I feel this type of encouragement is necessary, especially when dealing with money.

Most of you (us) are here to learn how to make an income online, a good income at that.

Well let me tell you that I started in 2010 and my first year was fairly good. But my second year was awesome.

Everything I'm doing online made over $70,000 in 2011, which is huge because that's more money than my mom makes in almost 4 years.

With that money I've been able to help her with rent, help my friends with money, buy the things that I wanted, and put money towards my future.

But, I will say that money also has a downside. Near the end of 2011, I began to feel like I was more important than other people, like I was some kind of super hero.

Since then I've learned that money does have an evil side to it if you let it effect you that way, but I'm also learning that as people, we change drastically when we are put into these situations.

Some people become greedy and mean.

Luckily, I didn't go down that path. I want to help those around me so that they can have someone to rely on and believe in. I never want to let someone feel like I'm better than them again. And that's a difficult thing to do especially when people say things to me relating to my career online.

I'm over here worried about not wanting to pay for a truck/car in full because I hate paying payments, while there are people that are looking at me like I'm crazy because I have that opportunity.

So, point of this entire post is to tell you not to let the money get ahead of your dreams. There are many great things about money, but there are also a ton of downsides to having money, so don't lose yourself. I'm picking up those pieces now and it hurts.

Congratulations on your success in 2011, Justin. And may continue to prosper into the future. Very good wisdom about not letting money get to your head. That happened to me in 2005 and 2006 when I made a lot of money. I didn't feel like I was better than others, but I didn't spend the money wisely. I was eating out at restaurants multiple times a week. I rarely eat out at restaurants now; it's just too expensive. Things can change awefully quick. So the lesson I learned from that is to make sure you have other sources of income. Those were my early days of being an affiliate. I'm now back into IM, and I consider myself a noob again.

Mind if I ask what you did? Clickbank, Amazon, what? What did you do? And any WSOs/mentors you'd recommend that helped you get where you are? It's overwhelming for me visiting the WSO section. Too much to choose from.

    I agree completely.

One of the hardest things in life is to stay true to ourselves and not compromise our values.

Really nice post Justin. You are very true...

I am happy that you were able to realize the truths so early. And that's one critical thing about being successful, it can turn you in to a prideful person which can cause all sorts of trouble in your life.

Here are some truths from the Bible that clearly portrays the condition you mentioned -

People who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. - 1 Timothy 6:9-10

It's not money in itself that's the root of all evil, but the "LOVE OF MONEY". As long as you have the right attitude towards money, you are safe. The best way to have the right attitude towards money is to understand that the best use of money is not in indulging in your lusts by spending it on everything you want to have, but to use your money to impact lives...

I think it's the "lack of money" that is at the root of all evil.

Either way, the evil is there. The hardest part is being content.

I feel once I get to a certain point I'll be content with my lifestyle and just stick with it, but I've seen so many people get into it and just want more more more. That's when the pieces start to fall apart.

I wasn't falling apart because of wanting more money. I was falling apart because I let the money get ahead of the things I truly valued in life.

Wow- Justin! Awesome year for you! And the fact that you care to help your Mother with her bills and your friends shows your heart is in the right place.

Secondly, the fact that you are concerned about your attitude towards money is pure wisdom! As long as you remember money is a TOOL and not an end, you will always be able to enjoy your monetary rewards because it is who you ARE, not what you HAVE that matters now and at your last breath!

Things are getting better and better each day

I just bought a new car, I'm moving in July to a luxury apartment, working on getting furniture and building a future by saving.

I even have someone calculating my expenses and earnings so that I can budget myself more clearly. This year I'm going to make more money, but the better part of that is by the end of the year, I'm going to have money saved up.

Get ready 2012. I'm a little late, but it's okay, I'm about to share my wealth of knowledge and interests with the world

Congratz on your success Justin! my take on money is that it's neither good, nor evil or has a good side and a dark side..money is neutral. Money is just a tool the reveals ourselves..in other words, the more money one has, the more of one's self is revealed...what I mean is that if your loving, when you have more money, you'll just demonstrate more love...if your not compassionate, when you have money, you'll just demonstrate more uncompassion! My comments are in general. So if you look at it that way, money will always be a good thing to have because it shows us our true selves..what we need to expand in ourselves and what we need to diminish in ourselves. GREAT POST!!

    Justin,
Thanks for the transparency and sharing. Not always easy to be "real", as so many only want to focus on the bragging rights...

At 22, you're already showing some great wisdom.

At "slightly older than 22" myself (let's just say I have 26 and 23 year old sons...) my advice is to locate successful mentors who you admire and study their trail. Ask for their guidance and input and help in holding you accountable. That will help you not only avoid the "big head" and accompanying headaches, but expand your influence exponentially, so that your success can become a catalyst for others.

    Best of luck to you!!
