My first time typing on a dvorak keyboard...

From all the research I've read, dvorak keyboards are faster and can increase productivity.

Yet we all insist on using an obsolete qwerty model.

I think it just proves people have an irrational fear of change.

As an experiment, I'm typing this entire thread in dvorak settings!

You can try too!

How long can you last before going back to qwerty?

Try it. It's hard, but just might make you way more productive in the long run!

I don't know if I'll ever switch, but I am definitely going to pass this information off to my sister-in-law. She's recovering from a stroke and only has the use of her right hand. She should have an easier time typing with this keyboard layout!

      Anyone new to typing would!

Myself on the other hand took about five minutes to type this.

      Learning is hard!!!

I have a buddy who decided to switch to the Dvorak Layout. He had sever issues when he first started, but quickly adapted and liked it. Although I think he switched back about 2 months later!

I personally don't want to take the time to learn how to type again!

    Hi.

I wrote about this keyboard at least 5 years ago, and YOU are the first person I've ever heard of using it. Golly-Gee-WoooooooW.......

I think many of us are like Jeff, not wanting to learn how to type again.

Ironic that the qwerty was developed to slow down typers, so the keys would not collide. Now, the inefficient board is here, because we don't wish to relearn typing.

It's what you do when no one is watching

Really makes you wonder about the human mindset in that regard.

Funny how we prefer inefficiency over change.

And yes I'm still using Dvorak .

Totally agree. For most it's a lack of education. Most people don't know that there is a better way, therefore they don't do it. The real problem is that most people never try and seek a better way.

I personally haven't learned to type on a Dvorak layout because I felt that typing is not my priority for improvement (besides I'm writing this on an iPad which rules out being efficent!).

If I wrote code or copy all day, I would definitely look into it!

        Great job sticking too it!
