Do you follow a daily schedule or just "wing" it?

I've noticed that if I don't carve out an hour writing in the morning I just don't get to it all day. First of all I have less distractions both physically and mentally when writing in the morning. I'm also learning that I'm fresher with clients and more able to make an impact if I have the 1 hour writing goal out of the way.

Without that small discipline, I end up feeling guilty for not getting any writing done and too tired to try by the end of the day.

Do you follow a daily schedule to get your work done?

    Hi,
I used to just 'wing' it as you call it but, that did not get me very far. My mentor Nate Rivers is one very organised guy so I followed his method and I can say I'm doing pretty well. My goal is to get 20-30 articles done before launching my weight loss site; I want to grow it into a mini authority site.
I plan my day the night before; whether I'm going to write 1 comprehensive product review or two 600-800 word article in the morning or night, the basic point is that I will have to complete that task that day, period. It helps a lot when you plan ahead.

    Hope it helped.

    Robin.

Yeah, before going to bed, I make a note of things to do in my Task Management app in my phone so that it gets into my subconscious and once you wake up, you have a look on your Task List and start straight away. Following a daily schedule religiously is a sure way to get things done and hit our big goals.

Those are great ideas. It takes a lot more self discipline when you are your own boss. I do write down what I need to do in the morning or I email it to myself before I fall asleep.

Never thought about it getting into my subconscious, I believe it holds a lot of power. That's good!

I downloaded Evernote to my phone and I love it! You can make audio notes and create chyecklist, snap photos . Basically anything I want to do can be curated and organized in my notebook. It's certainly better than having a million stick it notes.

On the enterprise side of things. I recommend you check centraldesktop.com. which integrates smoothly with salesforce

I'm basically a nocturnal creature and I do have a day job (Hopefully one day I can quit) so for now I try so spend 1-2 hours on it before I go to sleep.
Thankfully those hours are the most fertile for me...

  • The areas where I am most successful are because I have a schedule. In areas where I am just developing or do not enjoy, I find that I wing it more than I would like.

    I have a 5-subject notebook.

In it I have the following tabs: Schedule, To-Do, Business, Finance, & Misc.

Anything that POPS into my brain, that I must eventually get done, goes into the "To-Do" section.

I then plan out my day the night before by looking at the "To-Do" section. I pick a few things from there and put them in order of how I will do them on the "schedule" section.

Then, all my business, financial, and misc. notes go into the appropriate sections.

I used to always forget things I had to get done.

This system helps me to remember things and eventually get them crossed off the list.

    All the best,

    Josh

I usually follow a schedule and tried my best to stick to it or else I won't be able to finish some work at all. I don't write a schedule I just plan/think before I start working the things that needs to be done first and the things that can wait till later.

I follow a schedule to avoid feeling that pang of guilt and regret after winging it.
