Can hypnosis really fix the broken bits?

I am putting an hypnosis project together at the mo..

And.. looking for some reviews good and bad about Warriors experiences with it.
Could really do with some feedback from those that have tried to to improve productivity, procrastination and mindset.
Feel free to share your experiences and recommend any therapists that were able to pull your strings.

Thanks in advance

John

As an NLP guy, hypnosis does work but audios generally never worked for me due to my own internal resistance. Also its not that we are broken and need to be fixed, rather we are successful at playing small and we think we are broken. I can't really recommend any big name hypnotherapist but warrior forum member caleb miller is very skilled at ericksonian hypnosis as he helped me clear some of my issues.

For those who may not know, NLP was largely influenced by ericksonian hypnosis which can be dubbed conversational hypnosis which is VERY different in that it doesn't involve hypnotic inductions

As for the fear of flying case, it worked enough for her to be on the plane, but not enough for her to feel completely at ease. The problem I see with hypnosis sessions in general is that it often doesn't test whether the emotional issue is fully gone or not. Or at least the sessions I had didn't test it.

Let's hope a hypnotherapist can contribute to this thread for better input.

      Jason,

      Thanks for your contribution!

Do you care to elaborate on NLP and just how your process works/differs to that of hypnosis?

      A few extra questions too..

      1. How long have you been studying NLP?
      2. Studying - what's involved to getting qualified?
      3. What are the levels of qualification?
      4. Any profund effects/changes in your own life that you care to share?

      Thanks again

      John

        Hi John,

The differences are a bit complicated to explain, but these sites help:

Learn NLP: The difference between NLP and Hypnosis | Learn NLP | NLP Training | Train The Trainer | Apex Institute Of NLP Singapore
        http://www.hypnosis101.com/wordpress.../hypnosis-nlp/
NLP and Hypnotherapy: What's The Difference? | Full Hypnosis

        As for your questions:

        1) I learned NLP 6 years ago and been practicing it ever since
        2) Practitioner and Master Practitioner training are required to fully 'get it'
        3) Generally two levels (as described above) though you can go through trainer's training.
        4) Wow, I have so many things that changed in the past 6 years.

My first experience with some of the techniques (at a live seminar) revealed to me that I don't have to be a victim to my emotions. I discovered that experience has a structure, and therefore by identifying it, we can actually change it, thereby change our experiences. This means we can change the way we look at the world.

For example, everyone who is running a 'pattern' of overwhelm, frustration, or whatever is literally running a mental program. When you change the mental program, the overwhelm, frustration, etc is gone. And that allows one to look at the world in a radically different way.

The basic gist of change is to take a resource state and place it upon the problem state. Once that happens, the problem either changes or is gone. This is what hypnosis does as well. However, there may be many factors that get in the way of change (i.e. other issues), and so those must be taken into consideration as well.

Unfortunately, one hypnotherapist I worked with didn't pay close enough attention to the fact that I was resisting some of his suggestions. One of the great things about NLP is that they have a method to test whether the issue is truly gone or not (using the 'TOTE') but in hypnosis, I haven't really come across anything like that. That's not to say NLP is foolproof because sometimes there are other subtle issues that both the practitioner and the client may be unaware of.

Anyway, NLP led me to realize that it really is possible to change my personality, and that I can actually feel like I deserve to be wealthy. Social anxiety used to be a major issue with me as well.

BTW, Tony Robbins was heavily influenced by NLP before he became a huge success. He went around curing people of phobias and such using NLP techniques. It is largely because of him that NLP became a lot more popularized. Hope this is interesting!

I've personally never tried hypnosis.... but I do have two true stories that may be beneficial to you.

My aunty is PARANOID about flying and she literally cannot fly on planes.... to just fly north on a 2 hour flight for her daughters wedding, she had to have regular hypnosis sessions to calm her down and allow her to get on the flight. My uncle said it seemed to work. She didn't appear calm on the plane, but she wasn't jittery either.

Alternatively, my friend who constantly bites and picks her nails, had hypnosis done to try an remove the "process" from her mind. She said it didn't work.

    Hope this helps!

My experience is minimal in that area but my thought is that hypnosis could be beneficial for retrieving experiences or memories in the past like a form of therapy

I believe in hypnosis!! I think cd's are limited be cause they can't interact with you like a trained hypnotist can and monitor your feedback and tailor the program specifically for you! I think they (cd's) are very good at relaxation only mainly... imo
