Do you dress up everyday?

I was thinking if I dressed up every day, in business cloths, even though I work at home, it might help me make more money by being in the business mindset. Uncomfortable tie and all, what do you think? Do you do this?

I think if you are that focused you probably won't be that concerned about your attire.

But at least wear clothes .. the whole working from home thing can make one a little eccentric

I don't think the clothes are as important as the routine. Make sure you get yourself into a routine just like you would if you had to go off to an office job everyday. Get up at a certain time, have breakfast, have a shower, get changed into comfortable clothes and only then should you start work.

Resist the temptation to work on things 'after hours' or when you are just lounging around in your jim jams at the end of the day. You need to keep a very clear distinction between work and home time otherwise it becomes very hard for your head to concentrate.

This is why a lot of people prefer to hire out a serviced office near to where they live because although it might only be a 5 - 10 min walk to the office, you will find you get a whole lot more done being out of the home environment. A serviced office might cost a few hundred per week but if it helps you get a whole lot more work done then it's should pay for itself before too long... and it's tax deductible.

I perfectly agree with WillR. Once I got into a regular routine and acted like I was going to head off to a regular job, I became much more productive.

I just recently moved and I found a house that has a detached garage with a very nice size office in the back. Just the fact that I have to leave the main house and walk over to my office has increased my productivity even more.

If you have a office in your home and you find yourself being distracted, seriously consider renting an office space. It's not as expensive as you think. Craigslist can be a perfect place to start your search.

I've heard stories about peeps who have done the whole suit and tie thing at home because it helps them focus, and hey, if that does it for you, do the damn thang!

But I don't think its necessary. Just have clear and defined action that you take every single day and you'll be good to go.

Maybe this idea work for you by gear up suit, tie... But home business is relaxing thing to do in casual dress. We should be more focus on work then dress up as it will waste time and secondly it is not comfortable to wear suit and tie....

1.Because life's too short to blend in. Don't settle for average.
      2. Because you're only young once. You're way more gorgeous than you know & have a fabulous body you'll one day look back on and wish you had! Take advantage now and show off how fabulous you can be.
      3. Because fashion is a method of self expression. What are you trying to say?
      4. Because you never know who you'll run into. Brad Pitt at the grocery store? Hey, stranger things have happened.
      5. Because it obviously annoys some people (like the guy who asks why YOU are so dressed up). The fact that it annoys them so much is all the more reason to keep doing it.

For me I want to be comfortable if I will be spending long hours at the computer. Shorts or sweatpants and a tshirt is what does it for me. I'd just feel silly wearing business attire if Im sitting at home. Don't really think it would make much of a difference for motivation.

  • GOD NO. sometimes I wear a suit, other days I wear flip flops and shorts, and some days I never get out of my long johns or even have a shower. At my worst I went like two weeks working non stop without really eating or even showering. I didn't shave. I looked like a mountain man. It was scary. If I leave the house I dress up usually and always shave. I keep my hair short, but sometimes I just neglect my health and just work work work. - not recommended by the way - you have to have balance.

The most important thing is your mindset and not what you wear.

But hey, If wearing like a boss makes you feel more confident, focused
and gets you in the business mindset then you should definitely go for it!

I certainly dress up every day. It's best to diversify your business and meeting with people in your area. Whether it's bankers or local mom & pop shops, they all come in handy in one way or another and can contribute to your success.

If it helps you to get into a productive mindset, go for it! Different techniques work for different people.

I can see it working if you are making phone calls. Then you can dress up, spend a minute looking at yourself in the mirror and psyching yourself up for the call, then do it!

On the other hand, simply sitting at the computer creating and uploading content ... personally, I don't think the business attire is going to make much of a difference. Not for me, anyway.

I dress casually while working at home. If I have a physical meeting with a client, then I might dress for success, if that is the mood of the meeting.

I guess, it goes well with 'fake it untill you make it' syndrome. Idea is okay.

Second thing, along with changing dress code - try investing in making your 'work room' an ideal 'office room' which may involve changing room paint, new table&chair, new motivating posters, and adding good office accessories may also help you too.

Do what works best for you, if you think by dressing up will help you get things done faster and more organized then by all means do it

Some people like wearing pyjamas, some prefer not to wear anything, and some (like your case) would prefer to dress up.. there's really no right or wrong.. just do what works best for you

Personally, I prefer to wear nothing (hahaha , i'm just kidding)

I think is really depends on what works for you.

There is no right or wrong way.

If getting dressed up in your business suit and tie makes you more productive then go for it.

I honestly think that clothes only play a very small part in the overall success of an Internet Marketer...if any.

This IM game is 90% mental in my opinion....maybe what you wear helps somewhat in the mix.

    cheers

You guys are going to think I am weird and out dated but I'm going to lay it out on the table anyway.

No one can see you unless your webcam-ing.

The skill is what makes the man, not the clothes. The clothes are just a skin. But when you jack into the internet behind a username and avatar you might as well be wearing a fundoshi.

So if you are going to sit on a plastic stool all day you might as well get comfortable because you will be there a long, long time. :p

I think you should be as comfortable as possible. Your clothing should not effect the volume of money you make but rather your mind-set. FOCUS, FOCUS, FOCUS! Then only time i would worry about your clothes in you are on Skype Cam and you want to make an impression. But your confidence would not worry what others are thinking of you. Be yourself.
