Beware: What You Don't Appreciate You Depreciate

Quick ... What are you thankful for?

Being grateful attracts happiness, clarity and peace of mind more than anything else.

All it requires is your attention.

Think about it:

  • Can you swallow food without pain?
  • Can you smell the aroma of a flower?
  • Can you hug someone you love.
Many people can't. But wish they could.

In fact I'm willing to bet wherever you are now you'd rather be there than the best hospital or the cleanest prison or jail. Am I right?

So, what are you thankful for. Nothing is too small. In fact, it's the small things we can be thankful for -- that can make the biggest difference.

After all, we can't afford to wait until we win the lottery, get a raise or meet our soul mate to be thankful.

"If you're not counting your blessings you're probably discounting them."
Take a second of your day now and share what you're thankful for.

I'm personally thankful I can read and write. The two greatest human powers in the world.

Hey Niche, It is difficult for me to wrap my mind around some things. I have tons to be thankful for.

The opportunity to work IM is certainly germane to this forum. I am very thankful for that. The goals I have and the purpose give me a reason to wake up excited in the morning.

that determines what you will be able to
    do when everyone is watching.

Taking a moment to give gratitude for things in and around your life is so easily forgotten. Reminders to do this are so important and in fact I have done something quite drastic to keep me in check with this.

I've actually set a timer on my cell phone to go off every hour. This might sound annoying, but a simple thought takes mere seconds and I have my phone on me all day anyway that this minor inconvenience is worth it to me. But any time my cell phone alarms, I stop and think about what I have to be grateful for in life. It's just a little something I started doing a week ago, and it's been a fun little challenge.

It is also always nice to read about reminders here - and I LOVE the little reminders you included - so yes I am so thankful that I can swallow food without pain, smell the flowers around me, and I am ESPECIALLY thankful to be able to hug the ones I love.

Excellent post! Thanks for the reminder to stay grateful. I've done it nearly everyday until a few days ago and I noticed my mood has dipped slightly. Time to get back at being grateful

I'm grateful that I love the work I do! =)
