Hey Guys,
I wanted to share with you something I just recently discovered and has helped me immensely in being more productive, managing my time, and creating more free time for myself. It also really helped to get rid of the "overwhelm" feeling that I've been getting. best of all its been around for awhile and its free!

Pomodoro technique <---- Google it

The pdf that it comes with is a pretty quick read too.

Essentially you work in 25 minutes increments with 5 minutes rests for sets of 3 or 4. I found that it really helped curb my sleepiness after working for 4+ hours.

Also if you have adhd (I don't so I can't say from personal experience that it works or not for this) its Supposed to help based off of testimonials I read about.

I used to do something similar using what he recommends, a kitchen timer, and I was getting things accomplished.

Basically with this Pomodoro system you write a list of tasks to do the whole day. Set your kitchen timer to 25 minutes and start working on the first task non-stop until timer stops. Take a 5 minutes break. If you get distracted for whatever reason in the middle of the task, restart the timer to 25 minutes. Every four tasks take a 30 minutes break. Set some interruptions, as other 25 minute tasks to accomplish later.

There is more to it. You should read it.

25 and 5. Sounds like good intervals. I will try it.

I know that burning calories is more efficient when intense exercise and rest are rotated. So, it makes sense that a rest period would help during mental activity.

It's what you do when no one is watching
that determines what you will be able to
    do when everyone is watching.

  • Alcon - that's a great tip. It's certainly true that there's something psychologically powerful about telling yourself you just need to FOCUS for a brief period of time.

It's way easier to get yourself to do something for 25 minutes than to say, "Well, gonna spend the next four hours on this giant unwieldy thing..."

One of the best ways to remain productive is to plan your work during the day.
