Hello Warriors,

I wanted to share with you that I finally quit my day job and now a full-time Online Marketer. Even though the opportunity I received at my day job was quite good, it was getting dull very quickly, sucking my life energy away and just isn't the same as making money with like-minded people.

I thought this post may guide you as a road map for those who are still trying to live the online dream!

When is a good time to quit your day job?

You can choose whenever you want to quit your job, but it's better if you have some kind of backup. For example, your family, you are so far making a decent amount of money on-line or have money saved up so you can sustain yourself for at least a year. I saved up money for three years, and worked on my on-line gigs at the same time.

How Do You Make Money Online?

Adsense and Affiliate Marketing (CPA, any affiliate products) are your safest bet. However, the competition is fierce. You can make a good living out of your own products, WSOs etc.... but if you don't have a list or a good bunch of marketers promoting your product, then Adsense or promoting other people's product is the way to go. I specialize in Adsense and own a couple of authority sites, so they are very stable and needs regular tweaking to grow even more.

Once your websites become an authority the real fun begins. Because now you can use those authority sites to link to any type of page or a website to help them rank well.

FYI, I only believe in links from a diverse group of PR pages. They usually range from 2-6. Anything else like a fresh link from a page you just published on Squidoo takes time to show any result or doesn't get counted at all, incoming links from high pr pages can show you movement within a week.

How Do You Keep Making Money Online?

Right now, the snow-ball effect I created does not demand too much work from my part. However, in the beginning, I would work 8-10 hours on my online projects alone, and on top of that my day job. So, it was a rough start in the beginning but now 4-5 hours a day is sufficient. I AM ALWAYS tweaking and testing!

How Do You Stop Being Lazy?

I was one of the laziest men alive. However, it all changed when I started to track my results in an excel file.

Apr 1, 2012 Apr 2, 2012
Adsense Earning Site 1 $100.00 $85.00
Adsense Earning Site 2 $120.56 $358.00
ClickBank Sales Keyword 1 $0.00 $20.00
ClickBank Sales keyword 2 $3.99 $45.00

At the end of the week I would review my excel file and graph my earnings, number of subscribers, etc.... This automatically allowed my mind to do something about those numbers. If the numbers were not increasing, I would always do something to bring it back up. This simple trick alone will give you energy, determination, and you don't have to remember to do incantation or find reasons why you should work everyday. Your mind is already convinced that those numbers need to go up because you are looking at them each day and asking for more.

Quit If You Don't Like What's Involved.

The fact of the matter is, you are just not 'online marketer' material! I say that because when you are marketing you need to spend time, research, write, learn new techniques and keep up with the dynamic nature of business. If you don't like change, challenges, fear to take educated risks, or have crazy beliefs like you have to lie to people to make money online, then business is not for you.

Making Money Online Takes Work

Making money online is a dumb phrase. You are building businesses and products (each article, web page, website, products) is a small product of their own with a specific purpose in mind. If you do not study your competition, and pay attention when writing your contents or get someone to create them for you, your results will vary. You must make sure your contents are highest of their quality if you want your sites to be treated like an authority. Studying the competition will give you a pretty good idea of how much the quality a product needs to be, for example, if I sell something for $15 bucks, its quality will be drastically different than something that I would sell for $2,999 USD... even though both could talk about the same thing!

Your Health & Happiness Comes First

No matter what you do in life, you have to make sure you are doing better than average in health wise. If you get sick, you feel terrible and do dumb things! So, make sure you are eating good foods, get a decent amount of exercise and do whatever that makes you happy! No matter what is going on in the world I make sure I wake up early. I eat good foods. I work out, spend few minutes of my time for the family and friends to cheer myself up and then work! Work is no longer a necessity but a choice, that's what I aimed for, and I believe if you have the same mindset it can happen for you too. However, you have to be willing to pay the price by trying, failing and scale up whatever is GIVING YOU RESULTS!

Great post and congratulations! I'm a full time online entrepreneur as well, and man does it feel great. Things can be a bit rocky at times, but there is nothing like establishing your own schedule and calling the shots!

      I wish you the best.

I didn't quit my job, but got laid off so I am now focusing my time on my websites full-time while search for fulltime employment.

Hopefully, but earnings from my sites will grow enough that I will not need to return to corporate America.

      Regards,
Hey sorry for the delay, got caught up with work and this new WSO I purchased. I do build backlinks but very carefully though. Before all these panda and penguin crap I would just use a article spinner to do the dirty work but now the articles have to be very high quality. So, I usually outsource to get some high quality articles and publish them on different sites. The key is you don't want to bother Google as soon as you publish those pages, I usually distribute them across weeks and sometimes I don't even ping them, simply bookmark the pages and let Google find the articles on their own. Usually, paying for a blog post is better, you get a high quality link, audience and some love from google at the same time.

The link building is necessary when you are just starting out but once your site is among top 10 for your targeted keywords, it's good enough for me. Surely, being on number 1 makes you a lot of money but if staying on 5 is making me 50 bucks a day and i'm not losing my panties trying to rank for 1, then it's good enough for me!

I always aim for building an authority website covering a broad niche (e.g. weight loss not belly fat loss), niche marketing is cool and does work but you have to have couple of niche sites going to find the ones that are profitable.

Great share and congratulations on quitting your job and starting a full time journey with IM. My goal too is to quit my job by Q3 2012 and working towards it. Working on your passion and not trading your time with somebody is indeed a great feel & lot of peace and satisfaction. Keep posting your success stories.

Great post and very inspiring OP.

I launched a MFA type of site in 2010. I'm rather ashamed of it now, but it has plenty of authority. What I've done is to launch a membership site off the back of it. So I no longer have to worry that I'm churning out product review articles - now I *own* a product that other people can review!

What's nice is that because of my original site's authority, the new site got its first member in less than 24 hours. I cannot describe how good that feels!

Better still, the membership site doesn't need Google to be successful.

Another idea: get an accountability partner! I found that really helped me after I quit my job, somebody in IM who understands your goals and you can help keep each other on track and keep motivated after something doesn't go as planned and celebrate your successes!
