The study found people who just won't give up when working may be aided along by extra dopamine in the brain's motivation centers.

    Hey Joe:

    Thanks for that article.

So...if dopamine goes to the motivation part of the brain when a subject is exposed to a reward, then marketers need to put that reward in front of that person to get him/her take action (and buy).

This why you must research your market and see what they consider as "rewards." Different markets have different "rewards" that push their "dopamine button."

Find out exactly what they want in a product and just as importantly, DO NOT want in a product.... and you've got sales!

      From another post of mine.
      ------

So I'm reading along and come across some eye-opening dialog which the author is sharing with the reader. I'm doing a little cherry-picking here but I think you'll pick up the idea.

Neuroscientists have found that the prospect of making money stimulates the same primitive reward circuits in the brain that cocaine does.
Later, referring to a discussion relayed by someone else.

In large part, he believes, the mistakes happened because he wasn't able to damp down the cocaine brain.
... he found his brain working against him, latching onto evidence that confirmed his initial hunch and dismissing the signs of a downside. It's what the brain does.

      Sound familiar?

Why didn't that great sounding WSO pan out?

"I was so excited about _______ a few weeks ago. Wonder why that fizzled out?"

I think this confirms something that I suspected for some time.

      Just sharing.

Good for you to go and get some help. It's amazing that sometimes a little tweak can make a world of difference.

Also a smart call being open minded enough to see that something may or may not be a fit for you.

I started taking ADHD medication a year ago, and the difference has been phenomenal. I'm a lot more organized, clear-headed, less impulsive, more stabalized mood, and definitely more motivated.

The downside is that the ADHD meds won't work for everyone. If someone isn't low on dopamine, and they take ADHD meds, it can lead to some unpleasant side effects.

    Hi Joe,

Thanks for the great article! :-)

I smiled when I read this because it reminded me of a video that I posted on here just yesterday. The video actually talks about dopamine and the entire new study of Positive Psychology. I hope you find this video as interesting and entertaining as I did. :-)

Wow thank you for sharing this video! I've been scouring the net for exactly this kind of information!

BTW, I know I posted this before, but it's totally worth sharing as it's along the exact same line of thought:

So the question is, how does one go about getting more dopamine activity in the motivation part of the brain?
