTER" would spur me on... and since those initial day, I haven't looked back.

Now, I'm doing well but If I had quit back in those days when nothing was going for me, I'd be in a totally different place today.

I have to say, you are spot on on this....those with "drive" and "ambition" tend to look for solutions rather than worry about problems. You do the best you can, then you get to the next task. There are a lot of entrepreneurs wannabies whom read to much, or read too little and worry too much about the next stage before dealing with getting the tasks they need done.

I think all you need is ambition which is also your purpose... Finding true purpose gives you the reason and the drive to pursue it...

I have ambition. But I guess it boils down to perspective and priority. Financial success and work is not my priority. Living and family is. I decided to work at home so I can have more freedom to do other things in life than just work, work, work. I don't want to wake up one day realizing I just let my life pass me by.

good post, well written. Those two elements can spur you to achieve, however you define achievement. in today's society, a lack of drive and ambition can still see you like a relatively comfortable life. But only a true desire for something better will push you further.
