I received this email yesterday from Frank Kern.I found it very inspirational
so I thought I would share it.

I originally sent this email to
you exactly one year ago to the day.

Absolutely NOTHING has changed in
terms of my opinion on this matter :-)

I sincerely hope that as you reflect
back over the past 365 days from when
I first sent you this, you feel a good
sense of accomplishment and fulfillment.

--------------------------------------------------

Here's what I sent you one year ago:
--------------------------------------------------

Let me tell you something about YOU.

YOU can do anything you want. YOU are
in control.

YOU can achieve as much success as you
want to.

YOU can and will pick yourself up when
life knocks you down.

I BELIEVE IN YOU.

That's all I wanted to say,

Frank

P.S. I'm sending you this because I just spent
some time with my Grandfather today.

He will turn 89 in a few weeks and when I
was younger, he would tell me what I just
told you.

And let me tell you ...I've been knocked on
my ass more times than I can count. And it
was those words that gave me the encouragement
to get back up and keep trying.

We all need someone in our corner. He was in
mine.

I'll be in yours to the best of my ability.

We're innundated with so much negative
crap these days ...we ALL need someone
to encourage us.

Look ...if you're struggling, I've been there
...and I can tell you first hand that it'll get better
if you keep on trying.

I believe in you. Go for it.

-----------------------------------------------------------

BACK TO THE PRESENT DAY

-----------------------------------------------------------

When I sent you that email, I was a mess.

I was unhappy with my business (even though it
was maklng plenty of money).

I was miserable in my family life, and I was literally
on the brink of dying young.

Seriously.

A few months after typing that very email,
I went to the doctor for some random tests
and so-forth.

(I'd been feeling a bit run down for a long time.)

Anyway - after some testing, the doctor hit me with
a dire warning:

KEEP IT UP AND YOU'RE A DEAD MAN.

Apparently, you can't party like a rock star
from age 15 until age 38 and get away with it.

And that's exactly what I'd been doing.

You know how it's supposedly OK to have 2.5
drinks a day or whatever?

Well, I thought that if you just "saved up" all week
and had your entire week's worth of drinks in
one night, it would kind of be the same.

Make sense, right?

I mean 2.5 drinks a day is around 17 drinks
a week.

So I'd be "drink free" every day except
Saturday and then I'd have my whole "ration"
in one day.

OK - now that I'm typing that out, I see how
utterly moronic it sounds lol.

Anyway - that's what I did for 23 straight
years ...which is why I was literally on the
brink of catastrophic liver failure.

No kidding! My liver was actually so swollen
that the doctor could just poke it with his
finger.

(Damn, that hurts by the way.)

Plus, my blood pressure was so high that
it was off the charts.

So the doctor gave me the Big Lecture
and I actually listened.

Within 6 months, I'd totally cleaned
up my act and lost 20 pounds of fat.

And fast forward to today and I have an
entirely different and significantly happier life.

My health is good, my business is good, and
I enjoy my family life so much that I closed
down my office and only work from home.

I even have a new son who just turned
8-weeks old!

(He'll be writing headlines by summer.)

------------------------------------------------------
HERE'S THE POINT
------------------------------------------------------

If you're looking back on the past year and
you're NOT happy with where you are now,
IT WILL NEVER GET BETTER.

Not if you keep doing the same stuff that's
gotten you the results you're not happy with.

So if this is you then let me do you the
same favor my Doctor did for me.

-----------------------------------------------------
LET ME SHOOT YOU STRAIGHT
-----------------------------------------------------

Look man, you gotta change what you're
doing.

It's not working.

If it was, you'd be thrilled with your progress
since my message to you a year ago.

But if you're not, then it's time to change.

Here's how to do it:

1. Get absolutely focused on what you really
want.

Do this by TURNING OFF THE DAMN COMPUTER
and just writing down the answer to this question:

"What do I REALLY want?"

Screw what the emails tell you you SHOULD
want.

Screw what your wife, husband, parents, kids,
or anyone else WANTS you to want.

This is about YOU.

What do you really want?

Want to sell training plans to cross-dressing
MMA competitors?

Great. If that's your thing, go for it.

Wanna run off and play guitar in coffee shops
across South America?

Good. You only live once. Be happy. Play
"Freebird" at least once. For me. Thank you.

Whatever you do, get clear. Otherwise you're ripe
for falling into someone else's agenda.

2. Dump The Crap Out Of Your Brain.

You do this by writing down a huge list of EVERYTHING
you THINK gotta do to in order to do what you REALLY want.

Just doing that will kind of "clear it from your brain"
and free up space in your "mental computer's"
RAM.

3. Decide what's doable.

You know that big list you just made that's probably
freaking you out?

Go through it and put star by all the stuff you can
actually do.

4. Decide what you can do NOW.

Now. You know all the stuff with stars by it?

The stuff you can actually DO?

Go through all of it and find the stuff you can do
in the next 30 days.

Put two stars by those items.

5. Screw the other stuff.

All the other stuff can be dealt with later.

Now - let me address critics in the audience who
want to debate whether or not that's a good strategy.

"Isn't that procrastination?"

"Isn't that other stuff important?"

The answer to both questions is ...PROBABLY!

But here's the deal.

You can't do anything about it right now, and if you
worry about it then you're just taking away focus
and energy from the stuff you CAN do.

And that's not going to get you anywhere.

Also - actually DO the "immediately doable"
things for the next 30 days, my experience
tells me that your momentum will be so great
you'll actually be able to easily do a lot of the
things from your list you originally thought
were impossible for you.

You'll also have new clarity and will probably
find that much of the other stuff on the list
isn't even needed.

6. GET TO WORK.

Listen.

If you get all caught up on the little details,
you'll be in the same place a year from now.

Don't let that happen.

7. ACCEPT REALITY

You wanna know something?

This is NOT gonna be easy.

Remember how I told you I lost 20 pounds
of fat?

Man, that first week in the gym was a
NIGHTMARE.

And to make matters worse, my trainer
(who is a terrible person) would make me
display my physical weakness in front of
GIRLS!

So not only was it hard, it was embarassing!

I was failing in public.

But that's what it took so I did it.

And in the end, it wasn't so bad.

So if I can muster up the gumption
to struggle through my first few pushups
in front of a room full of pretty girls,
you can break through you comfort zone
too.

I'll leave you with a quote from the wise
men of Kool And The Gang:

"GET DOWN ON IT (If you really want it)."

You can do it. I believe in you.

Frank

Frank seems to always be in the marketing mood, he looks like a man living
and breathing marketing, so you have a point there.

But don't forget that his free content is nothing short of amazing, it's
better than much of the paid stuff out there.

For example, I ran into this video of his the other day, pure gold information:

  • "Marketing" is the number one reason that these types of seemingly wonderful heartfelt advice messages are sent. They are strictly for the purpose of relationship building, and not necessarily because your uncle Frank loves you deeply.

My company has been online for close to a decade, and myself, well, lets just say I started surfing the web from the days of the Free AOL trial CD roms. I subscribed to almost all of the bigger name companies and marketers at the time, and to the ones that came later.

From observing them all of these years, there is one thing that will remain consistent:
90% of marketers emails will be "buy this product", and 10% will be "I love you my dear friend, really I do... that's why today I wont sell you anything and just leave you with some motivational tips" messages.

Listen, If you are reading great tips (from a marketer) that motivate you, fine! Just remember that you are on a Marketers list, period!

P.S. I unsubscribed from almost ALL of them last year when they started "recommending" those $37 push button scams. That kinda told me how much they cared about me and my success

It's very inspiring when you find minds that think alike! Thankyou for this! When I received this email from Frank I thought that is the sort of story you want with you every day, so I printed the email out and keep it in my diary with to do tasks to read it each day!

I love this thread. This is something that we should absorb.
Frank Kern simply tells that everything we have right now is because of our own.
We can get/have everything that we want because we have the power to control our own lives.

No one should be a hinder of achieving your goals.

Bob's right, but...Kern's always told his audience what he was doing. Look at Mass Control.
Sincerity is the most important thing, and once you can fake that...

      Indeed, fellas.

He started as a spammer, and tells you up front he has no qualms doing whatever it takes. even if its not so nice.

I have liked many things he has said before, and fell for some of the trickery.

Just be aware of the messenger.

I like what Frank Kern says. He is very right. When it comes to business, there will be the time that we failed, and give up. But because of what Frank Kerns message, it helps us to fight and never give up. There would be a struggle at first, but if you are really trying hard to cope it, you can take it. And because of that, the business will be successful

  • I have heard it all before, and believed in it, 5 years ago. Took action, and all that crap. This week I can't even pay my bills.

This 'inspirational' stuff can be ok, but it can get really stupid. There are things you or I or anyone else cannot control, Frank....so shut the hell up, you and your cheesy Antony Robbins stuff.

I know this is somewhat of an old post, but I certainly have to say that it remains true. When I look back at when I first started, I got into IM because I had to. I was in a situation where I had to make it work or my family would be on the streets. I've had plenty of 'downs' on my journey. Fortunately, I think it was as a result of having to have that super strong 'I have to do this' attitude during the beginning along with the 'I've got to figure out how to make this work or else' attitude, I freakishly made my first $400 and some change online within the first couple of months of getting started, so the proof that I could actually do this thing, it was most certainly there--and quick. We often feel we need to actually SEE what we can do first, a lot of times, before we actually believe we can really do it, ya know?

I feel wholeheartedly that it's about the attitude you enable yourself to have. Life has both ups and downs, but its up to you when it comes to how you deal with it. You can either let those downs stop you in your tracks, or say 'screw it' and fight full force for what you want.

I love what Frank Kern wrote because I have had plenty of times in my life where I felt I was alone... I most certainly have had times where there really was no one in my corner to cheer me on and support me. Still do. But as an entrepreneur, I'm sure you can relate... People who are not entrepreneurs just don't get you. Period. You gotta know and accept that. Things like 'feeling alone' happen and I have wised up and expect feelings such as that to continue to creep up on me... But the bottom line is that it's up to you to know and understand... and decide for yourself that you must keep going at this. Especially if you really want it.

Again, for me, my proof of what I could do and achieve in IM came relatively fast... But you know what? It didn't come without other terrible situations happening to me along the way.

First off, I was on pregnancy bed rest as a result of pregnancy complications when I first opened my laptop to study how the heck to make money online-- from my bed. Again it only took me two months to start generating income from article writing and publishing. I used to pump the articles out consistently. I was driven and passionate about my topics. However... shortly after earning those initial bank deposits, my son was born prematurely-- he weighed only a little over 1 lb... We lost him 5 weeks later.

But I didn't stop on that journey of saving my family... I became somewhat angry for a while, but then remembered what mattered and what I promised my son before he passed away. I told him I would continue to help people-- especially mothers... so that families will learn how to have enough time for their loved ones...

I was blessed again and became pregnant two months after my son's passing. Of course I was AGAIN on bed rest, but made it my mission even more, to continue learning more about ways to keep that online income flowing by writing articles about my passions... articles that helped people solve their problems... I continued publishing online and kept earning income from my bed.

Today, I have a healthy daughter who is now 5 years old. I can say that I most certainly am not a millionaire or anything like that, I don't have to be. I have built my own business online that continues to generate income every month primarily from an eBook I published on my website in 2008.

I have never worked for anyone at a 9-5 since I first decided I wanted to generate income online in late 2007. Time freedom as a result of establishing a steady online income is what I wanted, from the very beginning.

The point is... Even with all the financial and unexpected situations my family experienced, I never stopped. I had a strong need and want to make the thing work. I had my share of bad times... tragic times at that... But I learned from it, connected the dots and continued to remind myself of my purpose -- to acquire freedom and more time with my family without worrying about stupid finances. I wanted and needed to be able to take care of my and my family's health and have a life where I could actually BE there and enjoy my family-- that's it. That's STILL it.

So, to end this long comment, I just want to say that Frank Kern is so right. I am on his list as well. I've been on it -- off and on since 2011. However, I've had a lot of times when I wanted to give up, just like a lot of people, which is why I suppose I didn't receive that particular follow-up email the day he sent it. I used to go through spurts at times where I just felt like I didn't want to hear from anyone in IM when I thought my business isn't thriving the way I needed it to... and I just had this thing where I just needed to click 'unsubscribe' from pro IMers' lists--to get away from it.... But when it came down to it, I always ended up getting my act together after seeing or hearing something else inspiring by them and would get myself back on their list. I've done that a number of times with Frank Kern... I've stopped that now. I've been consistently on Frank's list since December 2012... I've done his 4 Day cash machine on one of my lists twice. I always make more money when I use it. Kern knows his stuff.

Anyhoo... Life is not perfect, but when you finally do know what you want... You'll get to a point where you know you are entitled, and that you can take a minute to breathe, and just put IM down for a day... or two... But then, it's almost automatic... You know that you must get back to work--and you do.

If that's what happens to you too, like it does me, I believe that's what it means... You know your purpose... and you are just living it out. Things progress when you have that attitude. Every action in your business is a step forward.

There's no stopping over on this end... How about on yours?

All the best to everyone. We CAN do it!!
