Reality Check: It's almost half way through the year

As Memorial Day (May 28) approaches, I realized June is upon us, which also means this year is almost half over.

So have you fulfilled even half of your New Years Resolutions?

If not, then here's why: Your MINDSET is not in the right place.

It doesn't matter if you had every intention to get them all done. If your mindset is not in the right place, you won't accomplish much.

So, I highly encourage you to take the necessary mental action so that your mind would let you take the appropriate physical action.

Notice what I am presupposing: Your mind will not let you take the appropriate physical action unless it is persuaded to do your bidding.

This is why people who try to lose weight only stay committed for a short time and then they regain their weight. The same is true for smokers who try to quit.

It will not work unless the mind accepts a new dominant thought. Without this shift in mindset, you will feel like you're constantly swimming upstream and wondering why it's so difficult to move forward.

If your mind is constantly thinking about what you can't do, then you will continue to produce actions that reflect that thought. Yet if you rewire the brain you can create a new dominant thought that reflects the changes you would like to experience. This will almost automatically cause you to lose weight, quit smoking, take action, etc. When your mindset is set for success, your actions will flow and it will feel almost effortless. It will often feel like you're swimming downstream.

So, how does one 'rewire the brain'? Simple: Focus on what you do want, and stop focusing on what you don't want. And this will require repetition. It's just like working out! Some say it takes 3 weeks to establish a habit. Others say it takes a month or 2 weeks. Regardless, you must apply the techniques repeatedly to build that 'mental muscle'.
