You must have a strong "WHY" to make it

Hey guys, I just want to share something with you all. In order to succeed in whatever you want to do, you must have a strong "WHY".

For instance, I want to make it far because my "WHY's" consists of:

Helping the world, my family, my extended family, my future wife, and myself.

But my "WHY's" got even stronger when I found out that I have a half sister who is a victim of human trafficking. She's stuck in Jordan, Israel as a maid and her owner/boss won't let her go. Therefore I will do whatever it takes to get to her and take her back home. And that's WHY I know I will make it far in this business.

The stronger your "WHY's" are; the "HOW's" become a lot easier to obtain. Because nothing will get in your way once you know WHY you're doing whatever it is in life. And this isn't just for internet marketing, but it can be for anything/everything else.

Good luck people and find your WHY's if you haven't yet!

Totally agree with you. We all know we need to take consistent focused action and at times we are all guilty of not doing so. If you have a strong enough desire, you are more likely to keep going even during challenging times. That desire comes from knowing why you are doing something, so you do have to know what your "why" is.

I feel terrible for you and your situation, Ggpaul. There is much evil in this world. I pray that your sister may find her way out.

The "why" is an important part of the goal setting process. For many of us, we say a strong, "for my family," or "to pay off credit cards." and that isn't enough. Of course, we wish to help our family by our work, and we wish to pay off those credit cards. But, that isn't the here and now.

Those of us who have a regular job work for the here and now--the next paycheck.

It is my belief that that far-off goal should be stated to have immediate rewards. In other words, have your IM goals expressed in the here-and-now.

Yes, having a strong why is critical, but sometimes it's a bit difficult to get that strong why.

GGPaul, your 'why' is a very strong one as you mentioned your half-sister's plight.

From an NLP perspective, to get a stronger why in general, it's good to elicit your own values and then link them to your goal

For example, ask yourself "What is my deepest innermost value?"

This question will reveal to you your strongest values, like love, integrity, peace, trust, etc

As you really contemplate that, connect those words to your goal.

Let's say 'freedom' is your highest value. If your goal or vision is to be an inspirational millionaire for others, then notice what happens when you link freedom to being an inspirational millionaire.

If 'harmonious relationships' is something you highly value, then when you connect that with being a millionaire, it would make sense that you would have a strong reason to rescue your half-sister and that would naturally compel you to take action.

In short, EVERY why is driven by your values. So find out what your most important values are and then apply them to your goals because people rarely ever violate their highest values.

GGPaul - A great post! It's been awhile since I really thought of the 'Why' I started my website and spend so much time on it. Yes, I want to make money, but WHY do I want to make money? So I can devote more time directly helping people.

Another major part pf 'making it' is that you have to REALLY BELIEVE that you will. If you have doubts, you will quit early and never reach your goal.

    Hi GGpaul,

All the best to you and your family and I wish you the best in your efforts to help your sister.

I agree that a strong "why" is critical. I have also found that the things we do in our day-to-day working lives must also be consistent with the type of person we want to be. In other words, if someone showed you an exact, step-by-step formula for making millions of dollars, but the method involved duping other people out of their hard earned money, most people would not be able to make a great deal of money, long-term with this type of model, because most people want to contribute to the world in a positive way. So, our day-to-day working activities must also be consistent with the types of people we want to be. This, at least, has been my realization. :-)

You're exactly right, you have got to find your own motivation or you won't discipline yourself to get anything done...I learned that from my mom as a young teen....And your motivations are molded after my own, my prayers are with you and your family.

So what advice would people offer to someone that doesn't feel in their gut that their WHY is very strong. Where does one go looking for a burning WHY?

You don't necessarily have to look for that burning WHY. If you just give the time and moment for yourself, you will figure out that your WHY's are actually strong. And if anything, they just get stronger every day =). As long as you let it.

Pain is a powerful motivator and I'm sure your pain will give you the drive to do the things that will help you free her. Best of luck to you mate.

If I were you one thing I would definitely consider doing would be to fully document her story and what you're striving to do to help, then post it on GoFundMe. There are a lot of good people out there that will donate to help for all sorts of things, and freeing a girl from this kind of slavery would most definitely get you a funding boost.

This is a GREAT idea. I was thinking something along the same lines. People are very generous when its needed. You should definitely give this a try. In addition to helping your sister, you will help raise awareness of human trafficking. You have a very strong WHY in your need for success

Thank you. My biggest obstacle now is getting traffic to that page alone. I was told that GoFundMe will not put the URL on the "search engine" that the site provides until it has donated $100. The $100 has to be from online either through FB/E-mails/Twitter etc.

My problem is that I don't want to post this campaign about my sister on FB because there are a lot of family members that do NOT know about this situation. On top of that it will destroy my dad's image because my father never accepted my sister. And I don't want that to happen to my dad as much as I want to help my sister.

Basically I'm stuck in the middle but I want to do what's right and that's to help her, but at the same time love my father without hurting him.

Good luck with your situation. I can understand your situation and why you want to succeed.

I covered this mindset module in Maria Gudelis's course where she talked about the big enough 'WHY'. We were told to write down the big enough why's and focus on achieving success, otherwise without the why's, there was a tendency to just sit back and relax.

    Just an update....

I am extremely disheartened at myself..I have tried whatever I can in internet marketing to earn enough of an income to help my sister.

I was just told by her agent that she has 6 days left or else they will send her to jail....They need 5,000 JD = $9,000+ in US dollars to pay for all the fees of her stay in JD and so that way she can go back home to the Philippines. It just doesn't make sense to me. I keep telling her to submit herself to the Philippine embassy or consulate but she tells me that it's so corrupt there that they'll just send her back to her owners/masters or even in jail.

I really don't know what to do. I feel like I've failed myself, and failed to help my sister. I've made income in internet marketing, but not enough to help her =/.....

Any ideas? I figured I'd reach out to a big community like the Warriorforum and hear your inputs..Thanks guys.

    This is a great thread.
A persons "Why" should always have more meaning than just "to make more money" "to live a lavish lifestyle". People are not rewarded, and don't get far in business if they don't have deeper desires that drive them. For me it is to make my family proud (an internal desire), and to make enough money to help others (an external desire)

Thank you. I've been contacting the government left and right. I don't care if people say they aren't going to do anything. It NEVER hurts to try. I've even contacted Ellen (The Ellen Show), and see if she'll respond.

I'm also finding different organizations that deals with this matter.

If you or someone you know is part of an organization that deals with human trafficking, overseas workers, or anything that can help this issue let me know. I would GREATLY appreciate it.

You are exactly right about the importance of having a strong "why" and keeping the reasons you are going after money in perspective. I'm truly sorry to hear about your sister. My "why" is also about being with my family more, helping extended family, and I will thoroughly enjoy helping people financially that I know are struggling from a distance and seeing their situation ease up on them but them not knowing who helped them. I want to serve people in that way.
